Video: DE tells Falcons to get off Carolina’s field

Payback was sweet for Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy Sunday.

Hardy was upset when television cameras caught Falcons QB Matt Ryan cursing at the Panthers sideline after Atlanta’s week 4 win, telling them to get off the Georgia Dome field. But Sunday, following Carolina’s 30-20 victory in Charlotte, Hardy returned the sentiment, walking across the field and screaming for the Falcons to get off Carolina’s turf.

That brought a response from Falcons kicker Matt Bryant, who yelled for Hardy to “Enjoy watching us in January,” alluding to the playoffs, which Atlanta (11-2) has qualified for and Carolina (4-9) won’t be a part of.

(See the video above from WSOC-TV and Channel 2 Action News. Note that offensive language has been excluded.)

Hardy did not comment again after leaving the field, exiting the locker room before reporters were allowed in.

What do you think of Hardy’s antics? How did you like Bryant’s response?

Understanding that a couple of key defensive starters did not play (WM25 and AS22) I thought this first half was pathetic. This is a vision of Dirk Keotter. He stunk in Jacksonville and he’s slowing us down here. I swear he’s like a kid that found his daddy’s keys and can’t decide which way to go. Ryan had respectable numbers yesterday and with more than one half of a defensive effort we may have done better. It makes me sick when our 2 losses are to the 2 worst teams in the league. It makes me sick when we go out and don’t stand up for pride when that loud mouth Hardy started his crap. My guess is the Panthers don’t win another game all year. My other guess is if we don’t figure out which way to go on offense and our defense play with more pride in themselves our post season will be quick.
Let’s put this on in the past and play like men this week!

During the game, the “get off my field” comment came up, one of the announcers was asked how he thought the Panthers would react after the game if they won. The guy said he thought they would be classy. I busted out laughing.

I told my son that Oliver Hardy would be running all over the place telling every Falcon near a camera to get the blank of his field.

Ryan said it once, in the heat of the moment, definately not knowing a camera was on him. Hardy said dozens of times making sure the cameras were on him.

Awesome, though, maybe Smith will start taking the Panthers seriously and not give the Falcons so many days off before a divisional game.

The Falcons deserved it! Matty Melt did it to them. Sure wish Bryant would have mentioned WINNING in January!!! Well, fans, here’s hoping the Dirty Birds can score more than 2 points in the playoffs! I’m just counting down the days until Turner is gone! So sick of seeing teams with 2nd, 3rd and even 4th string running backs better than his AZZ!!!!

Cam Newton without doubt is an extremely talented athlete. He is the type of player that can win a game on any given Sunday, but will not win a championship. As for the color of his skin, I agree with the poster who compared him to Dre Brees. I have admiration for REGIII after watching him play and hearing his interviews, not so much for Cam Newton!

Panthers fans are so cute. Boasting about “potential” and a high draft pick. Listen, sometimes the best teams lose to the worst teams, and that’s what happened yesterday. All the credit to the Panthers, we got dominated in that first half. We’re 11-2 and the Panthers are 4-9. That’s all that’s important. Enjoy talking about “potential” for the next 10 years while you keep scratching your head at why the Panthers aren’t any better considering all those “high draft picks.” Get used to the bottom of the division.

What ever happened to the concept of professional men acting like professional men? This is just another example of the problem with sports today. You have these jackasses like Newton that are all about taking them TEAM me slogan and turning it into team ME. It is getting pervasive in all levels even high school. Back in the dark ages when I played, we were taught that the team came first and the only thing that mattered were wins and losses. In a basketball game it didn’t matter if I scored 2 or 22 as long as the team won. I try to instill this attitude into my son who is presently a high school athlete but with what I see at all ballgames from the rec leagues to the pro level I feel like I am a voice in the wilderness. My enthusiasm for watching sports on TV gets lower and lower every year due to the antics I watch by these so called “professionals”.

Someone might have said this already but Hardy says “you lost to a sorry team today” Classic, calls his team sorry while trying to talk trash. FAIL!!! And the difference between what Ryan did and what Hardy is doing is that Ryan did it from the sideline (happened to be caught on camera) and not walking through the other team and saying it repeadetly. Hardy is a moron. Teams that are 4-9 don’t talk trash no matter what, especially to a team that Cam had never beaten until that day. He had a right to be emotional, that was their big game of the year. Falcons will need to be better heading into playoffs.

Pure and simple, the Falcons just couldn’t muster up enough false passion to play against a cellar dweller. Too much on their plate down the road to fake interest.

Panther fans, all this victory means is that you pick lower in the draft next April.

I love my Falcons and the evident when you look at my name, but we clearly can’t handle too much time off. We always come back and start games slow. It’s tough because even I can’t figure these guys out sometimes. I still think we are a good team. The one glaring thing I do notice is that, when Matt doesn’t have good protection he tends to freak a little bit. When he’s well protected and has some time he’ll pick teams apart. I know you all have heard this before, but I think our OL needs to step up! I think there well be a couple changes on that line next year. We looked like we were taking a game off or something. Our defense was on the field too long(just like the last few games). The offense is not playing to it’s full potential. I’m hoping Dirk is saving some stuff for the playoffs, because if he isn’t we may be in trouble. Now, these last 3 games don’t look so promising for us. One other thing….WHY DIDN’T WE GO TO THE NO HUDDLE SOONER. I just don’t get it.

They are all professional atheletes. They all get paid. Any team in the NFL can beat any other, particularly in a 16 game regular season. Get to the post season and and show up.

The Giants have 5 losses, were they finished after getting humiliated by the Bengals? Or losing to the hapless Eagles? Or Cowboys? Or Redskins? Or Steelers?

Were the Packers finished after getting boatraced by the Giants? Or losing to the Colts and their rookie QB? Or maybe their loss to SeaChickens? Or at home the Niners? Or the gift win the got on the Lions last night.

San Fransisco looked great with their 0-1-1 record against the Rams. Their 26-3 home loss to the Giants was also a gem. The Vikings got them too?

Great teams don’t lose right?

Gimme a f’n break. Falcons need to get their crap together for sure, but calm down folks.

The Panthers played a great game yesterday and won. Tip your hat to the victor and stop being a whiner. It would be a more meaningful game if they had managed to beat teams like the Chiefs. It would matter if they hadn’t already lost 9 times.

When the defense plays almost all of the first half you will get TIRED. It will beat you down. And the reason we don’t have a running game is because we don’t have any run blocking. Rodgers is a good running back but if their isn’t a seam to run you don’t go anywhere. As far as the trash talking, forget it. We won’t see them again this year, but they will see the Falcons in January.

For an “overmatched team”, the Panthers put the Falcons away handily.. As for the trash talk, it’s not like Ryan didn’t start that. They were talking about Ryan’s comment in Charlotte all week long and it was essentially a rallying cry for the Panthers. I’m not surprised Hardy couldn’t restrain himself from returning the comment although I would have preferred that he show he has more class than Ryan. I guess he doesn’t.

The last few bloggers got close to the truth. Of course there was going to be a let down for the Falcons. The clinched the division championship last week so there was no urgency this week. It is tough to get up every week in a 16-game season. No team has gone all the way to the SB without losing a game since the NFL went to the 16-game format. Are the Falcons a perfect team – noooo. But strap ‘em up and go back and get again next week. This game really didn’t mean much to the Falcons. OK – so it meant more the Panthers. The Falcons are just biding their time waiting for the playoffs.

At least yesterday’s game should show the Falcon organization just how lacking the team is in offensive and defensive linemen. It’s great that we have such a good record, but look closely how close we are to having a terrible record. In all due respect, we don’t have the players that we should have. The skill position players can’t get it done if there are no offensive linemen and no pass rush and no run stoppers.
