Former Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton told the AJC’s Michael Cunningham that the Falcons aren’t really seen as a worthy rival by his current team, the Saints, on Tuesday.

Lofton and his New Orleans teammates may feel differently after their bus allegedly was egged while the team was leaving Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Wednesday night.
The Saints were arriving in Atlanta for their game against the Falcons Thursday night in the Georgia Dome.
Saints backup quarterback Chase Daniel tweeted this just minutes after the team’s charter flight touched down:
@ChaseDaniel: Wow, as we’re boarding buses on the Tarmac @ Atlanta airport, we start getting eggs thrown @ us by airport workers! Guess they do hate us!
Tight end Jimmy Graham confirmed the incident took place with another tweet:
@JimmyGraham: Bus just got egged after landing in ATL by the ramp workers. Classy! “RISE Up” smh
A third player, linebacker Will Herring, also tweeted about it:
@wherring54 First time my bus has been egged by opposing fans! Tomorrow should be fun!! #WhoDatNation
Hartsfield-Jackson officials are investigating the incident.
New Orleans has won 11 of the last 13 games in the series, including a 31-27 victory on Nov. 11.
But the Falcons are 10-1 and the Saints are just 5-6 this season.

Ya’ll have to be the funniest fanbase in the history of the NFL. What have you ever won? I cant even remeber the last time the Falcons beat the Saints. The Falcons were 8-0 (Easiest schedule in the NFL by the way) and couldnt beat a team without its head coach. Who have the Falcons beat this year? When they play the Saints,Giants and if they make it far enough to play Green Bay or San Fran they will lose. Had they been playing any team other than Arizona (3rd string qb) two weeks ago it would have been another loss. The fan base and players (Roddy White) can talk/egg all they want, but in the end it’s just talk. I can not wait to see another early playoff exit, it’ll make 2013 start off that much better. As a life long Saints season ticket holder, I found it comical at the lack of Falcon fans at the dome this year. I guess your cowardly fanbase knew what the outcome was gonna be. Your fanbase is the joke of the league and I always love reading about how Atlanta is the worst sports city in America. By the way I loved the in field fly rule against the Braves this year. Another loser team from the ATL. What a joke!!!

a few points here…there has been no evidence of players getting paid or paying to “take someone out”…Goodell was on a witch hunt and he acted two quickly…now he has to produce “evidence” that this stuff happened…and guess what folks, he doesnt have any proof…why do you think the players that were “suspended” have been playing… and secondly, the last time I checked the SAINTS have OWNED the FalCANTs…so throw your petty little eggs and RISE UP (that is the stupidest motto) and enjoy yet another defeat. The FalCANTs will make the playoffs and lose in the first round…to me, it doesnt matter because at the end of the season The falCANTs will have lost to the Saints TWICE!!!!

The Saints won one Super Bowl and the fans feel that erases 40+ years of being a terrible team? Please. The Falcons still lead the all-time win/loss record in the series. Enjoy Brees while you have him. He’s all you’ve ever had and when he’s gone the paper bags will come back out. Four of the last 5 games have been decided by 3 points so “OWNED” isn’t accurate. Owned would be 46-41 lifetime. Just enjoy the rivalry the Aints players try to deny. It’s a rivalry that’s been going since 1967. The difference is the Saints are mediocre this season. Something their new fan base isn’t familiar with these days. And even if they win Thursday night it won’t change anything. The Saints and their fans will be watching the Falcons in the playoffs while they brag about beating a much better team when it didn’t really count.

Didn’t count huh, yeah cause ya’ll arent playing for the #1 seed or anything. You act as though the Falcons were not terrible for 40+ years. Again how many Superbowls have the Falcons won? In the end thats all that really matters. This year is a waste for the Saints. The NFL is trying to destory the franchise. But just think even in this down year your Falcons still have a loss to the Saints. The arrogance of your fanbase amazes me. And yes to me that Superbowl does wipe out the 40+ years of horrible teams. Maybe one day you feel it to, but i really doubt it.

Saints will probably beat The Falcons into a hole becasue they have no pass-rusher starting, and the secondary can’t cover them..
Still…
The Saints…I’m not sure… They seem to be doing all the talking…They really are knocking themselves out of doing their jobs..
The Falcons did not end their season..The 49ers did..
Nobody on ESPN, FOX, or NFLNet, cares whether The Saints own The Falcons…
They seem to care more about Their head coach taking The Cowboys job..
I’ve heard nothing of these TV networks caring about Saints talk., but some out-town instigators on these local sports stations..
I don’t condone the egging (if it really happened), and the ramp workers should lose their jobs over a game…and some local radio talk..

No real evidence of this “Egging”…
I question the source…
I do feel that The Saint know that they can beat The Falcons, but..
They seem to acting as if they can’t..
It’s all kinds of incidents, and from what I’ve just heard.—no evidence of an egging at The Airport..
I would not be surprised if they need o motivate themselves and their fanbase with Lofton doing all the talking..
They seem to need to do this…
“It’s not a rivalry”, but The Saints are doing most of the talking and tweeting..(except for Roddy White)
The Saints sure are acting like these games are a rivalry..Not “business-like” at all..
Again: If the ramp-workers did this, they should be fired, but…I’ve heard that nothing like this happened..

Falcon players were toying with Lofton as an ex-teammante, and friend…
Lofton was asked several times if his former teammates were doing what was claimed..

Still…The Falcons should not go play with an ex-teammate.. They should’ve been focused on their jobs!

sportsmanship, thats what it all boils down to. When the saints win, they are sore winners, the kind that get in your face and you have to push away. When they loose, they are the same way. The saints fans, well they are the worst behaving fans ever. If we acted the way they do when they come here down in New Orleans, they would shoot us. Unfortunatly when Katrina flooded down there, the rats had to go somewhere, so there is a large poplulation of saints fans living here. It has been proven time and time again the Falcons barely won a lot of those games. Yeah had any other team on the outside of the Arizona Cardinals played the Falcants they would have won that game. The Falcons fans are sorry fans period. C’mon throwing eggs at a bus? Really? yeah that should be considered a terrorist act. It just shows how classess they really are. By the way….New Orleans is a much prettier city than NOTLANTA! The Saints will beat your pants off tonight..Oh and we don’t even have our coach at this moment, but he will be back early next year. Isn’t it amazing how all of these sorry Falcants’ fans are now speaking AGAINST Curtis Lofton and less than 6 months ago they were the very same ‘fairweather’ fans beggin’ Blanks classess a$$ to keep him? too funny.. Now they are calling themselves talking about him..too funny. You just have to consider the source that is coming from. I’m certain Lofton is taking that as a compliment..too funny! Lofton spoke the truth. The Falcants’ are NOT a rivarly team for the New Orleans Saints and Actions speaks louder than words..
By the way….why don’t you all tell that nappy headed Roddy “I’ze do anythung fo ya Massa” White to get those plats out of his head, take another English course, and grow up THEN speak! hahahahahahaha! I hope they knock the socks off of his behind. I can’t stand him with his ghetto ignorant self!

LMAO….reading some of these comments.
The article is about Falcons fans throwing eggs at the Saints Team Buses and many Falcon Fans on here says that Saints fans are the worst fans.
I have been to Falcons v Saints games both in New Orleans and in Atlanta and I can tell you that Falcons fans never experience the treatment that Saints fans experience in that circus tent. Last season, things were thrown at us, pour on us and mean and hateful things were yelled at us through out the entire game. I have never seen that done to Falcons Fans at the Super Dome…..at least not in the section I sit in.
Jealousy makes people do mean things….and Falcons Fans resorting to throwing their unhatched dirty birds is a prime example.
It sure will nice knowing that when the Falcons finish the season 14-2 that those 2 losses will have come from their Big Brothers!

I’ve been a Falcons fan since day one, including going to the first game they ever played, a 9 – 7 loss to the Iggles.
That said: Was a police report filed? If this is true and those guys can be identified, they should be charged with malicious mischief at a minimum,,,, AFTER they’re fired. I would suggest no less if the same thing happened to the Falcons in Nawlins. The IDIOTS who threw the eggs, IF they really did, were throwing eggs at a bus most likely owned and operated by an ATLANTA business owner who would then have to pay to repair any damage done to his bus.
I see a lot of Birds “fans” pointing out prior bad behavior by Saints fans as if to justify this childish, yet criminal behavior, and think y’all need to take a hard look at yourself.
I’ve been to many Falcons/Saints games in the Superdome over the years and have ALWAYS been warmly received by Saints fans before, during, and after the games in the quarter. And yes, I always wear my Falcons colors.

LOL at the clown calling The Saints a “small market team,’ you should be a comedian. Travel the world and you will see Brees jerseys all over, I saw one on a person in Australia (PRE KATRINA). Now seriously, how many Atlanta fans are outside of Atlanta? I don’t think even half of Atlanta is a Falcon fan…Braves, yes, Falcons, NO! Falcons were smart to copy the color of the Dogs, or you’d rarely see red and black around here! I hardly EVER see Falcon support in this city (not counting the last three months) and it’s still just a murmur! Atlanta radio 790 was begging fans this week to act like “Saints Fans” and be there for their team. REAL die hard Falcon fans are rare and nice to come by, they usually treat us Saints fans like family (step children, but still family).

This story would need to be confirmed before I believe it. I can’t imagine airport workers pulling such a stunt at the airport, but I guess you never know.
I was a season ticket holder for years (leaving during the Vick fiasco), but the Saints game was always my favorite to tailgate. They are so stupid! There are cameras EVERYWHERE. Even places where they don’t know and they were on film doing this! I’m so happy they are going to be fired!
This is NOT how you treat anyone. When you are in a professional environment like the Hartsfield Jackson Airport you KEEP your personal feelings, beliefs and opionions to yourself.
I guess these sorry Falcants’ fans think that it’s O.K. that this happened, but baby..it’s much deeper than that! Atlanta is known for being the friendliest city in the south…well I beg to differ. This treatment of these football players is NOT acceptable!

Word from a credible source says a wealthy financier out of NYC is behind this utterly dastardly deed. Sources name El Goodell as the money man for the 2 dozen grade A projectiles. Two dozen shell caseings were recovered by the TSA and are being sent to the NFL offices as evidence. Sources also believe that it was an inside job, as all of the Saints issues have been inflicted internally. Either way, it is apparent that no one likes the Saints, internally or externally. On a side note, the Egg that hit Jimmy Graham hit him in the hands and he dropped it. No word yet if the NFL stats dept will add that drop to his league leading total.

Saints fans were rude making harassing comments in front of children threatening harm to people when they cheered for the Falcons, This isn’t hear say I say it in front of me , Alcoholic sales were cut off during third quarter. Fans escorted out by the police
People in Atlanta donated their time and monies after Hurricane Katrina which hit more than just the city of New Orleans (with a warning people, duh) ( I was a volunteer at the hospital to help )

For about a century, it became Auburn University’s mission to reduce this brawn every time Georgia Tech came to town. Students ran grease across the tracks before and after the station platform the night before the game. Catching a greased pig is hard. Catching a greased locomotive is harder. The train flew past the stop year after year, leaving the Auburn opponents with a hefty warm-up as they trekked several miles back to the station.
In 1898, the administration threatened to expel whoever attempted to continue the greasing ritual. Teachers and the like camped out and supervised the tracks until swarms of students in pajamas and bathrobes emerged from the woodwork. Expulsion became impossible — but the students were still intimidated. The tension released in the form of a friendly impromptu pep-rally that became a yearly tradition: the “Wreck Tech Pajama Parade.”

When you have a city of lousy transplants, and no superbowl victories, you have a very diverse fan base that is very hard to please due to past failures…. Steelers, Cowgirls, Raiders, and Pack got loads of fans due to success which brings about many bangwagon jumpers. The Aint’s, not so much, you see my rival pal, nobody cares about the Aint’s no more then they care about my Falcons. Why? because my Falcons have NO superbowl rings, and several people question the Ain’t’s “one” superbowl ring. Besides, many of the so called Aint Fans and current rush of Aint fans are mainly ‘Drew Brees” fans and also felt sorry for your city after everything that the people and city went through from 2005-2007.

Look, I know this is a heated rivalry and that the Falcons and Saints don’t like each other. And it’s obviously no secret going by the remarks on a weekly basis here that the two fanbases don’t care for each other or the other team.
All that said, I think it’s a shame that some of our fans, whoever they were, stooped to throwing eggs at the Saints’ bus. Not only does it reflect badly on the majority of Atlanta fans who wouldn’t do such a thing, but it could set a dangerous precedent if fans in New Orleans try to “one up” it when the Falcons eventually go back there. Neither team needs this, and they sure dorn’t need bulletin board material to go after each other hard at this point.
And yes, I remember the Saints posing on the Falcons logo and the guy claiming he’d urinated on it, and it made me mad, too. But I’d wager that there were some Saints fans who read that and were ashamed that their team had done such things. At some point one group or the other has to be the better man and demonstrate some class and some grace toward the other, and that includes us fans. At the end of the day, it’s just a football game for crying out loud.

It be a breach of security as well.. Where did the workers get the eggs?
Something doesn’t add-up, and the Saints have been making a lot of accusations that they can’t prove…it would not shock me if its a hoax by them…
….and why target a whole city for the foolish actions of a few?
If the workers did throw eggs at the charter bus, they should be fired. What happens in the game–will happen. This won’t affect the outcome. Still, they should be fired.
They took the time to purchase eggs from within the airport, or bring them to work, and made enough free-time to do this? They should be fired. Then, they can ask The Falcons for new jobs for being so loyal..(And see where that gets them..)
WSBTV already reported-on lapses in security in the loading areas of the airport..
Imagine what else could take their minds from their jobs?
Where were The Homeland Security officials?
I am concerned more about who did this (if it happened)..I’m sure there are cameras everywhere down there..I don’t want airport officials unfocused…Next time someone could be pretending to pull a prank, and it becomes something worse.
It would be funny if the workers were arrested by HLS agents…

The people who are the witnesses are disgruntled employees/coaches. By the way if you haven’t noticed how many players have stepped up and stated they have a pay for performance on the field. By the way how many people did the Saints hurt? I’m curious. I have never heard that number. Must be alot.

let me bring it to Curtis Lofton and the rest of the NO players why it’s a rivalry:
-Katrina forces tons of people to move from NO to ATL . NO FANS write on the Falcons pages & blogs everyday.
-NO players that posed on the logo after a win flashing hand signs like guns..
-NO idiotic players braggs that they urinated on the field…..and didn’t get a reprimand.

While it is not something I would do, is egging a bus (or a house in the case of UGA) that horrendous of an action? The saint’s players should say nothing about class, after the scandal they have gone through. Here’s the deal imo, every team wants passionate fans and passion is difficult to control. I would say if something getting egged is the worse that happens, we are doing pretty good.

Got no problem with the Saints bus getting egged, just as I liked the show of NY style passion by Braves fans in October. Hate filled fandom has been around for as long as professional sports has been around. Refer to a 1934 World Series finale in Detroit between the Cardinals and theTigers. Debris of all kinds was thrown upon the Cardinal left fielder. All I can say is, at least Falcon fans have jobs and don’t sit around drunk on God knows what all day in their underwear.

What ever happened to sportsmanship? You need other teams to play in order to win anything. Nothing could be more classless. I suspect this really happened but I hope attitudes change as a winning team with character begins to represent this great city. Not all of us are like that. Just because the Saints finally figured out how to play football well does not make them bad. The Falcons are on the rise and are becoming a better team. Regarding the Saints suspensions: high energy legal hits forceful enough to cause injury or degraded player performance have been used as a metric for agressive defensive play since I was a kid and I don’t think it will go away any time soon. This is not a contact sport (like dancing). This is a collision sport and if you play it for a living you have to do it full force or you will be looking for a job. I’d like to watch our Falcons prove their prowess on the field and will be using my energy to root them on as they take it to the Saints on the field of play. I respect any NFL team capable enough to be in that league. At times, their management, players or coaches make a bonehead move like other real people but we don’t have to egg them to make ourselves feel better. GO FALCONS! YOU ARE RISING UP!

Not sure why Falcons Fans would resort to aborting their unhatched dirty birds!
Perhaps its because the Saints will always be a reminder to Falcons Fans that their team really isn’t all that when they lose to a team with a losing record, no head coach and the worse defense in league history.
I really hope the Falcons finish the season 14-2, because it will forever be know that their 2 losses came from one team…the Saints.
And I know Falcons fans, Mike Smith and Matty Melt are praying the Saints do not make it to the playoffs….because they wouldn’t want their 1 and done playoff appearance to come to an end by the Saints beating them for the 3rd time in one season.
Good luck tonight…your boys will need it.

To all the Falcon fans that are calling the Saints – Aints, Caints, and especially the guy that posted with the user name “we dat”… have got to be joking. The Saints have beat you guys so much in recent memory that in New Orleans this seems less like a rivalry and more like the Saints beating their little brother up again. Yes, you will go to the playoffs, yes you will have the first seed, and yes, you will be one and done. Why… because you skate by and barely beat teams that are not that good, and not just every once in a while…every week. The problem is that in the playoffs everyone is good. Oh yeah, enjoy this while it last because next year there won’t be any suspensions or penalties and the Saints will be resting their players at the end of the season. It is just too bad that even in this “down year” for the Saints, the Falcons still can’t muster enough guts to stand up to their big brother. WHO DAT!
