UGA’s Rambo: “I feel like we’re more talented (than Alabama)”

One of UGA’s veteran defenders has provided some of the first bulletin board material of the week in advance of Saturday’s SEC Championship showdown between the Bulldogs and Alabama.

UGA safety Bacarri Rambo went on ESPN radio after Saturday’s blowout win over Georgia Tech and said some words that will surely get the attention of Nick Saban:

“I feel like we’re more talented (than Alabama). We have better players at each position, across the board, especially on defense. It’s going to be a great challenge for us. I know it’s going to be a battle. It’s going to come down to who has the best defense and who makes more turnovers. It’s going to be a battle of the defenses.”

Which defense is better?

What do you think? Is Rambo correct? Is UGA’s defense better than Alabama’s? And if so, should Rambo have made the remark? If not, why not? Please post below.

Saturday’s SEC Championship game will match up No. 2 Alabama versus No. 3 Georgia. Please check back all week for the AJC’s coverage of “SEC Championship Week”

It rarely matters who has the better players. It matters whose players play better. A lot of that has to do with coaching. Georgia can win this game. Alabama probably will. What Rambo did or didn’t say won’t mean anything once the hitting starts.

They all need to keep their mouths shut unless they are going to come and pull another Shawn Williams. Just shut the hell up!

No need for the smack talk. It gives Alabama a better chance. Let your playmaking do the talking.

WATCH YOUR MOUTH RAMBO!!!! Do you realize what you have just done!!! You just made this SEC Championship Game harder for your team. You know last year Georgia was happy just to be in the game, now if you really want a 2nd chance to win this game, you better take this seriously!

Will someone PLEASE tell these youngsters to simply let their WORK do the talking!!!!! I am so sick and tired of this high school playground crap. Don’t give a crap what they say, just want to be quoted and be a badass. Ask them to explain “think before speaking” and why they are immune to that! SHUT UP and Prove it on the field!!!

UGA has 4 or 5 defensive players who would start for Alabama. I’m not convinced Rambo would be one, though. These words won’t mean a thing come Saturday, but you’d still prefer him not to say them.

I wish he hadn’t said that. Remember the motivation UGA got after Sheldon Richardson’s comment on “old man football?” Words are pretty powerful.

Now you’re going to have some knucklehead on the Bama side harping abut being “dissed” and here go the skirmishes at the 50 yard line before the kickoff. I am absolutely sick of this jawing!

Poor choice of words. Had he said “Alabama has dome if the best players in the country, but we think we do too. Excited to go against the best.” – it would have been a no deal.

I think Rambo is right..What was he suppose to say? That Alabama is better? Georgia is just as good if not better at a lot or positions.Alabama is not the unbeatable monster that some people think they are. They got swatted by Texas A&M they didn not play the top three teams for the SEC east and the win over LSU was not a blowout. They can be beaten if Georgia plays with the same passion they had against Tech.

Won’t here much from the Bama team, but the press,TV etc in overload talking about Irish/Tide already. Plenty of motivation for Dawgs this week. Don’t worry. Saban is to Sports personalities to What Obama is to liberal press. They wet their pants when Saban speaks.

I think Richt ought to walk in the lockerroom after warmups at the dome right before game time in his boxer shorts holding his pants. Get in front of the team and punt his pants on and say….. ” every player in that Bama locker room puts their pants on just like I did. No difference. Go play your game and just watch. You’ll win.

If you talk the talk you have to walk the walk. Rambo is one of the best Georgia defensive players in history. Let him talk. It sure worked when UGA talked before the Florida game.

Don’t care. Both teams have to strap on their helmets and play the game no matter what someone says. I happen to agree with him. UGA has more talent and experience on defense than Bama.

the Georgia player jsut did us a huge favor. That’s all the Tide players have been talking about today. They are stoked! I mean stoked!! The one that the Georgia team can be sure of now is that it is goign to be a PHYSICAL game. Saban qill use this as a lack of respect card. Wow, what a gift! We need to send Rambo some more BROWNIES!! hahahaha

Bama has no pass rusher like Jarvis Jones and Jordan Jenkins. If they can’t get to Murray he will dissect their secondary which is the weakest part of their defense. They have not dealt with speed receivers like Tavarres King and Malcolm Mitchell all year.

Let’s face it, folks. If Rambo had any common sense, he wouldn’t have been suspended the first four games of this season or the first game of 2011. Nevertheless, he’s a good football player and I’m sure he believes what he said. As we all know, words don’t win football games; actions do. If our guys show up and play to the best of their ability, then I’m going to like our chances. If we haven’t learned anything from the South Carolina game this year and the second half of the SEC title game last year, then Bloomin’ Onions will be falling from the sky one more time.

Noticed a lot of the media last night kept talking about a BAMA / ND matchup..and then catch themselves to note that BAMA will get by Georgia, and then get back to the matchup discussion. Some already touted Vegas odds for that matchup.

Rambo is correct and I have no problem with what he said. That’s the attitude the players need in this game as opposed to the deer in the headlights approach they took with USCe. Bulletin board material? Who cares? You don’t tip toe your way to a win in this kind of game. Bring on the Tide! Go Dawgs!

All BS aside, Bama is very good. This is not their Best Saban team, but a very good team. Well coached. Hardly ever out of position. They don’t break out into a freak show after a big play. Very Physical. Very boring but VERY effective offense…………….All that said….It’ll be Dawgs against the world….and they will have to play their best game of the year……and a little luck to win….Go Dawgs.

To all of you people (along with nervous Dawg fans) making dumb comments like our team showing up, I really don’t think we have to worry about that at all. If you can’t see that this is a totally different team than the one that played Oct 6th I don’t know what you’ve been watching.

Jona: From what I’ve been reading and hearing, tha’st the game Saban plays. Can’t remember the sports guy who said it , but he stated Saban would use something as simple as noticing a player’s name was misspelled or mispronounced and use that.

Not concerned at all! It is healthy to get this out in the open. The Georgia players have the necessary confidence to Walk The Talk. We all know who Alabama is, and they will be ready to play no matter if Georgia says nothing or something. In fact, who has the swagger to say something? It may as well be the Dawgs. I also am sure Coach Mark Richt does not mind his defense getting behind the eight ball a bit as the eight ball sunk finishes the game. I am sure The Dawgs are believing they will have the cue stick at the end of the game.

Go Dawgs, and Rambo Them To

Nothing is wrong with what Rambo said. Ga. has some studs. Ga. is faster and larger. The coaches can lose this game, eventhough they are not playing. I am $5800. to the good because of the LSU_Bama game, the FSU-Fl.game and the heart-attack falcons. Place your money on Ga. especially if you are given points.

JB: Agree with you about the way Bama plays ball. One thing I noticed is that they are very very good tacklers. I’m talking wrapping a guy up and bringing them on. Like you said, no showtime stuff, no ESPN look at me moments.
