UGA’s Rambo: “I feel like we’re more talented (than Alabama)”

One of UGA’s veteran defenders has provided some of the first bulletin board material of the week in advance of Saturday’s SEC Championship showdown between the Bulldogs and Alabama.

UGA safety Bacarri Rambo went on ESPN radio after Saturday’s blowout win over Georgia Tech and said some words that will surely get the attention of Nick Saban:

“I feel like we’re more talented (than Alabama). We have better players at each position, across the board, especially on defense. It’s going to be a great challenge for us. I know it’s going to be a battle. It’s going to come down to who has the best defense and who makes more turnovers. It’s going to be a battle of the defenses.”

Which defense is better?

What do you think? Is Rambo correct? Is UGA’s defense better than Alabama’s? And if so, should Rambo have made the remark? If not, why not? Please post below.

Saturday’s SEC Championship game will match up No. 2 Alabama versus No. 3 Georgia. Please check back all week for the AJC’s coverage of “SEC Championship Week”

LOL While Ga fans get giddy about being ranked # 3 they forget they haven’t played but two good teams all year (SC & FL) filling there schedule with the Buffalo’s, Florida Atlantics and Georgia Southerns lets them thump their chests at the record, but wait till they play a very good team -Bama by 17

Tide Whisperer I think he was respectful but wanted to make sure everyone understood two things 1) UGA has as good as or better players and 2) we aren’t afraid to say so..this will be a war I think and may the best team win.

Msaybe Georgia has more talent. Maybe not. Alabama seems to play their defense better. But this comment isn’t going to affect this game one iota. Here’s why: the teams were already going to be playing with maximum motivation. The winner goes to the national championship. If that didn’t already have you as motivated as you can possibly get, then, you’ve got a real problem that a little smack talk from the other side won’t make for

How do you put a muzzle on a big mouth??? You just can’t fix stupid!! Why would anyone want to put a monkey on his team’s back? Talk about asinine, this tops the list! Alabama has to be drooling over this statement and can’t wait to shut Rambo’s big mouth! You simply don’t chide a lion and that’s exactly what Alabama is! Sure, you may beat the but you sure don’t help them by throwing fuel on the fire! All I gotta say, Rambo, you better be prepared to back up what you say! GO DAWGS!!

What’s all this “we” garbage? “We are going to destroy Bama”. “We run this state”. “We are a better team”. Not a person on this board suited up and played one second for the team they cheer for. It always seems so sad to me that you try to latch on to other people’s accomplishments just because you buy tickets or watch them on TV.

You Idiot! I can not believe Rambo is talking crap. Alabama is a Great team. Alabama did not get embarrassed by SC this season. You know how hard it is going to be to beat Saban twice in one season. So Rambo misses 4 games this season along with how many other players. How many Alabama players were smoking dope when they know they have a chance to win a NC? Rambo is an idiot for runnning his mouth. Alabama does not need any tacklin fuel. I want Uga to win., but not with a bunch of thugs running their mouth. Play football. win SEC and Win NC. Then brag. Please keep your mouth shut. Alabama’s players on the bench will be going to the NFL.

If they come out thinking they can roll over Georgia then they will have a hard road to hoe….I have been a Bama fan since the Bear’s days and have seen many a good time and bad…they are good but not unbeatable ..looking forward to a great SEC showdown, hats off to the Dawg fans and players for getting there and may the best team win !!! Bama doesn’t need any comments to get motivated for the game. This is a play in game to the National Title game. If someone needs added motivation then something is wrong.

Let’s talk football. As a Bama fan I’m concerned about JJ coming off the edge. As good as our OL is we have had trouble at times with speed rushers coming off the edge and JJ is the best in the country. If AJ has time to throw then I think he will find Cooper for a big play or 2. As usual we gonna also play smash mouth football. Interesting to see how UGA handles that.

On the other side of the ball we don’t have a pass rusher like JJ so we will have to bring pressure to get to Murray. How Murray handles that pressure will be the key to the game to me. If he can stand in the pocket and deliver accurate passes then I think it will be a close game. If he buckles and starts to commit turnovers then UGA will be in trouble. What say you UGA fans?

There is nothing, nothing like college football and will never be….I love it and always will, my children and grandchildren are all just as passionate about there favorite teams! It is GREAT… Roll Tide and the SEC…

I say the UGA fans thumping their chests and bumping their gums are the delusional, less educated portion of the fan base. Most knowledgeable fans are expecting Bama to bring their “A” game. We know for Bama it’s a big game, but, you have been there before, recently, and have an excellent coach. I’m listening to Saban now on ESPN showering acholades on our team, players, and coach.

I’ve said it before and will say it again, win or lose, let’s represent ourselves with class and play well. Go Dawgs !

clint I think you make some great points, our OL has the test of the season coming and if and its a big if they can give Murray time to throw I think our receivers are as good as any Bama has faced this year and could get some long completions . However if Murray has to run for his life all game well it will be a painful evening for UGA fans like me. I don’t think we can run against you guys unless we can pass and keep the LB’s honest.

Is UGA more talented? Without a doubt. We have 5 players that will be top 30 picks next year plus some fantastic freshman that will eventually be. Alabama’s talent mostly went to the NFL last year.

But better? Only if they can execute to the level of Bama, which plays nearly perfect schematic defense. It is possible for UGA to be better, but Bama is week in week out

Utah Dawg

Does not matter one way or the other. I think both teams are already at maximum motivation levels for this game given the stakes. Bulletin board crap, trash talking on or off the field is overrated by ignorant fans. Comes down to game plans, execution of said plan, turnovers, and play making by your skill players. Oh and about 50% will come down to quarterback play. Murray stays hot with plenty of O line protection and Dawgs win.

And why woud they use capital letters? How does that work? they go to the newspaper and see if they can get a reprint of the story all in caps?

Or does somebody take the time to go get a poster board and copy it all out word for word? And who would that be. A grad assistant? A player? A player’s mama? Is that seriously something that they would really take the time to do over there?

Most of you probably never played sports; talking smack or as we called in back in the day, ‘Talking $hit’. What is there to be afraid of, getting teh other team up to play more. Hell, it’s a championship game and even without teh smack, ALabama will be ready. UGA’s defense is a confident and talented bunch and I agree with Rambo, position by position UGA is better, just have to put it all together.

I am talking $hit already to my Bama Azz friends (not just ow, all year) and I am okay with Rambo doing teh same. Iy you do not bel;ieve in yourself, who else ill? You weak azz fans, NOT…

When will these kids learn to keep their mouth shut. Georgia has their best chance in yars to win the SEC and then you start trash talking. Thats not confidence, it is arrogance and that will cost them the game.

There is no real edge coming from a player’s mouth when speaking about their competition. Early in the year, the Georgia safety gave his own players a wake up call, and it has worked. Word is the Alabama offensive line is feed up with Barrett Jones and all he thinks he knows and is. They also feel like Barrett Jones thinks his _ _ _ _ does not stick. D.J. Fluker has said so in private company, and that should be news as Chance Womack along with Fluker are adverse to Jones’ mouth and ways. So not all is so perfect here in Crimson Tide Country.

I like football a bunch, but I am not too hot on the Tide. See here in Bama Country when the Bear was the coach there were a whole lot of fathers that forgot about their kids. My Dad’s first thought was Alabama Football and NASCAR and Talladega, and us kids. See sister and I were left with Mom. So not everyone here cares so much about the States # 1 Religion, Football.

Make me wonder if we will ever get past Montgomery, and our lack of schooling. Sorry, but the truth is people here are sick, and sick and tired of too much of Alabama Football. Ask the wives here, and you will get the truth.

Maybe a few losses will open someones eyes to what the world really looks like. Would be nice to have more variety here in Sweet Home Alabama.

Maybe Auburn will get the coach they are looking for, and Tuscaloosa will get a new Wal-Mart. The one we have now is too crowded, and Sams is right next door. Same parking lot to.

Hopefully it will be a good game and both teams will show up with their A games. And when the dust settles we will see who the best team is. For me I have been to All of BAMA home games and i can say Bama has always been in every game and i don’t see them not showing up for this one. I am a Bama fan living in Georgia and see nothing wrong with Rambo’s comments as long as he is there to back them up. I would suggest that Rambo do a little research before running his mouth though (that goes for any player). Bama Leads the nation in scoring defense nearly 8.5 points better than Georgia. Bama Leads the nation in total defense(YPG) at 233 to Georgia’s 337. So yes UGA has better Draft Ready talent this year(Most bama defenders are underclassmen). However, bama has depth and discipline and that goes along ways.

Best of Luck to you Dawgs and your fans if the Tide don’t win ill be rooting for you against Notre Dame.
