UGA’s Rambo: “I feel like we’re more talented (than Alabama)”

One of UGA’s veteran defenders has provided some of the first bulletin board material of the week in advance of Saturday’s SEC Championship showdown between the Bulldogs and Alabama.

UGA safety Bacarri Rambo went on ESPN radio after Saturday’s blowout win over Georgia Tech and said some words that will surely get the attention of Nick Saban:

“I feel like we’re more talented (than Alabama). We have better players at each position, across the board, especially on defense. It’s going to be a great challenge for us. I know it’s going to be a battle. It’s going to come down to who has the best defense and who makes more turnovers. It’s going to be a battle of the defenses.”

Which defense is better?

What do you think? Is Rambo correct? Is UGA’s defense better than Alabama’s? And if so, should Rambo have made the remark? If not, why not? Please post below.

Saturday’s SEC Championship game will match up No. 2 Alabama versus No. 3 Georgia. Please check back all week for the AJC’s coverage of “SEC Championship Week”

Two ways to build winning teams:

1. Hire 1st rate coaches and recruit players with talent and character (example: Alabama).

2. Hire 3rd rate wannabe coaches and recruit low class trash, then schedule a lot of crap teams (example: Georgia).

Method #1 works. Method #2 gets you a decent W-L record, but no championships.

It will be the best Defence THAY HAVE FACED ALL YEAR … likewize for GA.

Perhaps I missed it, as it was not quoted in the article, but to what question is Rambo responding? Was he asked if he thought Georgia had a chance to beat Bama? Was he asked if his defense was as good as Bama’s. It wouldn’t surprise me if ESPN baited him since they are so Pro Bama. Even the Georgia players know that everyone at ESPN and around the country give them very little chance to win this game. They already have Bama in the championship game.

I don’t really think that anything anyone says could motivate either team more than they already are. What more motivation do they need; SEC championship and national championship game birth on the line. Enough said.

Maybe Rambo felt obligated, as a leader of the defense, to respond to the question in such a way as to give his team confidence, to show them that he believes. If the dawgs don’t already believe they can hang with Bama, why play the game? I truly hope that every dawg has the same mentality of Rambo and plays with the intensity we know they can play with come game day.

Way to go Ga. I knew the big talking Ga would be waiting for me on Monday. I want to hear it loud mutts. Pat yourself on the back and have that attitude, you don;t think you/re better, you know you are. Forget the facts. Alabama has been the top recruiting college for the last 3 or 4 years. Saban ant bad. Alabama leads the nation in defense.
I love the BS Ga loves to come out with.
All we are is old country boys that will hit you in the mouth and you will fold like a lawn chair.

Kind of reminds me of the ‘blackout game’. Not smart. I am calling Mitchell’s 15 yard taunting penalty today. I wonder if that could be assessed on the opening kickoff to get it over with. Then, he will keep talking before someone has to bench him for a few plays. And that will be off a 3 yard pass and catch.

I will give it to Rambo. Since 1980, that has been the way Ga people do it. They tell you 1000 times why they are better and you are rednecks, Meanwhile you hit them in the mouth and they turn black.

Rambo is the most overrated football player I have seen in my lifetime and now has taken it upon himself to become the “Joe Biden” of football. What a clown!!!! Can anyone see “BLACKOUT 2″ coming our way. WHY, WHY can we not keep our mouths shut and just go play football. The REASON: NO CONTROL…NONE.

Sometimes it seems like the Ga fans on here are like little boys. They will lay out a plan to defeat Bama. Sack the QB, stop the RB, throw touchdowns and tell they how easy it will be.
Real deep thinkers.

I hate bulletin board material as I have seen it work before as incredible motivation. That said, they shouldn’t interview these young men right after a big win against a rival. These kids are so pumped up they could say almost anything. Let the coaches direct their own talking points.

Seriously, I would rather the players don’t talk and for Richt to blow smoke up Bama’s butt about how unbeatable they look, all the while stoking my team’s fire behind the scenes, and then showing the Tide their own exposed backsides (thanks to Mr. Manziel) on national TV.

We’ll see what this stupid goon has to say after Alabama hands him his head on a platter. Low class punks like Rambo should keep their mouths shut so everyone won’t see how stupid they are.

Let’s see how clever he sounds when he’s asking people if they want fries with their burger.

Bacarri- all you had to do was shut your mouth and go unnoticed for the week and then come out and play ball. Instead you’ve decided to provide bulletin board material to the defending national champions. Nice job.

Flying under the radar is much more attractive in this game than running your damn mouth making headlines.

What kind of gimmick will Richt do this week? Close practices and act like Saban is spying?
A kiss on the mouth from Catherine on national TV? Rush the field and blame it on the players?
Act like Bama is coming to their own funeral? Black must be back because you know it will scare Bama. I got it, claim the Lord is on your side.

I don’t think there was anything wrong with what he said. Once again as the media LOVES to do is take someone’s comments out of context. I’m with you Dawgfan12, I would like to see what question he was asked that resulted in his response.

I mean come on people what’s the kid supposed to say, “Oh I feel Bama’s got better athletes than we do?”

All he said was “I FEEL like we have better players at each position”. He then goes on to say “It’s going to be a great challenge for us. I know it will be a battle.”

That hardly sounds like trash talk to me. It sounds like a player who:

1. Believes in his teammates and is (unlike the rest of America) confident in the Dawgs ability to not only be competitive in the game but actually win it.

2. Has respect for his opponent and knows that they are going to have to fight to win the game and can’t just “show up”.

I swear I don’t know what’s happening in our school systems but there are A LOT of you all who need to go to your local JUCO or Community College and take a READING COMPREHENSION course.

As for the game this Sat, Saban has got to be concerned with not only our defense but the offense. Did anyone notice how much “no huddle” we ran against Tech. That was practice for Bama.

Saban has been crying all season long about how the rules need to be changed regarding no huddle offenses. It’s the one area his defensive schemes have a weakness with, because he likes to change his personnel often based on what the offense is showing and to keep them fresh. Texas A&M ate them up with it. Bama has not faced an offense like ours, combined with a defense like we have. Bama is also down a receiver, which means we will be able to go man-coverage and load up to stop the run and pressure McCarron.

St. Bernard

The difference is that Bama’s o-line is twice as good as ours, which I’m afraid will make up for our defense being better.

Bulletin board material? It’s just a thought to which BR and many others believe. They finally have their confidence, and believe in their self for a change. As far as bulletin board material, what about the past several years of the Dawgs hearing Bama, LSU, UF, etc – “this and that”…. ESPN singing about everyone but UGA (for years now), and rightfully so at times. I recall in ‘07 when Kerby leaned towards the bandwagon of UGA towards the end, favoring a match with them and USC for the NC. After that though, never to be heard of again. Must have gotten reprimanded by ESPN for mentioning UGA. Sad when there is too many pigeons and not enough statues. Seems as though when UGA wins, the opposition is down-played (a bit of bias), or was a “nobody”. They (UGA) purchased the “do less with more” banner – hands down, BUT you have to give credit when it’s due. Don’t you know that deep within themselves they are well equipped and ready to take this stage against “any of them”. Win or lose! Maturation and chemistry, belief in one another. You are what you accept. Talent level is matched well, leaving it for a head-to-head coaching dual. For that alone, I question Bobo showing up – more so than AM. Stats, #s, etc. – toss that straight out of the window. Going to be all heart and will. UGA lost the opportunity to prove themselves to the media (and others), but here Bama stands again. Good ole destiny. GO DAWGS!!!
