Georgia still third in BCS standings — barely

Georgia remained third in the new BCS standings Sunday night, narrowly staying ahead of Florida despite a 42-10 win over Georgia Tech Saturday.

Florida gained points from a 37-26 win over Florida State Saturday but still stood fourth, just behind Georgia. The Bulldogs have .8911 points in the new BCS poll, the Gators are at .8882.

Notre Dame (.9979) was No. 1 and Alabama (.9236) No. 2 in the new standings. The Bulldogs play Alabama for the SEC championship Saturday and would earn a berth in the national title game against Notre Dame if they beat the Crimson Tide.

More details to come.

Gators will pass the Dawgs once Bama crushes them and head to the Sugar Bowl with Dawgs shipped to Liberty Bowl.

ZZ Gator……

Remember….Georgia beat Florida. No way Bama crushes the Dawgs. Could be the other way, however. Georgia is very, very good right now….and I think they win in Atlanta by a TD or more….and the Gators play Oklahoma in the BIG EASY. Go Gators.

SImply don’t understand why the coaches ranked Oregon over Florida. Who in the heck has Oregon defeated that is in the top 25???? No one. Florida…..4 teams in the top 13 have gone down to the Gators.

I really don’t know what to expect Saturday. I feel really good about Georgia right now, but I’m afraid our Oline will get dominated by their Dline like when we played S. Carlolina. Aside from that, I feel we have equal defense skill (maybe not equal as a unit) and a much, much, much better offense. Let’s play the game out and see what happens. Need Murray to really step it up in a big game, but Gurshell might get stuffed this weekend. Gotta look to Malcom Mitchell, T. King and the Tight Ends to move the ball. Go Dawgs, it has been a long time coming.

I have to agree with you. No way Oregon should be ranked ahead of Florida. It’s the national SEC bias. The media can’t stand having so many SEC teams in the top 10. Congratulations on the Gators’ win over FSU. Your boys looked good, BUT I notice that no one says “but FSU turned the ball over 5 times” to try to make the win illegitimate like they do about the UGA win over Florida with the 6 turnovers. The way I see it, UGA FORCED those turnovers much like Florida FORCED the turnovers against FSU. That’s part of the game. Great seasons by both of our teams.

@ Dawgfan – We will see in a week when the Gators head to the Sugar Bowl and the puppies end up in the Liberty after getting trounced by Alabama. Quit acting like you have already won something.

We will just have to earn some respect. Alabama and Florida have plenty in the bank.

Oregon? Why would Oregon be ahead of Florida in any poll? Makes no sense.

As much a “they” love Alabama let’s say UGA beats Bama but not by a hundred points. Alabama drops but not much. They stay ahead of Florida (it could happen?). Florida gets left out in the cold then, in the same way Florida fans are now saying Georgia will if Alabama wins.

Georgia doesn’t have the media and popular support to avoid a precipitous drop (in the same way Alabama might), so we have to win to avoid the Liberty Bowl.

I like what Saban said about something being wrong when the loser of the SEC championship game gets the shaft. I like it because I agree with him, and I like it because it means he must know that losing is a possibility for either team.

I don’t think we’re going to lose, but I keep in mind that in order to lose in the championship game you have to be in the championship game (unlike Florida, thanks to UGA).

What a screwed up system when a great team like Alabama can end up in a bad bowl after we beat them, while a crapeepee team like Tech could end up in a BCS bowl should they happen to hit FSU on a bad day!

Go, Dawgs!

Well good for you TCDawg and Dawgfan I guess you would be used to moral victory bowls. I’ll take an 11-1 season and a Sugar Bowl berth. Don’t go crying when you get the liberty bowl. I’ll take my 3 rings since the last time UGA won one. Roll Tide!!!

Somebody needs to tell Rambo to shut up till after the game. Then, he can say what he likes, because he will have proven it. I think the Dogs will get beaten like a drum, but I hope I am wrong.

If UGA loses they are not going to the Liberty Bowl, most likely it would be the Outback or Chick fil a Bowls. That really sucks considering they won the East.Seems to me the runner up should get an automatic bid to the Sugar Bowl.

I’m a DAWG so I’m pretty much against anything to do with FL but have 2 give them their due for playing 1 on fthe hardest schedules. 4 top 10 teams is pretty tough & also scarl also played tough schedule. I’m just glad that our win vs FL was 1. against spurriers alma mater and 2. knocked both his schools out of race completey. I know he doubled his dose of Zantac that night and probably still is. hahhahaha Dawgs have best team N country, if Murray will keep his composure. that is The Key

Florida might be best team in country but it is what it is. The gators have won three mythical NC and never have had an undefeated season. This stupid system requires luck and timing and the Dawgs have had both. Going to a BCS bowl quit being presteigiuos when they started giving automatic bids to Big East and ACC and playing for the Crystal Trophy. Vandy could beat any team in BIg East so how is a BCS bowl a prestigious event. It is not. The prestigious event is in the Georgia Dome and the Dawgs are in it. After that I could care less what meaningnless bowl game we play in.

so why is no one upset that Notre DAmn does not have to play into the championship game but Alabama/UGA and the other conferences do…
Yes I know ND is and independent school….so what…
ALL the more reason for a playoff scenario with more than just 4 teams…

Sounds like Florida is having a year like UGA did in 2007. Oh wait UGA was much more talented than they were! I bet some of the Florida fans will be cheering for ND if UGA makes it to the NC…idiots. I am a UGA fan,but have never cheered so hard for a team than I did for Florida when they played Oklahoma. I hope the SEC fans stick together during Bowl Season! Go Dawgs!

We beat UF, Tech and we are going to the Championship Game. All lizards and bugs, deal with it! As for said lizards: If you play a team(in whatever bowl) with a decent defense and a QB that can throw to the right colored jersys, you’ll lose. Hope for better in 2013.
