Georgia is third in the new Bowl Championship Series standings, which were released Sunday night.
Notre Dame is No. 1 and Alabama is No. 2. All three teams moved up after Oregon and Kansas State were upset Saturday night. Florida is fourth in the BCS.
The top two teams in the BCS standings at the end of the season will play for the national championship on Jan. 7 in Miami.
If Georgia beats Georgia Tech and Alabama beats Auburn Saturday, the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will play for the SEC championship, with the winner advancing to play for the national title.
Notre Dame, Alabama and Georgia also held the top three spots in Sunday’s Associated Press poll.
In other college news Sunday, Tennessee fired coach Derek Dooley. Dooley, 44, had a 15-21 record that included an 0-15 mark against Top 25 teams.

Our entrance to the single elimination playoffs begins next weekend when we play the only game that counts. Georgia Tech is the only team that matters this week.

UGA just needs to focus…..focus on beating GA Tech, then focus on the SECCG in Atlanta. That has been a major issue for CMR and his teams in the past. Georgia has probably the most realistic chance to play for a BCS Title now than they have ever had in the CMR era. Let’s see if CMR can keep his players focused and get them coached up against playing Alabama. There are a lot of people who believe that Georgia can handle Alabama, but do the DAWGS feel like they can beat Bama?? That’s the million dollar question. Do they come out flat and timid like they did against South Carolina or do they come confident and strong like they did against Florida. The tale of two different teams will be the difference maker. Go DAWGS!!

UGA has played number 6 Florida and 12 South Carolina. They lost to South Carolina 35 to 7 and it could have been worse. UGA beat Florida because they had 6 turnovers and one was right at goal line for possible tie of the score, won by 8. UGA has struggled against many teams no where to be found on the top 25 list, not played any other team rated.
Ask yourself the honest question: Is it fair once you see the schedules that Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida and South Carolina have played??
No, but doesn’t matter, UGA has an opportunity now regardless. South Carolina has beat UGA three straight years, if UGA wins the NC what title should be given to South Carolina. Champion of the Champion

Game Changer……if you want fair, go to a elementary school and watch a recess kickball tournament. This is College Football. Based on your logic, if Alabama were to win than A&M gets to be the Champion of Champion?? Look if Georgia wins the NC…..South Carolina fans will be able to put their 2012 Schedule on their “pride” t-shirts and you can circle that game. Georgia will proudly hoist the crystal ball.

@gamechanger… Look at Bama’s schedule while you are nickpicking UGA’s. Barely beat LSU who lost to FLA ( UGA beat) and struggled mightily with Ole Miss yesterday who UGA easily dismissed. Lost to Texas A&M who lost to LSu and Fla. Did not have to play UGA or Fla or South Carolina. Who is deserving now?

A RTR Hit-N-Run from ATL
November 18th, 2012
2:26 pm
Okay, a new thread?
Overrated. That is what UGA is. I look at the standings and I know UGA could not beat Alabama. They could not beat and have not in a long time beat South Carolina. They beat Florida but I doubt they could do it tw… actually, UF is getting worse and worse every week that goes by. Maybe UF should be dropped from top 15? Anyways, FSU? No way, FSU wins. A&M? Hello Johnny Football, easy win. LSU? LSU wins. Oregon? Oregon scores 50… by half. Stanford? Stanford wins close.
The reason I can say all of this with certainty, is that UGA always loses the big games unless there is a hurricane and the other team melts down and turns the ball over. Even then, the other team was in position to tie and win at the end. It’s mind boggling how overrated UGA is this year but it’s a product of one of the fishiest schedules ever devised for an SEC team.
Even then it couldn’t stop UGA from doing what they do best, lose in big games.
52-14. Alabama makes a statement to get Saban off their back.

The key to beating Bama is with Aaron Murray’s continued improved play and confidence in the big game. Also, no injuries against the bugs. NO WAY tek wins in Athens or any field for that matter.

ND would beat GA. You guys have beat 2 teams that have a winning record. Scheduling Buffalo (4-7), Florida Atlantic (3-8) and GA Southern (1-AA) is really bad. You are 1-1 vs BCS top 25 so don’t get your hopes up. Nothing wrong with supporting your team but at least be realistic and honest when you talk about your season and the competition you have played. Your opponents winning per centage is 47%. Nothing to write home about.

“UF is getting worse and worse every week that goes by.”
Worse and worse is 3-0 since Georgia…..10 and 1 (lost only to the 3rd ranked team in the country)……..while beating Texas A&M, LSU, and South Carolina…….well…..is that is “worse and worse”……then give me “worse and worse”…..
Florida’s defense (the absolute best in the country)….with limit FSU offensively….and with some breaks and turnovers…..Florida can beat FSU in their house, but it will not be easy. And if they do, Florida’s win resume this year will be second to none……Texas A&M, LSU, South Carolina, and FSU…..and I will match those wins against Notre Dame’s schedule and wins any day. And…if Florida beats FSU (if somehow the offense wakes up and plays just a decent game without turnovers)…..and if Georgia beats Bama…..I think Georgia and Florida should replay for the National Title…..even if Notre Dame is undefeated…..but we know that will never happen.

I have watched Georgia play since the very tough and deserving win over Florida…..and they are playing as well….or better…..than any team in the country. I am not sure who could beat Georgia right now. If Bama and Georgia played next weekend…..I would take Georgia by 10 over Bama. They are a better team right now. But Bama still has the better coach. Georgia really needs Florida to beat Florida State and for South Carolina to beat Clemson this next weekend so Georgia’s win at Florida and their lost at South Carolina will mean a lot more when comparing strength of Schedule. If Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC Championship then they would have beaten two top ten teams and their only lose would have been to a team ranked around 10. A lot more impressive than Notre Dame , Oregon or Kansas State. Strength of schedule should be the most important after every team has finished the year not what the team you beat was ranked when you beat them but what ranking they ended at the end of regular play plus the Conference Championship.

@Taco
UGA is the only Top Ten pretender ND could beat in my humble opinion.

Oddmakers in Las Vegas say that Notre Dame would be an underdog on a neutral field against any of the top “six” teams in the SEC..Like last year the SEC championship game is the national title game in spite of what GT Bob says.

I have no doubt that if the dawgs really want it they can play with Alabama could be a very good game. My biggest concern is coaching, Saban is hard to beat when it means the most but it can happen. SEC wins another NC.

Texas A&M (9-2) plays 6 teams ranked in top 25 and loses to 2, UGA (10-1) plays 2 teams in top 25 and loses 1, UGA ranked 3rd, A&M 10th….go figure, strength of schedule (NOT) …..perfect example of why the polls don’t mean much! Also……like Otis…….
Some of you people need to get over the fact that Georgia did not play an overly challenging schedule this year and realize that they won the games they needed to win to be currently ranked number 3 in the land…..and if they beat Bama in Atlanta….they will be playing for the National Title. If that happens……they more than earned that opportunity. Florida blew it. Georgia earned it. Simple as that.

More stupid people breed. More stupid people are allowed to vote. Stupid people make up the new majority. Stupid people get voted into the White House.

Did you know that when you put a bulldog in the water, it sinks like a rock?
Did you know that the bulldog is the second-most untrainable dog (next to the bassett hound).
Aside from this, I applaud Coach Richt for doing what it takes to break the top 5. He is definitely a great coach, and will be remembered as such. If it weren’t for Richt’s leadership and knowledge, well . . .

Arrows or bones? It’s tough, TG. I guess I’m ever so slightly more FSU than UGA, but wife’s ever so slightly more UGA than FSU. Fortunately for our marriage, they seldom play each other.
As for this weekend, we look pretty evenly matched to me. Like you said, our O against your D. I believe a W would mean more to FSU simply because we sorely need one over a legitimate opponent, and a 10-1 SEC team certainly meets that criterion. Just hoping we can keep the crowd in it Saturday.
May the best team . . . .

NOBODY had a crazy tough schedule this year. Not Alabama, not Notre Dame, not the Bulldogs. Some were slightly harder, some slightly easier. Bottom line is the wins and the losses. Notre Dame should be #1 and rightly so. Personally I believe UGA should be ranked above Alabama. They had a slightly tougher schedule and prevailed against Flordia who arguably had the toughest schedule.
Everybody can argue all day long about confrence toughness and all that but if you don’t win all your games then the ambiguity will remain. I’m not a UGA fan but I believe that UGA is better than Alabama. If they stay focused and beat GT and Alabama then they should go to the NC.
Georgia is a fairly well balanced team and I would have said 3 weeks ago that they would probably beat Notre Dame but the Irish offense keeps getting better. If Golson plays against USC like he has the last 3 weeks then the Irish will win and be in the NC.
Notre Dame vs Georgia is the better game I believe because Alabama only had one strong game against LSU, the rest has been 2nd tier teams. They SHOULDN’T have lost against A&M but they did. The Irish and Georgia match up well and it would be a close game. I believe ND would prevail 20-17 but it really could go either way. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
