Georgia is third in the new Bowl Championship Series standings, which were released Sunday night.
Notre Dame is No. 1 and Alabama is No. 2. All three teams moved up after Oregon and Kansas State were upset Saturday night. Florida is fourth in the BCS.
The top two teams in the BCS standings at the end of the season will play for the national championship on Jan. 7 in Miami.
If Georgia beats Georgia Tech and Alabama beats Auburn Saturday, the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will play for the SEC championship, with the winner advancing to play for the national title.
Notre Dame, Alabama and Georgia also held the top three spots in Sunday’s Associated Press poll.
In other college news Sunday, Tennessee fired coach Derek Dooley. Dooley, 44, had a 15-21 record that included an 0-15 mark against Top 25 teams.

Obama….
Maybe, if I only wrote sentences as simple sentences (you know, sentences with one subject and one predicate; without prepositions and dependent clauses), you would be able to comprehend better. Oh….that wasn’t one. Sorry.

The best is FSU. That is what you get for joining the ACC. Now go play James Madison or whoever the other ACC division champ is. Then go play in a half filled Orange Bowl against the MAC champ.

Georgia does not make its own schdedule besides the “out of conference schedule”. The SEC sets our SEC schedule including the games from the SEC west. Our “out of conference schedule” is no different than most teams. Look at yesterdays games, Alabama vs Western Kentucky, Florida vs Jax ST, South Carolina vs Wofford??? Do not criticize UGA’s “out of conference schedule” unless you criticize everyones schedule. Go Dawgs!!

Florida’s defense (the absolute best in the country)….with limit FSU offensively….and with some breaks and turnovers…..Florida can beat FSU in their house, but it will not be easy. And if they do, Florida’s win resume this year will be second to none……Texas A&M, LSU, South Carolina, and FSU…..and I will match those wins against Notre Dame’s schedule and wins any day. And…if Florida beats FSU (if somehow the offense wakes up and plays just a decent game without turnovers)…..and if Georgia beats Bama…..I think Georgia and Florida should replay for the National Title…..even if Notre Dame is undefeated…..but we know that will never happen.

But…..I would not get too worried Dawg fans……Florida does have a national championship defense….but unfortunately…..Florida has to go in and play on offense. It would take a miracle for the Gators to beat FSU this weekend. FSU 21, Florida 3. I hope I am wrong. Then LSU moves back into the picture, along with Oregon.

Marty H, what position were you, or you just saying “my team”, because your life is so vacant of purpose your whole identity is a sports team?

Actually Florida’s defense is #4 in the country, not the best. Their offense is ranked 106th. Wow.

FSU should win this weekend. The Noles has a much better offense…..but Florida has a much better defense. Florida will need turnovers and defensive scores to win. I expect FSU to play close to the best and try to avoid those turnovers. The refs are going to have their hands full Saturday.

Teams whose one loss was 35-0 have no business in the BCSNC game. It doesn’t really matter. No matter who the SECW opponent is, UGA will get crushed as usual.

No team in the NC game discussions–including UGA–has lost 35-0. Dolt.

UGA played three cupcakes this year (including an FCS team). Four if you count Tech. Most teams play only two. Need to toughen up the OOC schedule, then SOS is a non-issue–or an ally–at season’s end.

Arrows or bones? It’s tough, TG. I guess I’m ever so slightly more FSU than UGA, but wife’s ever so slightly more UGA than FSU. Fortunately for our marriage, they seldom play each other.
As for this weekend, we look pretty evenly matched to me. Like you said, our O against your D. I believe a W would mean more to FSU simply because we sorely need one over a legitimate opponent, and a 10-1 SEC team certainly meets that criterion. Just hoping we can keep the crowd in it Saturday.
May the best team . . . .

Game Changer – the title south carolina should get is the “we didnt win our games but we will whine like little girls” championship. You know whats even funnier ? With the schedule shuffling the SEC did – south carolina now has texas a&m as their permanent rival from the west instead of Arkansas…. spurrier – meet johnny football. haha

Lol game changer your talking about a 3 year winning streak? If you don’t recall UT just lost to Vanderbilt and that was a 30 year winning streak.

NOBODY had a crazy tough schedule this year. Not Alabama, not Notre Dame, not the Bulldogs. Some were slightly harder, some slightly easier. Bottom line is the wins and the losses. Notre Dame should be #1 and rightly so. Personally I believe UGA should be ranked above Alabama. They had a slightly tougher schedule and prevailed against Flordia who arguably had the toughest schedule.
Everybody can argue all day long about confrence toughness and all that but if you don’t win all your games then the ambiguity will remain. I’m not a UGA fan but I believe that UGA is better than Alabama. If they stay focused and beat GT and Alabama then they should go to the NC.
Georgia is a fairly well balanced team and I would have said 3 weeks ago that they would probably beat Notre Dame but the Irish offense keeps getting better. If Golson plays against USC like he has the last 3 weeks then the Irish will win and be in the NC.
Notre Dame vs Georgia is the better game I believe because Alabama only had one strong game against LSU, the rest has been 2nd tier teams. They SHOULDN’T have lost against A&M but they did. The Irish and Georgia match up well and it would be a close game. I believe ND would prevail 20-17 but it really could go either way. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
