Saints call Falcons ‘classless’

The New Orleans Saints — still trying to put the infamous “Bountygate” scandal behind them — are calling the Falcons “classless” after handing Atlanta its first loss of the season Sunday.

From USA Today:

“They were talking (expletive) to our guy Curtis Lofton,” Saints linebacker Scott Shanle told Mike Silver on Sunday night. “I couldn’t even understand them. They were just walking all over our drills trying to mess with him. (Linebacker Jonathan) Vilma went and told their coach it was classless and they didn’t even say anything. It set the tone for the day. It was classless and they got what they deserved.”

Lofton is a former Falcon playing in his first season with the Saints.

Vilma, by the way, is only playing while he appeals a year-long suspension for allegedly participating in a program that paid players for injuring opposing players.

Some of the Saints players were also offended by a dance video made by Atlanta safety William Moore.

The “D-Block” rap video was posted on the Falcons’ website over the weekend.

“That video would never be allowed nor would our players make a video like that in our locker room,” NBC’s Pro Football Talk quoted an unidentified “Saints source.”

Of course, the Falcons have done their part to stoke the rivalry, which has been dominated in recent years by the Saints.

Last week, Roddy White told the Journal-Constitution:

“I don’t like nothing about the Saints. The colors. The city. Nothing. But they’ve got some good food, though. Other than the food, nothing.”

After Sunday’s game, White refused to credit the Saints.

“It’s not like they came out here and won a game,” he said. “I think we kind of gave it to them.”

Shanle, however, told Yahoo! Sports that Sunday’s result just proves the Saints “own” the Falcons.

“They’re like our little brothers. Deep down they know they can’t mess with us even when we are having a down year,” he said.

How would New Orleans and Jonathan Vilma know anything about class? First, Jonathan Vilma is a University of Miami thug that was part of the entire Saints pay for hurt bounty. The city of New Orleans is the worst city in America with nothing to add to society. You won a game …you are still out of the playoffs so get off the message boards and hope another hurricane doesn’t hit your pathetic city and kill some more cricket’s.

what am i taking too seriously? this all started with people posting about katrina…and you think i’m taking this too seriously. well then maybe answer me one thing……do you think posting that katrina killing people was a good thing…..do you think someone personally affected by that and losing people close to them was too serious? and if so, then why isn’t that important for actual REAL events that MATTER and KILL PEOPLE to inspire a blog? only posting about the falcons is important enough to you to blog about? please, \respond to this.

Justin, you seem woefully ignorant of the bountygate scandal. You might want to do some research about paying players to put someone out of the game or, worse, ending their career. When you do, I think you’ll find that your Aints are, indeed, classless.

Atlanta, the sissy nation. Defensive players are paid to hit people, if it hurts the other player or ends their career, who cares if it is a legal hit. Let’s play some football and stop holding hands. Go watch dancing with the stars if you can’t take it.

anyone out there think in this scenario that they could do anything other than natural reaction….someone hurts your brother or mom or sister or cousin or family…..so you try to hit them as hard as you can…then someone tells you they will pay you to hit them harder..do you really think you could hit someone harder just because they offered you money? Could you in your blind rage to injure actually target specific body parts?

Hey Falcons, what was the Giants record when they held you guys to 2points? A record ain’t sh%t! Falcons can still go 8-8 and anyone who new just a little bit about football would not brag on a record. Saints vs. Seahawks playoff, Giants vs. 16-0 Pats. And everybody is saying see the Saints in 3 weeks, you are going to see the same thing again geeez! Same song and dance from the Failcons just a different year. And for a team that has owned you guys in the past 5 years, just shut up and congratulate. Didn’t the Failcons just start having back to back winning seasons but has yet to win a playoff game under Matt Ryan? I would expect arrogance from Giant fans or Pat fans or Steeler fans, but seriously Atlanta? You guys first 8-0 start and your top dogs now? You wonder way no one takes you guys seriously! You guys like to use Ain’t alot so guess who AIN’T won a superbowl! Bounty Gate lol, who has been proven guilty of it, I’ll wait. Ya’ll better get Jamaal Anderson back if he isn’t sharing a bathroom stall with another man! This is all in fun, I was going to say in rivalry but it hasn’t quite been one lately lol!!

Looking at the comments above, it looks like the Falcons fans are just the same as the players – like a bunch of kids calling the other kids names. Get over it – you lost. Grow up and deal with it. And try winning a playoff game, much less a Superbowl, before you start running your mouths again. WHO DAT!!!

The Saints may have one Superbowl title, but let’s be real, in light of the recent findings, they are lucky the NFL didn’t strip them of it. The Saints have ALWAYS played dirty ball… THAT is nothing new. I saw plenty of encounters on Sunday that should have been penalties called on the Saints. But..I digress. I truly believe if the first match up between these two this year would have been in the dome, the outcome would have been totally different. The Saints just used their “dirty” fans to their advantage during this rival game. We shall see how the next match up goes…

Saints fans should also remember that we hold the win in the life of this rivalry 46-41.

@Mardi ~ FYI, the only time that Atlanta and New Orleans have met in the playoffs, Atlanta won that game. We HAVE won playoff games. It appears as though the New Orleans fans are just like their team, with ya know, calling a kettle black because in my opinion, you were the one acting like I child. The trash talking between the players occurred before and probably during the game. But I don’t see where any Falcon’s player is sour about loosing this game. We have bigger things to focus on than the ‘Aints.

you know…It seems like that is the only thing these fans will accept. I have tried admitting the bounty scandall….all i get is no comment…i have tried talking about the reality of football as relates to bounties…also no intelligent response…..and finally I have challenged the use of Katrina as an ammunition against saint’s fans…..also only to an incredibly insensitive disconnect between people dying to make a point and actually using facts and non offensive events to make your point. I hope dateline picks up the atlanta thread

yes!!!! 4-5 …no one here cares except they want to do better. New Orleans fans are no longer ashamed of their team and I think never have been past the skin level. I’d rather lose to a losing team than those glorifying a lack of life due to a natural disaster. Please someone who can offer some kind of opposition to my view of a “love your team” fan base to why katrina was good, call in and tell me just that, why katrina, the conversation starter, is so important to the fans on this website.

I’m glad the Atlanta Falcons released Defensive End Ray Edwards, the worst football player I’ve ever seen on the gridiron. Edwards was more interested in his uniform than tackling runners. I want to see the video that led the organization to signing this horrible excuse for a football player!

Classless? How about going 0-4, staying vewwwy, vewwwy quiet…..and I don’t recall a lot of Falcons fans trying to rub it in…..then, bucking up after winning by the last 20 seconds on the clock….and, by the way…. you take half the season to get out of the cellar….still below .500. Elevator down.

The Falcons have won 8 games and act like they are the New England Patriots. Nothing they do in the Regular Season is relevant. They need to get it done in the post-season to earn any kind of respect. When the playoffs begin everyone will be 0 and 0. Most of that 8 game winning record they beat their chest about were close games that could have gone either way against sub par disorderly teams with the exception of Denver (who is currently balling right now)

The road to the Superbowl will run through Green Bay, Chicago, San Francisco or the New York Giants (who embaraced them last year). Until they beat one of those teams, the Falcons really need to shut up and play football.

The Falcons have no championship pedigree or playoff experience. They swagger around like they are the most dominant team in the NFC. They better be careful or they will wind up like the Dennis Green Vikings teams with all that talent and wont go anywhere. I dont care what their apologists friends at 790 the zone say. The Falcons have great players but they are a little overrated.

As a New Orleans native and lifelong Saints fan, we were caught breaking the rules and deserve to be punished to the fullest extent (no excuses, no exceptions). We have won 11 of 13 against the Falcons, and look forward to settling the score again on the field on 11/29.

I have resided in Metro Atlanta for nearly 20 years. It’s a great city and highly progressive place to live in as millions have migrated here during the past few decades, and millions more are expected during the next 20+ years – http://www.atlantaregional.com.

However, in my opinion, Atlanta has never been a true sports town and many of its teams only have fair-weather fans. Conversely, as loyal Saints fans, we have and will continue to support our team during the bad and good seasons (i.e., 1-15 seasons or Super Bowl Champs). See you in the Georgia Dome on Nov. 29th!!!

The Saints will be watching the Falcons in the playoffs so this game doesn’t matter that much. Why are ‘The ‘Saints’ called saints anyway? If they are saints I’d hate to think about who are not saints.

The aints calling the Falcons classless or telling them to win something. NOLA backing into one superbowl win does not change the fact that Aints fans invented the paper bag on the head and are arguably the most underperforming team in the history of the NFL.

Saints win Sunday…..congrats. This is the NFL, where any team can beat any team.

Bottom line is Atlanta still was a best friend to New Orleans after Katrina, and of course no gratitude from the crescent ctiy.

I guess the Falcons will just have to be happy leading the NFC.

Also….the Kansas City Chiefs would like to thank the Aints for their lone victory of the year.

1st now but not at the end of the year when it counts, talk about classless just listen to #84 push-off roddy or is that push-off white, a receiver who’s only way of getting opened is by pushing off. And for all you classless falcon fans if you think your going to win one playoff game, much less the superbowl while averaging 7.4 yards per catch, your sadly mistaken, and for the classless falcon fans talking about the SAINTS and the bogus pay for injury lies by goodell, please show us your proof or your just as classless as goodell. What’s the difference between a dirty bath tub & a dirty bird?? The dirty bath tub has a ring. See you in a few weeks by that time the falcons will be 8 & 5 and your season will be headed down the toilet. The only thing with any class in the falcons locker room is Mike Smith, Matt Ryan & Tony Gonzales. WHO DAT!!!
