Days numbered for Chizik, Kiffin?
Time may be running out on Auburn coach Gene Chizik and USC coach Lane Kiffin.
Reports that Chizik will lose his job have been rampant as Auburn’s worst season in decades goes from bad to worse. Now, the website 247Sports.com, citing anonymous sources, reports that Auburn president Jay Gogue has told members of the Board of Trustees that he is preparing to possibly dismiss Chizik.
According to 247Sports.com, Gogue talked to board members about forming a committee to help with the process of firing Chizik and naming a new head coach “within days after the end of the season …”
The website named Louisville offensive coordinator Shawn Watson as a possible candidate to replace Chizik.
Kiffin, meanwhile, is on shaky ground after the Trojans announced they had been reprimanded and fined by the Pac-12 because a student manager deflated several footballs during the Trojans’ 62-51 loss to Oregon on Saturday.
Writes Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times:
On the field, this team with unbeaten talent is 6-3 while gaining national recognition mostly for reckless penalties and questionable play-calling.
Off the field, Kiffin has dragged the team through an array of distractions and ethics dilemmas that have tarnished the athletic department’s sterling post-probation image cultivated by Athletic Director Pat Haden.
Kiffin was not hired by Haden, and there is now real doubt about his ability to keep his job beyond this season as the department sinks deeper into embarrassment.
Although Kiffin denied knowing about the ball-deflating incident, he has been involved in several other questionable moves: He stopped allowing visiting teams to use the L.A. Coliseum the day before a game for traditional walk-throughs; banned a reporter for writing about injuries, before Haden reversed the ban; and changed numbers during games — a possible rules violation.
It appear, however, that Kiffin will at least finish out the season. The same may not be true for Chizik, whose team is 2-7, winless in the SEC and is facing No. 5 Georgia Saturday night. Could a beatdown by the Bulldogs seal Chizik’s fate?

I almost started feeling sorry for awbarn. Then I remembered 2010 and the championship they bought with a player who went to school for only one semester. I remember all the cheap shots by Unfairly. Roll up the score UGA and give Chizik a parting gift. UGA 55~AU 3.

No. Hedges ARE not a tradition. They are effin bushes. No matter how you cut them. Battle gym of the republic is a southern hymn that a ton of other schools play. No tradition at all. Just something else that shows the lack of creativity.

Ok, Chizik rode the Cam rail all the way and proved he is nothing after that. Any school that would hire the cheater, quitter Petrino needs to get beat like Chizik will be Saturday, like a drum.
Chizik is in over his head, Petrino is a low life human being. Any school that hires him tells their athletes, fans and other that winning comes before moral responsibility.

I have it on good authority that Bobby Petrino voted for Count Baracula of Taxylvania. Must be somethin’ wrong with his heritage. He xeroxed a Dear John letter to the Falcons while slinking off to Sausageville. Unstable, I’d say. I love that picture of him with his neckbrace and skint-up face. They orta make a puzzle out of it.
Kiffin leaves a trail of slime wherever he goes. Layla, though, would almost allow me to tolerate him….for a minute.

I’m glad he’s at USC. Hope he stays there and ruins the program. I’m sure Vowel fans wish he was still there cause Dooley is 10yrs away from being an average head coach in a major conference. Us LSU fans hate the Plainsmen much more than UGA fans so I hope they give Gene “a little more time” to get things together. Oh, and I don’t care about their stupid tree either. Plainsmen fans are nasty mean people and they deserve a crappy coach. To bad there was such a good coverup about the Newton ordeal. I’d like to see the whole school, make it the whole state circle the bowl out into the gulf. F U Plainsmen AND Tide fans. I hope thats nasty enough for you!!!!! Geaux Dawgs! We are in the business of MEN.Who cares what the future holds as long as these boys turn into men who are leaders in their industry in the coming years. I would much prefer a coach who could turn these boys into good men. I could care a less about championships. I love Gene! I think that he turns boys into men. I hope the rest of the Auburn family learns to love him too!
