Time may be running out on Auburn coach Gene Chizik and USC coach Lane Kiffin.
Reports that Chizik will lose his job have been rampant as Auburn’s worst season in decades goes from bad to worse. Now, the website 247Sports.com, citing anonymous sources, reports that Auburn president Jay Gogue has told members of the Board of Trustees that he is preparing to possibly dismiss Chizik.
According to 247Sports.com, Gogue talked to board members about forming a committee to help with the process of firing Chizik and naming a new head coach “within days after the end of the season …”
The website named Louisville offensive coordinator Shawn Watson as a possible candidate to replace Chizik.
Kiffin, meanwhile, is on shaky ground after the Trojans announced they had been reprimanded and fined by the Pac-12 because a student manager deflated several footballs during the Trojans’ 62-51 loss to Oregon on Saturday.
Writes Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times:
On the field, this team with unbeaten talent is 6-3 while gaining national recognition mostly for reckless penalties and questionable play-calling.
Off the field, Kiffin has dragged the team through an array of distractions and ethics dilemmas that have tarnished the athletic department’s sterling post-probation image cultivated by Athletic Director Pat Haden.
Kiffin was not hired by Haden, and there is now real doubt about his ability to keep his job beyond this season as the department sinks deeper into embarrassment.
Although Kiffin denied knowing about the ball-deflating incident, he has been involved in several other questionable moves: He stopped allowing visiting teams to use the L.A. Coliseum the day before a game for traditional walk-throughs; banned a reporter for writing about injuries, before Haden reversed the ban; and changed numbers during games — a possible rules violation.
It appear, however, that Kiffin will at least finish out the season. The same may not be true for Chizik, whose team is 2-7, winless in the SEC and is facing No. 5 Georgia Saturday night. Could a beatdown by the Bulldogs seal Chizik’s fate?

Mark Richt is sure starting to look better and better, especially during the Florida game when raising hell with the referees and Grantham for running on the field. Maybe it’s the hip pain, but I LIKE it a lot. Could care less about Chizik or Auiburn, but Laney Kifin is a real d..k and Lady Karma of the photographice memory and ability to hold the eternal grudge is warming up the oven to make that snot-nosed brat into a national disgrace although it’s arguable that only Petrino is a bigger jerk, and only by a slight margin. That’s tough to do, look worse that Petrino. Don’t you love it, folks? Well, don’t ya? He’s the kind of guy that makes a mockery of decent folks with his lieing, scheming, abandonment of TN and I don’t have a dog in that fight either except I’m a Falcons fan and can deeply appreciate the sense of disillusion that those fans must feel with he skulked away in the night with Daddy in tow. I certainly don’t wish the man ill health in any way, shape or form, but I’m looking forward to his firing like a first date with the hottest chick in high school.
Let’s give a round of applause to Karma, sweet, nasty bitch that she is.

Chizik is a great person, he obviously did something right in the 2010 season that got us a natl championship. Being a great coach is responding to the next years to come, unfortunately he has failed in that column. That said we need a big time coach to come in and turn this program around. charlie strong, jimbo fisher, or bobby petrino are my guesses.

Auburn is the armpit and hemorrhoid-pus of the world……..after their behaviour over there two years ago I’d try an on-side kick if there were 30 seconds left and I was winning 56-0. Then I would make an honest attempt to score. Hate to take it out on the kids, but Auburn has it coming. Some teams pull for other SEC teams in other games…..not even SEC fans overall like Auburn…..

Just don’t know what credibility Petrino has left. Maybe he can take over for Kiffin.. seems ethics in a football coach isn’t a requirement there.

Hey old dog how does it feel to have lost to armpit auburn 54 times? You do realize uga has needed this current streak they are on to pull even with auburn right? Auburn has more tradition on one street corner than uga has in their entire existence. We don’t copy other traditions like that stupid dawg walk you ripped off from us. We are creative enough to come up with our own logo not steal a G from green bay. Goog grief do you guys even have a fight song? Ponder those things while I wait for you to name another team in the NCAA besides auburn that has gone undefeated three times in the past 20 years.

The ‘Dawg Walk’ is something Richt brought with him from FSU – but then again why muddy this up with the truth. Good grief can you guys even pick a mascot? GO PLAINSMEN!!!! Trooper Taylor is a punk. He recruits the cities well, because he is punk himself. He put and Chizik put up with Fairley’s garbage and allowed him to not only take dirty shots on Murray, but other SEC quarterbacks. If you aren’t happy with the amount of players acting up for Georgia now, you sure wouldn’t want Trooper.

I’d lash out, too, if my team was as terrible as yours this year. However, you did give the world Barkley (one of my favorite NBA palyers of all time) and Bo, the greatest overall athlete to play sports, period! So, I’ll give you credit where it is due.
