Former Braves pitcher Pascual Perez was killed in an armed robbery at his residence in the Dominican Republic, a Dominican news website reported.
Perez, who earned the nickname “Perimeter Perez” when he got lost on I-285 en route to a Braves game in 1982, was reportedly stabbed in the neck, according to the Dominican Today website.
Perez, 55, played with the Braves for four seasons, from 1982-85. He pitched a total of 11 years in the Major Leagues, with Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Montreal and the New York Yankees.

This is sad news. He was the main guy involved in that brawl with the Padres back in the 80’s.

Lasorda once called him out for wearing a shiny gold necklace which ‘distracted’ the Dodger batters. Ump made him remove it. Great memories of him.

Will never forget Perez hiding behind Bob Horner in the Padres brawl. Horner had a broke wrist and Perez was in the dugout behind him shaking his bat at Craig Nettles (I think that’s who it was).

Got to watch a great pitchers duel between Perez and Fenando in the early 80’s. Both pitched a great game with the Braves losing 1-0 on a Dusty Baker homerun. It was one of my earliest Braves moments. This is sad news for Brave’s fans everywhere.

Pasqual Perez was supposed to be the Braves’ starting pitcher the night he got lost on I-285, but showed up in the dugout in the middle innings with the story of his adventure. The comic relief helped snapped a 19 of 21 game losing streak that night. Braves trivia here — who started the game in Perez’s absence?
