Home of UGA QB Murray, linebacker ‘egged and rolled’

A house shared by Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray and senior linebacker Christian Robinson was “egged and rolled” Saturday, Robinson said on his Twitter account.

According to an Associated Press story, Robinson believes the vandalism was a result of the Bulldogs’ 35-7 loss to South Carolina Saturday night. “Seems that people turn on you when you’re not perfect,” Robinson said on his Twitter account. “Thought we were in this together.”

Here’s more from the AP story:

Georgia coach Mark Richt said he hadn’t heard of the players’ home being hit with eggs and littered with toilet paper until he was asked about the incident on his weekly teleconference Sunday afternoon.

“Sometimes that comes with the territory,” he said. “You’re a public figure and people get upset about things. It’s sad something like that would happen but it’s not shocking people get criticism or something like that happened to them when they’re in the type position those guys are in, especially the quarterback position.”

Richt said every quarterback he has coached since he was an assistant coach at Florida State has had to have unlisted telephone numbers “because you know there’s going to be somebody to call and say something foolish after the emotion of a game. Unfortunately, it’s part of it.”

Six hours after tweeting about the ugly scene at his home, Robinson followed with another post that seemed to follow Richt’s advice.

“Still get to be a hero this morning to little kids at Athens Church,” Robinson tweeted. “There are more important things in life than wins and losses.”

While I was disappointed in the loss, there is no reason for someone to do something like that. That is totally classless. Reminds me of the debacle at Turner field Friday night. Embarassing. Robinson got it right. It is just a game and there are far more important things in life!

Hate to see this for the players, there is no reason for this type of behavior. Fairweater fans to say the least.

Unbelievable. No reason to egg and roll a house… Once again the team has a terrible game plan and comes out FLAT in a big game. On the other hand, I was glad to see fans litter the field at Turner(I was there, but not throwing debris). Atleast, the talking heads in the media can finally say we actually are passionate about a sports team. Ha!

I think this is another result of no accountability and leadership of head coach Mark Richt. He constantly blames his players for his own lack of ability to have his team ready to play and play calling and game planning. If he had the guts to stand up after the horrible game against USC and say this loss is on him for not having his team ready and making poor decisions during the game than this may not happen. People it is the coaches fault for the poor game on Saturday night not the players! I agree egging Murray and Robinsons house is completely horrible, but this is just another reminder that McGarity needs to step in and make some decisions regarding the coaches started from the top. If CMR contines to be allowed to make poor decisions and not have his team prepared to play, unfortunately these stupid things may continue. I hope not, but the fans have had enough!

His response is again typical CMR, “this just goes with the territory” Really!!! I doubt it very much!! You would think he would be angry about this! again no emotion or leadership! He does not act like he really cares.

UGA dropped the ball when Evans went out as AD. With MR’s knowledge of college sports, his recruiting ability and his strong code of ethics, he would be a great AD. That would have been a great time to move MR to the AD spot and open up the Dawgs head coach job to someone with killer instinct that will play ALL his players and not just his selected few favorites. I keep hoping we’ll stumble up on another Bear Bryant like Alabama did.

What is embarrassing are the Georgia Fans reaction to this game. One, we were overrated from the start of the season. Two, Ole Ball Coach will always have our number. Three, we are not a top tier program, we are a very good middle tier program. Four, we have a very good team this year, we need to support and get behind them. The world will not end on last Sat game. And finally for God Sake leave the freaking players houses alone. Those are somebody sons. How you like it to happen to you child. Could it not have been SC fans, Tech fans, or Flordia fans? #2 Richt and his staff are 100% responsible for this loss for not having the team ready. They are PAID and guys like Murray and Robinson are not. If you are angry about the game like I am, let McGarity know that a 2-15 record against ranked teams since 2008 is unacceptable and it is time for a change in Athens.

It is totally unacceptable to damage someone elses property. Murray and Robinson did not lose the game. I knew SC was a better team. It should of been a closer game. CMR was not prepared as usual. That does not mean to go egg and roll someone’s house. Last week, all the fans were patting them on the back. WTH? Our OL are young. Our defense is way overrated. Did anyone think we were really going to win a NC this season. We are a 6-4 team. Anything better than that is a GIFT. SC DL is not overrated. SC has a real Hershall Walder comparison with the OL to blocl for him. Our OL is pieced together.

While I was as sick as any dawg fan watching that debacle on Sat night, there is no excuse for this. I am more embarassed by this act of vandalism than by our gameplan and execution on Sat night. It isn’t too far fetched to see how we could win out if we avoid any more “flat” games like Sat night. Carolina is good, they always view our game as one of if not their biggest game of the year, and they played with an intensity that we came no where near matching. However, they could lose their next 2 games (at LSU, at UF). The boorish behavior of fans these days blows my mind.
I also think back to 1980. Even though I was glad we won the MNC, the best “team” in the country was probably Pittsburgh. They went to Fla State and laid and egg early in the year and lost by a couple of TD’s to a 3 loss (I believe) FSU team. It was their only loss. Even though it’s just a few out of thousands, do we really wonder why Dawg fans are ridiculed so bad. I’m just as dissappointed as the next Alumnus, trust me, but to take action like this is so redneck and in reading some of the comments by so-called dawg fans on these blogs I now get why people say the UGA has an awful fan base.
I have been a Richt supporter and still am. Maybe, not so much as an HC getting us over the hump of winning the big games, but ths man does a lot for the players on the team. What he brings them is much more than being a great HC. At saying that, UGA football program is at a crossroad and probably needs to look in another direction for their HC.
Here’s a thought – What if, some way some how, Dawgs do the same to UF (keep in mind I’m not saying they will) but what if they put a game together like SC did against us? Would we still feel the same about a new HC? I’m torn.

For all of you people wanting Richt fired (and I’m not defending him) who do you think would take the job? If we win out, win a bowl game and possibly wind up with 11 or 12 wins, then fire him, who would take the job under those circumstances? Richt needs to take back over the playcalling. Grantham needs to start putting the kids that give the best effort on the field. Where has C Wash been all year? Rambo is costing himself a lot of money with his off and on field performances. Shawn Williams has looked lost in coverage. It seems from the outside looking in that we have too many players (especially on D) worried about their draft status and not about what is going on around them right now.

I was fortunate to play for John Mckissick at Summerville high school in South Carolina. I learned quite a few lessons from him about the game of football and life lessons that follow after the game. Hold your head high after a defeat and be a man in winning. Apparently who ever egged the house was not raised right and does not understand this was a game and game only, life will go on until the next game. I am 61 years old now and still cherish my time with my head coach in regards to winning and losing and being a good sport, not demonstrating childish behavior in messing someone’s house up with toilet paper and eggs.

I was also disppointed in the actions of the crowd at Turner Field Friday. I think I was more disappointed in them than I was the loss by the Braves. I’ve been a Braves fan for over 20 years and I just never would have expected anything like that from the fans. They and the players have always been above reacting in that way. I was hoping Chipper would come out on the field at some point and chastise the fans for losing control like that, but I guess he’s a much bigger person than they are. Sure will miss Chipper!

Failure is not losing a game, it is what you learn from it and how you bounce back after a bad loss that will make a difference. The part that matters is how you are at the end of the season. There is no excuse for people to do this to player, coach whoever’s home. NONE! On the same note, I think this shows just how fragile the UGA fan base is in regards to supporting this group of coaches. Truth be told, I know we like to crow about winning 10 in a row…etc etc….but the fact remains- who have we beat??? We have betaen the teams we should be beating but we are not beating good/great teams. People are frustrated when we see our team come out like they did on Sat- you NEVER see that from a Nick Saben team or a Steve S. team. Fact- we are just not at that level. Murray can watch all the film in the world but his poor judgement and mistakes cost us dearly when we play great teams- the record does not lie. When the head coach tells a player (our number 2 QB) that he will red shirt unless Murray is injured is crazy- perhaps he could have gone in and turned things around Sat?? one never knows- its been done before with a back up. Maybe Murray knowing there are no footsteps behind him lets him know there are no consequences for errors. Blame the line…blame the receiver….I was disgusted on Sat. Things have not changed.

Way back, before Atlanta and the surrounding area got castrated by the invading hoards of Yankees, we had a different mindset and mediocrity at UGA head coach position was not tolerated, now it seems preferred to have a psychoanalyst and group therapy leader in the position…Why don’t you guys visit Richt’s, Suga BOBO and AD’s house and leave the uncoached players alone?

UGA as a team, average for an SEC team. Not great.

Murray above average, carries the team as far as he can until they play a good team. But he doesn’t play on defense, your defense is lousy for an SEC defense. He doesn’t control that. He can’t control Tennessee running the ball 6 times in a row for positive yardage to score a TD.

What you guys did to Murray is a disgrace. He’s a kid. He’s the best thing you’ve got. If he was on just about any other team in the SEC he’d be beating good teams, not just bad teams.

A couple of people egging a house does not speak poorly of anyone except the people that did it. However, it does seem representative of the level of frustration I hear from UGA fans.

The coaching staff is to blame for this one. I’ve been on their side many times before, but there was no passion from Richt. They really could have turned this one around in the second half, but they didn’t leave it all on the field.

I’m glad Robinson gets to be a hero — what do the fans get? Another miserable beating.

UGA can still win the East, and I think they are likely to win the rest of their games, but with an attitude like the one Robinson has, we won’t beat Florida.

It is not the loss, it is the over promising every year. Maybe you stop using the local press as your PR machine, be realistic about your prospects and you house doesn’t get egged. I wonder if Washington, at Tech, had his phone number changed or his house egged. This guy Robinson who responded is probably the collateral damage, rooming with the “number one quarterback” in the SEC. And Robinson is the one letting everybody knows everything is OK.

I seriously wonder if the sorry public school systems of Georgia have tainted these kids both at Georgia and Tech, into uncoachable personalities. We are having the same problems on defense you guys are having. Our basketball teams under Hewitt were every bit as bad, and I notice unlike Cremins, with Hewitt a lot of those kids came out of Georgia.

I saw against Middle Tenn. a Tech defense that total laid down, refused to tackle, didn’t care. I saw the same thing with Georgia after South Carolina hit them in the mouth. These kids play defense for a reason and usually it is not IQ. I think like with Cam Newton on national television against the Giants these Georgia kids are pouters when the things get rough, they, I mean all the state of Georgia kids, lack character. The only thing that keeps them from pouting is competition, fear of losing their job. But I am telling you the problem is universal in this state, and anyone who has sat on a sideline in a high school game and heard the language will have to agree the discipline problem starts there. Limited scholarships has enhanced it, job security, Bear Bryant could coach these thugs.

Crazy white guys and old white men unless it is Smart who built a program from a puppy, can’t just come in and coach anymore, they can’t communicate. Well—————you guys know the answer———Its ACC football at UGA and it will not change until Richt turns 90 years old or the next flood comes———its like I said before—-all that passing only works if you have Joe Namath and some really great receivers—but even then you have to be able to run the ball in a positive manner——–Georgia needs a new life—I do not know what that is————but they have lost to South Caroling 3 years in a row and they rarely beat Florida at all——————face it folks—there is a lot of dreaming and hipe at UGA but not a lot of national championships—-i mean hardly any to speak of—–next year it will be the same thing all over again————a lot of hipe and BS and no cigar—I think I am on to their sales pitches.

1- I read a few replies that blamed our running backs . Marshall and Gurley did a great job . Spurrier said that the ENTIRE defensive concentration was to stop the run, which he did. Malcome did a good job because South Carolina had a lot of reserves in the game late .
2- Bobo and Richt had a pretty good game plan in place, it wasn’t their fault.
3-Murray said he averaged 1 hours sleep for the previous 2 days. He was exhausted and that is why he was 10 for 31 passing.
4- Shawn Williams missed some assignments that cost us dearly.

Bottom line is the reason Georgia has been so successful is because they have had a balanced offense. When South Carolina shut down the run game because they keep everybody ready for the run, Murray had to be perfect throwing the ball which he was far from it. Georgia has way too good of a team not to end up 11-1 or 10-2. I don’t think Murray has the ability to lead us past Florida because of his anxiety problems. and not being able to control his emotions but I think we have a good enough team to win the rest because Murray’s confidence will not be in doubt. Sometime you have to accept reality and the reality is Georgia will end up around 10th best team in the nation and that is okay by me. Be thankful that we are not Auburn or Georgia Tech.

RE: Georgia State Dawg

:-)

North Carolinians feel the same way about USC fans. Trashy and classless. That is why they love Spurrier. Still, he was a better coach in this game. It seemed to me that the UGA team didn’t even have a coach during the game.

I agree this was a cowardly, and totally deplorable act. However, it cannot be overlooked that Georgia fans have been once again duped by a QB who cannot win the big games & team which showed no heart. Those who say CMR shouldn’t be fired are kidding themselves. It is OBVIOUS the team was NOT ready to play Saturday, and that’s coaching, my fellow Dawg fans. I couldn’t find one part of the game that was in any way redeeming. It was a total team collapse, and there is no one other than the entire coaching staff to blame. If people are satisfied winning 9-10 games a season, then by all means keep CMR. I am NOT one of those people. The time has come for a change; maybe overdue.

This guy Christian Robinson is unbelievable. He’s the wierdo IN THE ROOM filming Murray in bed with some girl down at Panama City during Spring Break. If that’s not enough, with Murray’s consent (not the girl’s), the two creeps POST IT ON FACE BOOK! Now this guy is talking about helping kids at some church!? Not my kids.Hopefully it was the girl they took advantage of that rolled their house. What a joke of a program. It’s like a competition to see who’s MORE SUPERFICIAL. Is it Richt, Murray or Robinson? Gay Dog may be on to something. Maybe it was a hate crime. With Richt and Murray it’s kind of like watching the men’s floor exercises at the Olympics. You watch the participants, and you sort of get an ambiguous feeling, you know? It’s the same with Richt and Murray. Richt with his tinted hair and spray-on tan. And from Boca of all places, Murray with a little too much shoulder swish when he runs, And losing sleep like on nervous bride, worrying about Clowney. I don’t know. what do you think Dawg fans? Was Gay Dawg right? Was it a hate crime? If so. is Richt’s house and lawn next? Bobo’s probably safe, but this guy Friend, with those glasses of his… you can’t help but wonder. tide roll: is Georgia’s program really a joke? Wasn’t it a “claasy” Alabama fan that threw a BRICK through Bill Curry’s office window after Ole Miss beat them on homecoming in ‘89? Yeah, some of us still remember that. In my lifetime (I’m 54) Georgia has had a total of 5 head coaches (Wally Butts, Vince Dooley, Ray Goff, Jim donnan & Mark Richt). In the last 30 years Alabama has had 9 (Bear, Ray Perkins, Bill Curry, Gene Stallings, Mike Dubose, Dennis Francione, Mike Price, Mike Shula & Nick Saban). People who live in glass houses, shouldn’t throw bricks…….

Richt wins almost 75% of his games and he’s a bum. Dooley won 72%. Go figure. I guess Georgia fans forget about the TWO DECADES without an SEC title before Richt finally got it done (twice). Not that Richt doesn’t have his limitations, but you don’t win 3/4 of your games while coaching in the SEC by accident. So if you blow out Richt, start rehearsing your story about why a successful coach should leave his current job to come to Athens, play FL, USC, UT, Aubie, etc. knowing that the last guy was canned for winning “only” 75% of his games. Let me know how that works out for you.

Mike Bobo was horrible as a player why do we have him as an OC, He and Murray should both have been callin audibles at the SC defense. If 9 men are in the box comin at you why are you still gonna go with a run play? Stupidity. Murray is not a great college quarterback he shined a little his freshmen year but these past two years have been mildly mediocre and he has horrible qb awareness. Our RB stable saved us against UT, while Murray threw a pick and fumbled at the goal line. He is no where near the quarterback caliber of Stafford or Green, the only reason he is coming up on td records is because ga went from a run heavy offense to a pass heavy offense with Murray throwing 70% and runnin 30%. Mark Richt is to blame but so are the alumni that told Richt to calm his side antics down, ie blackouts and rushing the endzone against other teams. Give Mark the reins back and u will see a different football team. Fire Bobo and u will definitely see a different team.

Jeff – Auburn has had three undefeated seasons since our last one. That being said Auburn and Alabama are intolerant of homosexuals and probably put winning above gay rights. There were several of those old guys doing that.

Georgia Girl / NC: I agree, it was a hard loss, and Georgia fans are taking it hard. Perhaps IF it had not been a total BLOWOUT & DOMINATION, and Georgia had actually been in the game at some point, this loss wouldn’t be such a bitter pill to swallow (not to mention the fact Spurrier was on the opposite sideline). It has always been my belief these kids come to Georgia for the opportunity to play in games of this magnitude. That said, why is it our guys seem to be lost every time a game like this one comes along? We used to have faith in the coaching staff that our guys would be well prepared, and be up to any challenge. All I saw Saturday night was a team which was unprepared, outplayed & outcoached. This can only be attributed to one thing-COACHING!!!!!

It appears that UGA fans and Braves fans are one and the same. Between the two, their lack of sportsmamship this past weekend was absolutely pathetic. The two teams lost a game. So what. Losing games happens. Why be such a loser of a fan base that you go out and commit a crime. What purpose did that serve, except to show that UGA fans are basically redneck idiots.(Not all, but that is the perception)
Braves fans were even worse. So the call might have been a bad one. So what? It had no direct bearing on the game. What had more bearing was the poor play of the team, especially the worst player on the field, Larry Wayne “Chipper” Jones, who stunk up his final game with an o-fer at the plate(He was given the hit in the 9th. He was out by 3 steps), and made the critical error in the game. Where were the bottles then? It is just a game. Egging houses is so redneck. You can do better.

I rememember that too. Also the tree incident, but, since I am not an Alabama fan, nor do I live in the state of Alabama, I did not mention these things. My concern is with the state of Georgia, and the absolutely embarrassing light cast upon sports fans of teams in this state over the weekend. Throwing bottles and cans and causing a game to be delayed was not only embarrassing, but was also idiotic, uncalled for and shows the bush league mentality of sports fans in this state.
Egging players homes just because they played really bad in a big game is just as embarrassing, bush league, and although not representative of all UGA fans, it puts a negative spin on their fan base. Teams lose big games all the time, but to have such childish and possibly harmful and criminal behavior just because of a possible bad call or the lose of a big game tells me that the fan base of these teams is juvenile and bordering on ignorance.
