Home of UGA QB Murray, linebacker ‘egged and rolled’

A house shared by Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray and senior linebacker Christian Robinson was “egged and rolled” Saturday, Robinson said on his Twitter account.

According to an Associated Press story, Robinson believes the vandalism was a result of the Bulldogs’ 35-7 loss to South Carolina Saturday night. “Seems that people turn on you when you’re not perfect,” Robinson said on his Twitter account. “Thought we were in this together.”

Here’s more from the AP story:

Georgia coach Mark Richt said he hadn’t heard of the players’ home being hit with eggs and littered with toilet paper until he was asked about the incident on his weekly teleconference Sunday afternoon.

“Sometimes that comes with the territory,” he said. “You’re a public figure and people get upset about things. It’s sad something like that would happen but it’s not shocking people get criticism or something like that happened to them when they’re in the type position those guys are in, especially the quarterback position.”

Richt said every quarterback he has coached since he was an assistant coach at Florida State has had to have unlisted telephone numbers “because you know there’s going to be somebody to call and say something foolish after the emotion of a game. Unfortunately, it’s part of it.”

Six hours after tweeting about the ugly scene at his home, Robinson followed with another post that seemed to follow Richt’s advice.

“Still get to be a hero this morning to little kids at Athens Church,” Robinson tweeted. “There are more important things in life than wins and losses.”

So if there are so many more important things in life than this Mr. Robinson, why tweet it to the world?

Are you looking for sympathy? Do you realize that by tweeting this you are rubbing more salt in the wound of the most embarrasing defeat for the program in 20 years?

This is all par for the course for those who subscribe to the L.A.M.E. society….

A couple of people egging a house does not speak poorly of anyone except the people that did it. However, it does seem representative of the level of frustration I hear from UGA fans.

The coaching staff is to blame for this one. I’ve been on their side many times before, but there was no passion from Richt. They really could have turned this one around in the second half, but they didn’t leave it all on the field.

I’m glad Robinson gets to be a hero — what do the fans get? Another miserable beating.

UGA can still win the East, and I think they are likely to win the rest of their games, but with an attitude like the one Robinson has, we won’t beat Florida.

It is not the loss, it is the over promising every year. Maybe you stop using the local press as your PR machine, be realistic about your prospects and you house doesn’t get egged. I wonder if Washington, at Tech, had his phone number changed or his house egged. This guy Robinson who responded is probably the collateral damage, rooming with the “number one quarterback” in the SEC. And Robinson is the one letting everybody knows everything is OK.

I was thinking at the Braves game the other night when people were throwing trash and acting like they were from Philly, if they could collect that trash and find some fingerprints on it. Bet those eggs shell have the same stuff.

The action while uncalled for and showing no class, Mark Richt’s comment “Sometimes that comes with the territory,” is even more unsettling for me. Coach stand up like a man and say the people that did this is wrong.

Rollup we are so use to being furious. If eggs and toilet paper made us feel any better we would have egged and rolls the whole state of Georgia by now. We have the solos of knowing we are playing the best we can play, our games are close, you guys have the material to have a banquet, but you have McDonald grill men coaching it. It is when you can do so much better than what you doing and people think you need a wake up call that you wake up with eggs and toilet paper. Be glad you aren’t Auburn waking up to tree killers. Those eggs wash off.

I seriously wonder if the sorry public school systems of Georgia have tainted these kids both at Georgia and Tech, into uncoachable personalities. We are having the same problems on defense you guys are having. Our basketball teams under Hewitt were every bit as bad, and I notice unlike Cremins, with Hewitt a lot of those kids came out of Georgia.

I saw against Middle Tenn. a Tech defense that total laid down, refused to tackle, didn’t care. I saw the same thing with Georgia after South Carolina hit them in the mouth. These kids play defense for a reason and usually it is not IQ. I think like with Cam Newton on national television against the Giants these Georgia kids are pouters when the things get rough, they, I mean all the state of Georgia kids, lack character. The only thing that keeps them from pouting is competition, fear of losing their job. But I am telling you the problem is universal in this state, and anyone who has sat on a sideline in a high school game and heard the language will have to agree the discipline problem starts there. Limited scholarships has enhanced it, job security, Bear Bryant could coach these thugs.

Georgia never had that many problems under Dooley———so what is the deal man.

Notice who coaches Spurrier defenses. Before this last guy it was Strong. Crazy white guys and old white men unless it is Smart who built a program from a puppy, can’t just come in and coach anymore, they can’t communicate. Muschamp said he got a little over the top with Florida the first year and had to calm himself down, he promised the players he would cut the crap out if they started concentrating too. Georgia needs some of the concentration, not space cadet stuff but real focus.

Have to agree with LAME – no need for Robinson’s tweet.
A lot of unnecessary drama – but that’s no surprise here.
Nothing good comes out of it – he’s now embarrassed the entire school for the acts of a few coward, drunk college kids.
Need to focus on keeping your teammates’ heads and hearts in the game and not the fan’s. What’s the difference between rolling a house and hitting QB late out-of-bounds? I guess someone could actually be injured in the latter.
