The Greater Gwinnett Championship will be held at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth next April 15-21, 2013. The course will host the tournament through 2016. The event will be part of the Champions Tour, formerly the Senior PGA Tour.
The Gwinnett Sports Commission, the host entity for the tournament, will operate the 54-hole stroke-play tournament with 81 Champions Tour professionals competing for the $1.8 million purse.
More to come.

It will be interesting to see the strength of the field that will compete in this event. And, if Atlanta will support this tournament will it being so close to the Masters and PGA FEDEX at East Lake.
The Champions tour has been very friendly to spectators and the community in the past. I’ve been to several of their events over the years and truly enjoyed each one of them.
Too bad the LPGA has not been able to find sponsorship in this area.
Fairways and greens!!

Great news!!! The old pro’s in town again. I still remember the CoC South and GC of Georgia events. Just hope folks will get out and support them. Although pretty rainy weather that time of year if I remember correctly.

As a former volunteer at the 3M Championship Senior Event, I am excited to see the PGA award Atlanta a tour event. The players are some of the best in the world or have been. They generate a lot of excited and are great ambassadors for the game of golf. Good move Atlanta and PGA for getting a tour stop!

Amazing that it has been 6 years since they played the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship in Stockbridge. Alabama has 2 LPGA tour events……………I used to enjoy the tournament in Stockbridge, these guys are good!!

As we learned during the PGA’s former annual stops at Sugarloaf, it’s a lousy course, especially for spectators.

Great to have the Champions Tour back in Georgia. But Sugarloaf is the toughest course for spectators to walk. You will need to workout before trying to walk that course.
