Mom: Football league discriminates against 297-pound son

Herschel Walker’s mom once told Lewis Grizzard that she was not keen on her son playing football for fear of injury — to other players.

That’s not a concern for a Texas mother, who insists her nearly 300-pound son should be able to play peewee football against kids one-third his size.

According to the Associated Press, Mesquite Pee Wee Football Association President Ronnie Henderson said 12-year-old Elijah Earnheart is not eligible because at 6-foot-1 and 297 pounds, he exceeds the league’s weight limit for seventh-graders — by more than 160 pounds.

Cindy Earnheart, the boy’s mother, was furious.

“They would not even let him weigh in on the scales like every single boy out there,” she said. “He might be the size of a grown man but he’s 12 years old and he has feelings, too.”

Would you let your 12-year-old play football against a 297-pound child?

She said her son was a victim of discrimination (sizeism?).

“No one is telling boys who are too thin or too small that they can’t play football,” she said. “Why tell my kid he’s too big?

“Isn’t bigger better in football? Football is a contact sport. If you don’t want your son tackled, get him off the field.”

Henderson defended his decision.

“We’ve got little boys that play against him that are 85, 95 and 100 pounds,” Henderson said. “We have to look out for all the kids, not just him.”

Elijah could play for his middle school team, but since he hasn’t played much football he was hoping to gain experience against the little guys.

Cindy Earnhart told local TV station KTBC that she’s not about to give up.

“This is what he wants to do and I’m going to make it happen,” she said.

Move him up to a league with kids closer to his weight, Like the 15 year old kids———- he will have a size advantage still but the older kids will have a more mature football intellect which would level the playing field.
I am from an old school and when I played football in little leagues that was how it was done and that works for the overweight and underweight size players.

I am fed up with people that are sitting on their fat as*es chowing down on twinkies and every other junk food out there. Look at that woman……why is any 12 year old boy that big? That clearly is a form of abuse or neglect. His heath is in danger because of her. She is the parent / role model. This sense of entitlement she has is complete bllusiht. She should be in jail. She is not a fit parent.

I feel pretty bad for this kid. Despite weighing almost 300 lbs (which, for someone already over 6′ tall, isn’t obese by any means) he’s still just a 12-year-old boy.
———————————————————————————-

@MARA……do research before you post. You just look stupid saying the child isn’t overweight.

BMI Calculator
Your Body Mass Index Results

A 12 year old (male) child
who is 297 pounds
and is 6 feet and 1 inches tall has
a body mass index of 39.3,
which is over the 95th percentile,

and would indicate that your child is overweight.

I would let the boy play football, and tell the ones that are to small that they can’t play. This boy is the one that needs football experience, not some 75 lb kids that will be playing baseball in 2 years.

I didn’t see Obama mentioned anywhere in the article but it is all his fault. What a joke. Your boy George W. The cokehead bush put us in this position. Not to mention ask any educator how no child left behind is going. Teaching to tests rather than teaching material. Oh and cops now can do as they please with the patriot act (dumb republicans voted for it just because not doing it would have been unpatriotic. Lol). What are you going to say if Romney wins? You can’t say that dumb muslim anymore huh? I guess you will have to call him the stormin mormon. I for one hope whomever the president is they do a great job. A little cooperation from both parties is necessary and should not be to hard to ask for. But oh yeah I do not think the kid should be able to play either.

Sorry the kid got stuck with her as a mother……….she is probably to blame for why he is so obese at only 12 years old. With a decent diet he would be ole 200 pound 12 year old instead of just a plain fat 297 pound 12 year old.

This mother is worried about the wrong things. She should be worried more about her child’s HEALTH. Take him to a doctor, and get him on a strict diet. If she doesn’t, she is going to lose him to heart trouble, high blood pressure and/or diabetes before he’s 40! If that child played football, and he died on the field, who is going to be responsible for that? His health is more important than a pee-wee football game, or worrying about being picked on.

She says if we don’t want our kids getting tackled, then take them off the field. HOW STUPID. There are RULES…and one is a weight restriction. Like every other liberal in the world, they don’t think they have to follow rules, and that they are entitled to whatever it is their little heart desires.
