LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu dismissed from team

LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has been dismissed from the team, head coach Les Miles announced Friday.

Miles said Mathieu, a.ka. “The Honey Badger” was dismissed for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Miles said the violation was a school and team violation.

Miles said Mathieu was not yet eligible to turn pro, but he believed Mathieu “still has a bright future.”

Miles said it was a “longstanding rule” that Mathieu violated.

LSU enters the season with a preseason No. 1 ranking, but the loss of Mathieu removes one of the Tigers’ top playmakers, both on defense and special teams, where he was one of the top kick returners in the nation.

“It’s difficult at best,” said Miles, who called Mathieu “a quality, quality guy who had behavior issues.”

Matthieu was suspended for last season’s Auburn game for reportedly violating the team’s drug policy.

Mathieu becomes the third high-profile player to be dismissed from a Top 10 team in less than two months, joining Georgia’s Isaiah Crowell and Florida State’s Greg Reid.

@ GA Tiger:

Go back and check carefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never said IC was better than HB. I simply referred to the FACT that IC was VOTED SEC Freshman of the year while, as YOU pointed out that HB was a MERE Also ran!!!!!!!!!!!

IC was the Top Rated RB in the nation as a HS senior. I didn’t vote for him or rate him. Did you??? I believe HB was not rated by the so-called X-perts but thats the way it works. ANY Player that wins those type honors/accolades are just the ones receiving the most votes therefore if your suggestion that HB was “in the running for Heisman” is of more significance than a player rated best HSRB in the country and
voted Freshman of the year by the voters(who actually may not be as qualified as you or me) it would indicate that IC(One of the Allime Dumba$$es) who WON TWO GREAT HONORS while HB won ZERO great honors means that lots of people don’t agree with your feelings about HB> Perssonally I don’t know but playing by your rules an also-ran is NOT better than a TWO HONORs winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously I’m just playing and rattling your cage. That’s what I do!!!!!!!!!!!I hope UGA meets LSU again in Atlanta but with different results!!!!!!

Have a nice day!!!!!!!!

Pay attention. It will help you through life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The SEC has gotten to be the arm pit of the NCAA.They invest in kids that should be in jail and have no care for education or a top class program.Talk to any UGA fan when they do good they are proud
besides that kickem to the street and bring another one in.

I guess the beer is flowing to good in Ga. First of all the reason Mett was kicked off was because his mother works at uga and still does and if he didn’t kick him off the race card would have come out and the team would have shut down on him. Second the new AD is calling the shots now not cmr, thats why people are getting kick off because look back at all the thugs cmr let stay on the team. I would list them but there is not enough space. There are still players on the team that has done things worse than Mett but they are still there. CMR is about as soft as they come . Roll tide

I’m gonna miss the badger.
The guy was hands down the National Defensive POY last season.
For all the recruiting-heads, Mathieu was an after-thought when he signed with LSU.
Goes to show, those stars beside the Players name mean nothing!!

OK, Brainiac, let’s get past this.realize you were jut playing with the name calling, as I was. I never said Mathieu was better than anyone. I was merely stating my opinion that dismissing such a high profile player such as he is, a Heisman finalist, the only defensive candidate,a first team SEC player and a candidate for this year’s Heisman is a tougher decision than dismissing Crowell. That’s my opinion. You disagree.

I have a vested interest in UGA’s success because I have a daughter there, and, as the saying goes, blood’s thicker… But on Saturdays my blood runs purple and gold. The Tigers will be fine without Mathieu. We are a bit thin in the DB ranks this year and some freshmen will have to step up. But our freshmen had to step up just two years ago when Mathieu, Reid, Simon and Claiborne were all freshmen. Chavis is one of the best in the business and with the returning talent on that side of the ball I expect he’ll scheme around this problem.

HB won the Bednarik award. That is the award that goes to College Football’s best defensive player so even though he didn’t win the Heisman I would consider this in the top 3 awards nationally.

I don’t know why the chronic is illegal. My uncle smoked it and he was so cool. He would come over and eat up all our food. My mom would pull out the butcher knife and chase him out the kitchen. Man that was funny. Anyhow will LSU be number one without the Honey Badger. He was a playmaker no doubt. Jerry Jones folks already gettin him into a small school. He goes in the first round.

Good to see that UGA has not cornered the market on dope-smoking thug football players. Richt will let one slip thru the cracks every now and then. Don’t worry redneck Dawg fans….more arrests are coming down the road. Clarke County jail should put a practice field behind the jail for all the UGA players spending time there. UGAg will be lucky to get 6 wins this year….LUCKY.
