LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu dismissed from team
LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has been dismissed from the team, head coach Les Miles announced Friday.
Miles said Mathieu, a.ka. “The Honey Badger” was dismissed for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Miles said the violation was a school and team violation.
Miles said Mathieu was not yet eligible to turn pro, but he believed Mathieu “still has a bright future.”
Miles said it was a “longstanding rule” that Mathieu violated.
LSU enters the season with a preseason No. 1 ranking, but the loss of Mathieu removes one of the Tigers’ top playmakers, both on defense and special teams, where he was one of the top kick returners in the nation.
“It’s difficult at best,” said Miles, who called Mathieu “a quality, quality guy who had behavior issues.”
Matthieu was suspended for last season’s Auburn game for reportedly violating the team’s drug policy.
Mathieu becomes the third high-profile player to be dismissed from a Top 10 team in less than two months, joining Georgia’s Isaiah Crowell and Florida State’s Greg Reid.

Greg Reid was spotted at Valdosta State University football practice. According to the coach, he has a spot open if he so chooses. Not sure where Tyrann could land, would be nice to have two lock down corners here on a team projected to win their conference and nationally ranked. Here’s to dreamin!

Personally…..I get down every time a player gets suspended or kicked off any team. I felt bad for Leonard at Florida, Crowell at Georiga….and now Honeybadger at LSU…..because we will all not be able to watch their exceptional football talents in the SEC. Those gloating and comparing just don’t get it. THIS NEWS MAKES IT A SAD DAY FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL….and I wish the Honeybadgers of the world would start to get the gift and opportunity that has been naturally given to them….but they probaby will not…..

For all you Saint Richt lovers out there – remember, it wasn’t until AFTER the Florida game that it suddenly “appeared” that some of the key starters for UGA failed a drug test the week of the Florida game (smokin and tokin) – that way St. Richt could have those players playing and then bench them for that pansy team (3-10 New Mexico State) they played the next week.

To ‘Whatever’ Yes, those players did test positive for drugs prior to the Florida game, but just like in a corporate drug testing program, even if you test positive initially, your urine is sent off to a lab for further test which can last as long as three days. I had a worker of mine test positive for drugs on a Monday, sent off to labwork and didn’t find out until Thursday afternoon, so the worker wasn’t fired until Friday. Just because there was a time delay wasn’t because they were playing UF, I suspect the coaches, staff, and University were following protocol.

UGA might VERY well play them in the SEC championship game. If Bama dont win the west. Losing this guy hurts big time for LSU. Sure he is not the best cover corner, but he was their biggest big play maker. He has a knack for getting the ball away from the receivers. Without him they lost at least 2 games last year. Not to mention his kick returning abilities….

He would still be on UGA’s team. They’d suspend him for the Buffalo game! UGA also tests for banned substances the week before the FL game so the test results come after the game is played so the players get suspended for the New Mexico St game!
