LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu dismissed from team
LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has been dismissed from the team, head coach Les Miles announced Friday.
Miles said Mathieu, a.ka. “The Honey Badger” was dismissed for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Miles said the violation was a school and team violation.
Miles said Mathieu was not yet eligible to turn pro, but he believed Mathieu “still has a bright future.”
Miles said it was a “longstanding rule” that Mathieu violated.
LSU enters the season with a preseason No. 1 ranking, but the loss of Mathieu removes one of the Tigers’ top playmakers, both on defense and special teams, where he was one of the top kick returners in the nation.
“It’s difficult at best,” said Miles, who called Mathieu “a quality, quality guy who had behavior issues.”
Matthieu was suspended for last season’s Auburn game for reportedly violating the team’s drug policy.
Mathieu becomes the third high-profile player to be dismissed from a Top 10 team in less than two months, joining Georgia’s Isaiah Crowell and Florida State’s Greg Reid.

Unlike Greg Reid in the ACC?? It’s a double-edged sword, there! If you recruit them, they mess up, you look bad. You don’t recruit them, you get criticized for not “trying” to compete with the rest of the conference, you look bad.

That’s right, GTBob, the SEC teams will surely one day realize the error of our ways in recruiting, and begin targeting the Reggie Balls of the high schools across the south – outstanding students and brilliant engineers, rocket scientists and such, that the ACC puts on the grid-iron.

I have been to three practice sessions at T-town and I can tell you it will take a very good football team to beat this Alabama team. These kids from Georgie are doing well. Kenyan Drake is a much better football player than his ratings but he will get a redshirt along with Dalvin and Curt. Jeno is going to get some more time and today Travell Dixon turned in his keys and left the Tide (actually yesterday). Dillion is looking good as well and he gets it as Nick says. Greene will redshirt as well unless injury bug comes. This squad has more talent than any (85 man roster) Nick has had at Bama. Dickson will make you proud he’s a Georgiee boy and Adrian Hubbard is going to have a great year. Hope your favorite team has success. Roll tide

Wilson Pickett, I sure hope your boys roll into Red Stick with your attitude. Our defense was predominantly Sophomores, including Mathieu and the guys who were drafted, and we played about 18 on that side of the ball per game. You beat us with Jordan Jefferson at QB and only one experienced WR – congratulations. You were lucky to get into that game, and you should thank Todd Grantham for giving you the blueprint while your team sat at home because they couldn’t win their division. And I would imagine it was tough for our guys to get up for playing the Tide, considering they had already beaten them in their home stadium.
Bama fans make me want to disown the South.

What is it with black athletes and pot? I mean, can these idiots not resist for atleast three years until they can get to the professional level, instead of crushing their dreams and opportunity. This is exactly why America is just getting dumber by the day. Instead of going to class, getting educated, playing some football to support your future, they’re getting high and screwing up everything which will only make them dumber, getting kicked out of school, and not getting educated continuing a circle of undisciplined citizens. I don’t understand why they have to do it to begin with, and I obviously don’t approve of using it ever. I just don’t get it, so maybe if someone else can clarify, I’m all ears.

GATiger…..what you don’t know is Nick Saban and staff baited you guys with Georgie Southern and success with the option! You bought it hook , line, and sinker. Your staff was so confident that you had no other plan and it showed. LSU has a fine football program and will continue. LSU has always been my 2nd favorite team in the SEC. Les success will always depend on him recruiting a QB outside the state of Louisiana.

It may be finally catching on. The alumni do not want trash ruining their school with gal slapping, or drugs or liquor store robberies, like on WSB TV news every night. It shows to go that all the grief some bloggers give UGA and CMR over dismissals and suspensions is misplaced. It happens everywhere, and to the best programs. No, it doesn’t relieve UGA from trying to recruit the best young men that we can. But, no program nor coach is perfect.
