LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu dismissed from team
LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has been dismissed from the team, head coach Les Miles announced Friday.
Miles said Mathieu, a.ka. “The Honey Badger” was dismissed for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Miles said the violation was a school and team violation.
Miles said Mathieu was not yet eligible to turn pro, but he believed Mathieu “still has a bright future.”
Miles said it was a “longstanding rule” that Mathieu violated.
LSU enters the season with a preseason No. 1 ranking, but the loss of Mathieu removes one of the Tigers’ top playmakers, both on defense and special teams, where he was one of the top kick returners in the nation.
“It’s difficult at best,” said Miles, who called Mathieu “a quality, quality guy who had behavior issues.”
Matthieu was suspended for last season’s Auburn game for reportedly violating the team’s drug policy.
Mathieu becomes the third high-profile player to be dismissed from a Top 10 team in less than two months, joining Georgia’s Isaiah Crowell and Florida State’s Greg Reid.

Brian, first of all, what kind of man are you to label Mettenberger a rapist? As for all you Richt worshippers who think he is the only coach with standards, I don’t believe for a moment Richt would banish his best player under the same circumstances.
I feel bad for Mathieu and I feel worse for the team. Everybody liked him. But Miles is a Bo disciple, and if he’s stated it once, he’s done so a thousand times – no one is more important than the team.
Regardless, if we meet again in the SECCG this year, you can count on the same result as last year.

WOW……LSU doesn’t report every violation like UGa but when the LIMIT of screw ups are met(without Police Arrest) LSU kicks them off the team. Does RICHT do that? NO.
Richt don’t kick off Starters after many issues unless the POLICE were involved.

Yeah, Brian, I’m going to have to agree with the LSU grad. Mettenberger is a lot of things, but he is not a rapist, or at least if he is we don’t know about it. Richt did the right thing in kicking him off the team. The groping was completely unacceptable, but let’s not throw the rape word around when it isn’t warranted.
As for Honey Badger, I kind of wish it had happened prior to last year’s SEC Championship Game, but Richt never should have had us kicking to him in the first place. That was just stupid.

To me this is stupid every way u look at it, Jefferson gets a slap on the wrist for bein at a bar AFTER curfue and gettin charged with assault especially a MARINE of all people and doesnt lose anything wen shouldve lost his scholarship bc honestly he sux somethin awful. Tyann gets caught for smoking something LEGAL and gets slammed more harshly than jefferson for breakin both team and school rules with what he did. Personally im not into smoking things but if it was legal at the time y such a big deal??? I highly doubt what he did to b “dismissed” was even serious. Les has gone off the deep end and i honestly dont like him after what he did to Lee and all of LA throwin the championship and shaming us like that

Who exactly do you think our best player is? He kicked off Mettenberger, he kicked off Crowell. Richt doesn’t have a problem kicking players off the team. Miles deserves props for doing the right thing.

not a felony Brian, and UT went to Milligan to avoid disruption while they move in to new f-ball facility. Building team chemistry was noted as a side benefit. And Milligan isn’t abandoned. They dropped their f-ball program in the 50’s, but it’s still an active college. I think everything you cited in your original post was incorrect.

I am a Dawg through and through, but the difference between The Honey Badger and Crowell is that the Badger (whether we like it or not) proved himself on the field. Crowell racked up yards against the lesser competition, patted himself on the head to come out after a decent lick, and SOMEHOW got freshman of the year. He did not do SQUAT against the better teams, and pounded his chest like he conquered the world after a minimal gain on lesser teams. Crowell (and again, I’ve been a Dawg probably longer than most of y’all) couldn’t wave at the washing machine the Badgers j*ck-strap got washed in!
