More trouble for Tennessee QB Bray

Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray is facing more trouble with the law, just two weeks after he admitted damaging cars in the parking lot of his Knoxville apartment complex.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel reports that Bray appeared in Loudon County General Sessions Court on Wednesday where he faced charges stemming from a July 4 boating incident.

The paper reported:

According to Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer Dewayne Williams, Bray was driving a Jet Ski with a woman passenger when he was observed by Williams “hot dogging” with another Jet Ski. Williams explained the term “hot dogging” as “almost like playing chicken” on Jet Skis.

The other Jet Ski tipped over spilling the unidentified occupants into the water. Bray then sped near the swimmers “spraying them with water,” according to Williams, who added “he was almost on top of them.”

Jet Skis are supposed to operate at least 100 feet apart, Williams said.

“This all happened directly in front of me,” said Williams of the incident. “That’s what I couldn’t believe.”

Bray was charged with reckless operation of a personal watercraft and failure to have a boating education certificate, both misdemeanors.

In Wednesday’s court hearing, Bray reached an agreement on the charges in which he agreed to either make three appearances at schools to promote boater safety or make a public service TV spot. He also lost his boating privileges for a year and must take a boating training course and pay court costs, the News-Sentinel said.

In exchange, Bray will not have to enter a guilty plea, which could have resulted in six months in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Bray’s behavior raises concerns for Coach Derek Dooley, who recently praised the junior quarterback’s increased maturity and “lifestyle changes.”

“You have to live as the quarterback at Tennessee,” Dooley said at SEC Media Days. “If your lifestyle is not reflecting that, then it’s going to be hard to go out and perform to your best.”

After Bray admitted to throwing beer bottles at cars from his apartment balcony two weeks ago, Dooley called it “silly behavior” and then made a joke about it.

“Obviously, his accuracy isn’t where it needs to be. He missed the trash can,” Dooley said.

Dooley has not commented publicly on Bray’s boating behavior.

Tennessee opens the season Aug. 31 against North Carolina State in the Georgia Dome.

This is hillbilly behavior. Bray is from California, but Tn converted him real quickly.
Look at that picture. Doesn’t that look say, ” Where’s the moonshine”?

I guess we can say “at least he isn’t beating up cops in a bar parking lot…things are looking better in Knoxvegas this summer!”

BTW, what is up with all these CFB players getting in trouble at lakes this summer?

Not a chance in this world Dooley will do anything. The kid absolutely feels he is above the law. 2 separate vandalism incidents late in July. Admitted to the first but not the second. Charges dropped on both. Early July these charges at the lake and a deal worked out with judge to keep off his record. Now he can get arrested again in August and there is no record of any of this July activity. Only at UTk can a cop get kicked unconscious by football player and no charges be filed. Dooley continuously kissing the backsides of these kids is really embarassing to UTk and the SEC.

Just glad UGA is not alone in all this silliness. Any punishment will reflect directly on Dooley and with this season being a “hot seat” season, my bet is that he won’t miss any playing time.

Water, jetski and a college kid trying to impress a girl. What’s abnormal about that? Happens every day on the lake here. Give the kid a break.

Well at least he wasn’t drunk or drugged up. He was just being a kid and the fact that he did this in front of a TWRA officer is a good hint he didn’t even know the law. GIVE HIM A BREAK AND GO BUST A REAL CRIMINAL!!!!!!

God blesses all of us in different ways. It never ceases to amaze me how often these athletes take that gift and throw it away. None of his actions are necessarily serious, but throwing beer bottles at cars and wrecklessly endangering others(and himself) on the water are the actions of someone ready to have serious accident. He is in position to make millions of dollars and he is doing dumb s!?t like this? I certainly hope that he grows up soon because this kid can flat out play! Looking forward to seeing you in orange this fall(on the highway picking up trash!!!) GO DAWGS!!!!

This is really a case of kids being kids. Who hasn’t sprayed/splashed a dock/boat or people using a boat or jet ski?
If I was Dooley I wouldn’t even say a word about this crap.

what a joke. So, Coach Dooley just laughs this off. Courts drop the charges. Wow, poor Isaiah Crowell, if only he had gone to Tenn. he not only would still be on the team after riding around with an illegal weapon but if he took a shot at somebody and missed he could have shared a good giggle with Dooley when he looked into the cameras and said, “Good thing he’s a rb and not a qb cause he can’t hit sh#t!

EDawg71-”hotseat”? This is only DDs 2nd year after Kiffy’s drunken house of horrors. I hope DD is given a chance and gets UT back up in the elite SEC club. I love playing UT when both teams are hot….makes for some good SEC caliber football. Even though Rocky Top drives me frickin’ nuts, at least they are not a Johnny come lately S. Calalackey.

@Buckhead Bulldog – DD is one of the top 5 Head Coaches listed on the hotseat this year. Not saying it’s right, or that I agree with it, but yeah he’s on there. Being a Dawg fan, I really do want the 2nd generation Dooley to succeed. Just goes to show you it’s a “What have you done for me lately” college football world we live in. This is not a big deal? Did you hear what happened to Usher’s son in July? How about the other boy’s who were hit by the drunken hair dresser in June on Lanier? This is a big deal only in the fact that boating safety is paramount. Do not give me the excuse that kids will be kids. I have a place on Lanier with boats and jet skis. MY kids KNOW the right things to do and have been through boating certification classes. The parents need to do their jobs and coaches as well. This could cost a life!

Murray was Photographed at FSU underage drinking a beer. WHY wasn’t anything done to him?
This is about as serious.
Mutts got their butts in a knot just because UGa players get arrested for real crimes so they want everybody to get in trouble too.
Did the cop look under the seat? I bet there was an illegal spear gun with no serial on it. cops really missed their chance to get a real bust.

auburnfan, how do you know he wasn’t drunk? I guess he wasn’t drunk or had been drinking at all when he was chunking beer bottles at parked cars either, huh?? Not sayin’ he was drunk, but guarantee you he had been drinking while out on the lake on a summer day with his buddies. Nothing wrong with that at all, but when your the starting QB at a major college football program you have to be more responsible and conscious of your actions than that.

The point is if the kid didnt play football for Tennessee his jet ski incident would not be reported in the Atlanta Journal. College athletes are held to a different standard from other students and unfortunately they have to give up a large portion of their private lives to play college sports. Sadly, the media reports mistakes made college athletes to sell newspapers and boost ratings.

Dooley is desperate and Bray and the team know it. Thus here we have another Georgia in the making. Players loss focus because there is little to look up to in the form of a dynamic coach who has the player’s attention. Hence reasons why South Carolina will not win a Championship either. Out of these three, Georgia now stands the best shot at a Championship via Richts added years on to his contract, as well the biggy, that the players see him as no longer the Dad who always receives the prodigal son back with a feast and the best coat. The players at Georgia now know things are for real, and that stupid goes to other schools via a fast bus ticket back to Mommy.

More antics from the mountain mutts. But srsly, this is NOT really newsworthy. The Tn wildlife ranger did his job and wrote him a ticket. These guys for all of our incredulous disbelief are still just dumb kids. Throwing beer bottles off your balcony is kind of embarrassing but it’s UT, not Penn St., right?
