UPDATE: Head coach Derek Dooley has responded to the vandalism incident involving quarterback Tyler Bray, saying he was disappointed in his quarterback, and then joking about it.
Dooley’s reaction, reported in the Tennessean:
“He’s made some progress in a lot of areas, but that’s just silly behavior. Any time we get a little negative publicity for our program, we take it seriously.”
“Obviously, his accuracy isn’t where it needs to be. He missed the trash can.”

Tyler Bray was accused of throwing beer bottles and golf balls from his apartment balcony. (UT Athletic Dept. photo)
Bray, 20, has offered to pay for the damages he inflicted to one of the cars, so he will not be charged in that incident, police told the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
“The victim called us and said she no longer wishes to prosecute,” Knoxville Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk told GoVolsxtra.com, part of the newspaper’s website. “[Bray] reached out to her and told her he would take care of the damages to her vehicle,” he said.
The victim, Bradi Hudson, said the windshield of her 2008 Ford was broken and that Bray and his roommate also damaged the car last Friday.
Hudson told police that after the Friday incident Kirstie Allen, another resident of the apartment complex, told her that Bray and roommate Michael Grandinetti were responsible for the damage.
On Monday, Allen, called police to report that her windshield had been smashed in apparent retaliation for implicating Bray and Grandinetti.
She told police that Bray and Grandinetti had thrown beer bottles off a balcony and onto vehicles in the parking lot, the Associated Press reported. The report quotes her as saying an office manager for the complex told her Bray and Grandinetti had been “served with an eviction notice just prior to her arriving home.”
As of Thursday morning, Tennessee Coach Derek Dooley had not commented, even though police said they notified him of the incident on Monday.
The Vols open the season Aug. 31 against North Carolina State in the Georgia Dome.

Police now saying the retaliation window smashing and car damage was not related to the first incident. How stupid are folks in K’ville to believe that. 3 Vol players, all with rap sheets, swear that Bray was with them somewhere else at the time of the second vandalism. Girl #2 won’t drop charges so K’ville. cops drop investigation. Dooley buys it all. The AJC would go nuts over this if it was UGA. Talk about Loss of Institutional Control. The Coach doesn’t run the Univ., the players run the Coach. Ya gotta be embarassed for Dooley, he is such a wimp.

Difference is Sanders was kicked of the team at UGA for first offense. Bray was named ‘face of the offense’ by Dooley and no punishment at all. Oops, forgot he admitted to the first vandalism and offered to pay the damages so that is being called punishment. The second offense, due to the expense of the damage, is a felony in Tennessee. Little Tyler won’t admit to that one.

A college kid tossing golf balls and beer bottles at a car from an apartment balcony is bad. No doubt. Malicious, destuctive behavoir at best. He should be thankful no injuries occured. But to feel that it’s akin to driving around with a pistol tucked under the drivers seat with a filed down serial number is a truly stupid comparison of college high jinks.

Hey we ain’t got no room to be cumming down on a Vol player when half of our players are either in jail or on probashun. He made a nukilheaded mistake and he will pay the price. As I see it Mark Rich ain’t much better as discapline than Dooley. Go Dogs.

He must have studied Steven Garcia’s playbook, except Garcia vandalized his teacher’s car, not his neighbors. Only 4 more violations to go and if they find a better QB he’s off the team.

Don’t have a problem with a kid throwing a couple things at cars, I rattled a few at the Sussex Club Apartments back in the day, everyone here did too. You get drunk, you do stupid stuff. However, I wasn’t a quarterback in the SEC with a team to lead this fall. Guy’s an idiot doing that in the position he’s in. At least Stafford was just holding up a keg, not destroying property.

See the difference between the police departments with SEC schools? Other cities PD dp not arrest unless they absolutley have no choice and do all they can to NOT arrest a player.
These guys would been in the slammer and all over the papers a week ago if they were Bulldogs! We just hear about this now, days after….the police departments and universities should be ashamed for treating football players differently than they do regular citizens and students….
Go Dawgs! Beat em anyway! Especially big mouth Spurrier. And AUburn where they definitely wont arrest a player unless they have to….the University OWNS that town…..trust me.

As a former student at Tenn., Dooley should kick Bray off the team as soon as possible as Richt did with Crowell. The beer bottles he threw could have easily hit someone on the head and caused serious injury. It may be kids being kids but sometime they have to be held accountable.

What? No suspension? He’s not being charged? Is that all Tennessee?
Why do some schools punish players and some schools don’t?
Isaiah Crowell should’ve gone to Tennessee and he’d be playing this season, gun or no gun.

However; when you start destroying my personal property, you have over stepped my boundaries. You and the rest of you jerk need to get off Richt and UGAs back about discipline issues. The only difference between UGA, Tennessee, GT, SC, Auburn and Alabama is that UGA actually disciplines their players when they step out of line. It’s quite obvious that none of the schools I mentioned does anything to a player when one of theirs steps out of line. The DaLiar case was conveniently dropped, as is this case with Tyler Bray. Mr Emmert where the he!! are you? It’s as plain as the nose on your smug face that Tennessee is covering up for their law breaking kids. Didn’t you call it lack of institutional control?

Poor dumb Vol fans. Don’t know the difference in a HC that actually punishes kids and one who consistantly kisses their arses. Every school have some kids who mis-step. However, only UTk has and absolute dumpster fire of players running over the coaches and coaches who are afraid to do anything about it.

I hate, stupid, “I am the man” mentality crap that these kids do. Like Mettenberger, like which ever FSU qb ran up tix parking in the handicap spots, like what Bray just did. I know what Mettenberger did was 100 times more vile but it starts with the same mentality, “Look at me. I’m the all star. I can do what I want. It doesn’t matter that I hurt others because I’m so cute.”

Vol in Bethlehem get off your high horse. What Bray did was worse than what Crowell did. Who the he!! did Crowell hurt? What property damage did Crowell cause anyone? Crowell kept his weapon under his car seat. Bray was throwing his weapon at people’s cars and destroying them. Don’t compare what Crowell did to what Bray did. Crowell hurt no one but himself. Bray was destroying peoples property because the whinny little coward was miffed because some lady point him out for being the jerk he is. He didn’t hurt himself because the victim was bought off and that coward DD, just as he did with DaLiar, will do nothing more than kiss Bray’s butt.
