Report: Lane Kiffin gets commitment from 7th-grade QB

One day after pulling together one of the top-ranked recruiting classes in the nation, USC coach Lane Kiffin was already looking further down road, like way down the road.

According the Delaware News Journal, Kiffin coaxed a verbal commitment out of 13-year-old quarterback David Sills Thursday night.

“I’m very excited but I was very, very nervous,” the seventh-grader told the News Journal about talking to Kiffin over the phone. “It was very cool but my heart was beating so fast, and I was scared. But after it was over, I was so excited and pumped.”

I never felt welcome in Knoxville at all. From the very first day we moved there, I kept seeing these signs all over town that said “Fire Lane”. They were at shopping malls, movie theaters, grocery stores, and even at my kids pre-school. Come to think of it, I have been seeing those signs all over Los Angeles. Why do so many people want to Fire Lane??????

I believe that the “Peter Rule/Law” is exactly what Kiffin has stepped into. He may have his dream job now, but he has gotten himself promoted beyond his talents, therefore he will not be long at USC or any head coaching position. After hearing our new coach, Mr. Dooley, I am extremely pleases that Kiffin left as Mr. Dooley is what UT needed, period. We just had to suffer with a dang wenie to realize what kind of coach to go and find!! All HAPPENS FOR A REASON!! GO VOLS!! & GO DOOLEY’s!!

Mrs Kiffin….I cant answer why you have never been exposed to “Fire Lane” signs. However I grew up in the Oak Ridge/Knoxville Tennessee area and we have had “Designated” “Fire Lanes” since I have been alive! A Fire Lane is typically painted red (at least the curb) and you will get a parking violation if you happen to park in one. When a building catchs on fire, usually fire trucks end up there trying to save our homes/businesses. Those fire trucks MUST be as close as possible due to water pressure problems, quicker response and the trucks are fairly large and they hae to have somewhere to park in order for the firemen to do their job. Please, Please tell me that you did not know what that meant? Knoxville welcomed your husband, you, your family and fired a good man (with 4 games to go in his first bad season) to make room for your husband. Lane should have fulfilled his contract, then went to USC and Knoxville would have helped you guys pack. But after i season??? This is just another example of how this is nothing more than a Dog-Eat-Dog World. Best Wishes and thanks for making room for Mr Dooley!!

If a 17-18 can’t keep a commitment what would make any of you think a 13 year old will any way Kifn wont be there in 4 years .

@ Daniel Carter……please tell me you are being sarcastic or trying to make a joke. If not, you are dumber than my husband. By the way, can you tell me if Knoxville has taken down all those “Fire Lane” signs since we left town.

Is there anything in the report that states he sent two eighth grade girls with signs that read “sign with USC” to his little league game? Just wondering.

I have a whole new outlook on Al Davis now. He called another man a lier on national tv. A real unusual happening in todays world. CLK by all accounts should not be in a position to mold young people’s minds and careers. This guy is a little more than scary. Parents, keep this guy away from your children at all cost. Many of us know now Al what your had to endure. CLK is creepy bad!

What type of parent would let Lane Kiffin near their son? Child Protective Services needs to be called in.

there is so much wrong with the entire scenario.
Kiffin is crazy and that is all there is to it. USC was crazy for bringing him on board. He is a liability.
Then, there is the issue with the parents(aka sperm and egg donors) for this child. Money grubbing people selling their child to the devil-sounds like child trafficing. Yeah, let’s call it that..

With the exception of renegade#1 and jb the rest of you are pathetic. All you can do is squabble back and forth about recruiting classes, Kiffin, his wife, and your beloved teams. What about the parents? Do they not have any respect for their son? What about you and your kids? Would you do the same thing? Be honest with yourself.

Now, there is nothing wrong with supporting your beloved teams. But get a life people, sports shouldn’t be what consumes your life. Maybe I am wrong, but it appears that most of you are like this.

Think about this, we as a society place more of an emphasis on sports than we do education. If you don’t agree then ask yourself why teachers pay and educational programs are being cut and not sports programs.

What a publicity hound (Oh, Kiffen used to be a hound at UT). Now, he’s just a Trojan.
College recruiting has to be changed. The process has to have a much shorter amount of time that kids can be contacted and the kids should only be allowed to contacted in any manner by the schools after the end of their Junior season of football. Say, January 2nd of their Jr. year.
Do away with the current early commit period. Limit any/all coach/school contacts/visits to half of what is now. Do away with “unofficial” visits to school.

For those of you claiming that you beat Tech in their up year while UGA was in their down year…what does that say about last year then? We beat you during our first year with a new offense, and you guys were ranked preseason #1, and Stafford had his best game performance and still lost. Short memories…

Lane Kiffin is everything that is wrong with college football and goes against everything it is supposed to teach. He sold his sole to the devil a long time ago, and now some kid is going to turn into a pre-madonna for the rest of his middle-high school career. Way to go Lane, I hope for your sake they serve cold beer in hell.
