Tiger Woods took to the podium at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and issued an apology to all in his version of the facts from that fateful accident Thanksgiving weekend. It differed greatly from the apology leaked the day before.

In his first public statement in three months, Woods says it remains a private matter between he and his wife, Elin. And apologized for his infidelity to his friends and fans. Here are the photos to prove it.

He cleared his wife of any physical violence and said she did not strike him on Thanksgiving evening, before or thereafter.

In short, “I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated.” But you can hear it straight from Tiger. Or see this video for the highlights. If you don’t feel like hearing Tiger, you can …

What grade would you give Tiger Woods on his apology speech?

By now, you’ve heard what Tiger Woods had to say. If you haven’t, it might be time to check the old pulse.

The post-speech analysis–and there’s plenty of it–seems to split down the middle.

Communication and branding experts found Tiger sincere.

ESPN columnist Bill Simmons did not.

As every element of Tiger’s speech is broken down, from the malfunctioning camera to 40 solemn souls in attendance, we wonder what AJC nation’s take on the whole thing is.

What was your favorite Super Bowl ad?

The Super Bowl is more than just a game.

While fans of the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts have a rooting interest in the game others watch just for the fanfare and the commercials.

CBS charged about $2.5 million per 30-second spot. Thirty-five companies or groups paid to air spots in this year’s game.

This year’s offerings range from the serious — Focus on the Family’s controversial Tim Tebow spot — to the humorous — Denny’s spot warning chickens to get out of town.

So, which ones had you rooting to see it again and during which ones did you get up for seconds (or thirds)?

Here are some of the highlights:

• Dwight Howard and LeBron James got things started with a recreation of Michael Jordan and Larry Bird’s famous “The Showdown” Super Bowl ad from McDonald’s of 17 years ago.

Report: Lane Kiffin gets commitment from 7th-grade QB

One day after pulling together one of the top-ranked recruiting classes in the nation, USC coach Lane Kiffin was already looking further down road, like way down the road.

According the Delaware News Journal, Kiffin coaxed a verbal commitment out of 13-year-old quarterback David Sills Thursday night.

“I’m very excited but I was very, very nervous,” the seventh-grader told the News Journal about talking to Kiffin over the phone. “It was very cool but my heart was beating so fast, and I was scared. But after it was over, I was so excited and pumped.”

Herschel Walker: ‘I would hurt’ Canseco

Herschel to Canseco: 'This is no joke.'

Herschel Walker said he “would hurt” Jose Canseco if the two ever met in a MMA bout.

“Jose wants to do this for money,” Walker said Wednesday on a Dallas radio station. “My thing is, if he wants to fight me and he thinks it’s going to be a circus, I will hurt him. This is not a joke, I will hurt him, because I don’t do things as a joke. I don’t do this as entertainment. If we go out and play a flag football game, that’s entertainment. We’re having fun. But this MMA fighting is real. You can get hurt, and he doesn’t understand it. I do this as an MMA fighter, not as a joke.”

On Monday, Canseco challenged Walker on his Twitter page, tweeting “I guess I may have to show Herschel Walker who the real bad Boy of the Sports industry is. If the powers that be are reading, I want in.”

Strikeforce, the company that promotes Walker, has said a Canseco-Walker bout is highly unlikely. But if it was to come to fruition, would you pay to Herschel …

Jose Canseco wants a piece of Herschel Walker

“I guess I may have to show Herschel Walker who the real bad boy of the Sports Industry is,” Canseco wrote on his Twitter page. “If the powers that be are reading, I want in.”

Walker made his mixed martial arts debut Saturday, scoring a third-round TKO over Greg Nagy. The 47-year-old ex-UGA star looked to be in top shape and overwhelmed Nagy.

Canseco lost his MMA debut last March. He was knocked out in 77 seconds by 7-foot-2, 330-pound Hong Man Choi of South Korea.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Walker’s representatives have not responded to Canseco’s challenge.

Stay tuned.
