Time for the report card on Georgia Tech’s effort Tuesday against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the FedEx Orange Bowl in Miami. Rate the team on the following four categories: offense, defense, special teams and coaching.
What grade would you give the Jackets' offense?
What grade would you give the Jackets' defense?
What grade would you give the Jackets' special teams?
What grade would you give the Jackets' coaches?

This should shut up all you “Jackets” “Wranbln Wrecks!:….24-14…..At least when we go to a

January 5th, 201011:43 pm
Go figure, another let down by the Yellow Jackets. We need a NEW DC…..Josh Nesbitt gets the MVP for Iowa and Dwyer….what a let down. I dont think Ga Tech wanted this bad enough. We were shown tonight, the offense we run does not work well agains good football teams. Where was the offense tonight,,,,in never ever land.
January 5th, 201011:45 pm
Ya’ll got what you deserved. Thinking you belonged after winning in the weak ACC and starting to talk more trash than SoCar. You are back to reality now. gtu will never be a quality football school, so forget it.
January 5th, 201011:46 pm
The Georgia Bulldogs (30-24) could have told the Iowa Hawkeyes (24-14) that the Georgia Tech Jackettes were overrated!
Overrated in football and overrated in basketball: UGA 73 Tech 66
I think I am going to become an Iowa fan, they play real good defense and know how to stop a high school offense.
Football & Basketball...
January 5th, 201011:48 pm
The Georgia Bulldogs OWN GA Tech!!!!!
Who’s your daddy? UGA is!!!!! LMAO
January 5th, 201011:49 pm
STFU TECH FANS AND GO TAKE YOUR CAR TAGS OFF YOUR CARS AND PACK UP YOUR FLAGS, YOU SUCK LOOSERS AND YOUR TEAM SUCKS AND YOUR COACH AND YOUR BASKETBALL TEAM !!!!!!!!!!!!
January 5th, 201011:50 pm
1 out of 9 is a fluke!
8 out of 9 is domination!

January 5th, 201011:51 pm
But Schultz, Bradley and Fisher said we would win. What happened. Oh my now I got my PS3 wet from crying.
January 5th, 201011:55 pm
Willie Martinez wants to be Tech’s new DC.
January 6th, 201012:00 am
YES, jacket fans it’s that time of year once again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can You Say “CCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEE”?
So, still using the Orange Bowl as a “stepping stone to the BCS title next year? What will PJ’s excuse be this time? Will he complain like a little girl again? Looking forward to next year’s bitch slappin’ of the Nerds by UGA.
January 6th, 201012:07 am
How about those Oranges? Look who gets the last laugh now. TECH SUCKS – ALWAYS HAVE – ALWAYS WILL!!!!!!!!!!!
Where is that so-called “saint” anyway? I just want to give him a few numbers to ponder.
24-14 I thought GA had a bad defense
Suck on that for the next 9 months!!!!!!!!

Ain’t that a punch in the nose, Paul? (Johnson and Hewitt)
Anything but a GATECH Fan
January 6th, 201012:09 am
Let’s see: Clemson (ACC) vs South Carolina (SEC) – SEC wins; GaTech (ACC) vs Georgia (SEC) – SEC wins; GaTech (ACC) vs Iowa (Big 10) – Big 10 wins.
Is there a trend here? Let the record speak for itself. Oh, sorry; Clemson (ACC) vs GaTech (ACC) – I guess the ACC would have to win this game.
Congratulations to Iowa. They deserved to win. And as usual, GaTech is over-rated, over-hyped and under-whelming.
January 6th, 201012:19 am
Good God – brain-numbing UGA fan drivel again. Yup, we lost – we played badly on both sides of the ball and paid for it. Far from “sucks”, however and we won’t obsess over it all year – it’s a football game, people. Grow up.
St Simons: You can head to Iowa, we’ll get your box and punch holes in it for your trip. Be a fan all the time or bail.
#1DawginMississippi: At least we can spell and have more words in our vocabulary than “sucks.” We lost tonight but we’ll you in the basketball post-season. Oh wait – you’ll be watching us on TV.
I’d rather lose at a major bowl game than spend it in the “paradise” of scenic Shreveport, LA. Shoot, there are 34 bowl games – even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
January 6th, 201012:20 am
Tech played about like I thought they would. That one dimensional offense will work in the ACC and lower teams from other conferences, but not with the big boys. I commend Paul Johnson for running a system that will get him an ACC title.
Final Standings in the ACC: 1st-UGA, 2nd-South Carolina, 3rd-Ga Tech, 4th-Clemson.
January 6th, 201012:21 am
GAwd that was awful….ACC Champs uh? OKIE DOKIE then.
January 6th, 201012:24 am
Georgia fans you are pathetic losers. So we lost. Always got to come on and comment all your bull. We still ended the year with a better record than ya’ll. Playing after new years was nice but at least ya’ll could wear your santa hats to your bowl. As far as the basketball game, every team gets lucky every now and then. You know it will be nice that your basketball season will be over and you can watch us in the big tourney.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the basketball game. It was a two star night for the Dawg Nation. I hope you continue to gove Paul Hewitt more contract extensions and raises.
January 6th, 201012:31 am
30-24 & 73-66.
Coach Paul Johnson’s tech bowl offenses are averaging FIVE POINTS PER GAME? LMAO!
30-24 all year long!
January 6th, 201012:41 am
Clemson(ACC) beats Kentucky(SEC) who beat UGA(SEC). VT(ACC) destroys UT(SEC), who destroyed UGA(SEC)…. we could play that game all night.
As for tonight’s game, the loss is mostly on Paul Johnson. In the first half, Tech time and time again ran the TO at Clayborn and he was stuffing the dive, THEN getting to the QB. Tech made no adjustment until half and CPJ seemed hell bent on making it work on the best player on Iowa’s defense. After the half Tech had some success running away from #94. Why is took so long to figure it out is beyond me.
All in all a very good, exciting year, but still some major disappointments. I’m a Tech fan, but a realist. Tech is going to have to get bigger and stronger on both the OL and DL. Tech is getting whipped badly at times up front. Bobo got wise to this back in November. The option is a great equalizer (see Navy), but it can’t be relied on exclusively. Nesbitt is a tough kid and GT wouldn’t be in a BCS bowl without him, but the passing game, for the most part is miserable. Thomas is a good receiever, but you can’t rely on one guy for an entire phase of an offense and getting it to him is always an adventure. Then at the worst possible time, he drops it.
As for next year, Morgan is gone, Dwyer probably, and maybe Thomas. There’s still a lot of good talent left and it should be another exciting year. Defense is going to have to step it up. I hate to say it, but if no improvement is made on defense next year, the Jackets need to start looking for a new DC. Some would say that is in order now, but I don’t see it happening. Defense did play some decent ball tonight after settling down.
Looking forward to next year and as always…THWG !!
January 6th, 201012:45 am
Hey idiots. If you guys always dog the acc, then why do you get so excited about 30-24. Also if you want to talk about how ga and south carolina should have been in the acc title game then lets talk. If I recall, South Carolina just got beat by UCON (really?) and clemson beat kentucky which beat you guys this season. See how this works. Any team can beat another if they play better on that given day. Just because south carolina and uga beat clemson and gt doesnt mean you should crown yourselves acc champs. Just let the conference talk stop please.

“As far as the basketball game, every team gets lucky every now and then.”
Get your facts straight before you start spouting silliness.
The N.A.T.S. have not won in The Steg since 1976.
Looks like y’all don’t even get “lucky every now and then.”
January 6th, 20101:01 am
Really dude. You want to compare basketball stats. And I never said we won in uga’s building lately. Look at what I said again. Every team can get lucky any given game. Never did i say we won there at any point. You happen to play good one game against us at the steg. Congrats. Like i said have fun watching the other teams in the tourney!
January 6th, 20101:08 am
“You want to compare basketball stats.”
Uh, what? I simply provided a fact. It is a tool which rational people use in discussions. Nevermind the other fact that I QUOTED you. You cannot hide from it. 1976. Unless you think thirty-three years is every now and then… please.
January 6th, 20101:12 am
I think its prety stupid for ugag fans to think that you would beat IOWA, you can’t even beat KENTUCKY!!! you go to the LA. toilet bowl and play a 6-6 team that should not even be in a bowl game and you think that your team shuld be ranked #1, oh wait yall was ranked #1 preseason 2 years ago ang #13 this year preseason, Tech under CPJ is 20-7, 1-1 versus UGAG with recruiting classes ranked in the 30-40 range, UGAG is 18-8 the past 2 years with top 5 recruiting classes every year, is it that UGAG’s players are not as good as their ranking or is it that your coaching staff sucks?
January 6th, 20101:15 am
Are you kidding me? I never said anything about that stat. I am talking about your whole season. You may get lucky at this one game but what happens to your team the rest of the season. This game means nothing to GT. Who cares about your steg record. Most teams should defend their home court. Again maybe I should say congrats on your underdog win and not lucky. Would that make you feel better idiot.
January 6th, 20101:21 am
Well, well. I touched a nerve. My mistake for not understanding your a) context and b)ability to see into the future. I’ll tell you one thing, my yellow friend. You’d better hope we do pretty well or your strength of schedule just took a nasty little hit. Oh, but that’s right… losing to UGA (at everything) doesn’t matter to you lot. You’re too busy out punching us in our noses.
January 6th, 20106:18 am
Get Over it Tech, everybody has you firgued out now.
London Based Jacket
January 6th, 20106:36 am
Comin down the track – we owned you in basketball during the 80s and 90s but we did not play you in Smegman. It was usually in the Omni. That is the only reason we have not one in ATehens since 76.
January 6th, 20106:42 am
Good ball game. As a dawg fan I was pulling for Iowa. Overall GT had a better year than UGA. But the truth remains, UGA has dominated GT in football for the last decade. The SEC will continue to dominate the ACC, Yes, the ACC will win some, but the SEC will win more.
Now, basketball, that is a different story. ACC wins the most.
January 6th, 20107:08 am
DAWGS RUN THIS STATE – From end zone to end zone and up and down the hardwoods!
January 6th, 20107:36 am
son_sir & Jon come join me as a new Hawkeye fan, they play real football not some ancient high school brand like we do at Tech. I am tired of being embarassed by pulling for such a team. I am turning in my pocket protector and going to try to get a girl to date me.
January 6th, 20107:38 am
Need better defensive scheme/ more linebacker play/and a stronger defensive front and new DCThe offense is great against small fronts but the coaching must quit saying how great their triple option is an get some spread offensive with the QB not under center when swarming big defenses take away the triple option Johnson’s is good but needs some spread options
January 6th, 20107:39 am
fildawg–the only thing you run is your mouth.
January 6th, 20107:57 am
Let’s compare….UGA has whipped our Tech butts in football 8 out of the last 9! The worst UGA football team in a decade whipped our best Tech team in 20 years on our own *historic Grant Field in our little Bobby Dodd Stadium in front of our home fans 30-24 and outplayed us on both sides of the ball. Then UGA beat our super talented basketball team using a bunch of walk-ons. Then of course UGA won there bowl game as usual and we lost ours.
Conclusion: TECH SUX!!!! We are a bunch of pathetic losers that can’t win the big one! Tech chokes!!!! No doubt that 1 out of 9 is a fluke!
We only won the ACC Championship because the ACC was way down from usual and we were lucky! We certainly aren’t good. Iowa just spanked our little fannies and made us cry!
We at Tech will just go back to our annual whining and crying. Nothing new there.
January 6th, 20107:58 am
Note to CPJ- You’re supposed to suck ON the orange, not in the Orange. Drop the Georgia from your name, you embarrass us, AGAIN!!!
January 6th, 20108:00 am
The reality is that the Georgia Bulldogs are just superior to GA Tech!!!!
Dawgs Bowl win 44-20!!!
Tech Bowl loss 14-24!!!
UGA beats Tech in both FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL!
Dr. Michael Adams
January 6th, 20108:03 am
The Georgia Bulldogs whipped Tech in football as usual this year and won our bowl game while Tech as usual lost their bowl game. And the Bulldogs beat tech in Athens as they always do in basketball. GA Tech has not won a game in Athens since 1963!
You GA Tech fans can go back to your annual whinefest and make up your usual excuses now. We at UGA just laugh!
Capt. Hawkeye Pearce
January 6th, 20108:06 am
Go Hawkeyes!!!! 24-14!!!!! The Big Ten is far superior to the ACC! And that my friends is a proven fact!
PS. Our mighty Iowa Hawkeye defense held Georgia Tech to under 200 yards of offense while we dominated the line of scrimmage on BOTH sides of the football for a complete whipping of GA Tech!
January 6th, 20108:07 am
Georgia Tech is pathetic!
January 6th, 20108:13 am
There is no excuse – GT sucks
Those juniors better keep their azz in school because nobody will draft their worthless crap
January 6th, 20108:21 am
Hey Loran, Whatayagot?
According to your logic wouldn’t Kentucky be ACC Champs?
It is only year 2 under Johnson’s watch, and it will continue to improve. CPJ is still playing with Offensive and Defensive lines left over from the Gomer years.
And I still cannot understand why the Georgia fans have to spend so much time on the Georgia Tech message boards.
January 6th, 20108:32 am
boy, I hope the 10 Tech fans at the Orange bowl enjoyed themselves…
January 6th, 20108:33 am
It may only be “two years” under CPJ – but dude he has already peaked – there is nothing left in the tank.
January 6th, 20108:35 am
Tech’s Johnson got man-handled…
January 6th, 20108:39 am
Where was the OL in the first half? Reading that “next teir” crap in the AJC?
I was going to buy season tickets for Bb again this year but had second thoughts. Then I considered an ACC package. I will not buy a GT BB ticket again until Hewitt is fired. Fire him now! He did no coaching during the game. The team is selfish, one dimensional,(dribble dribble dribble…), no one cuts/moves, and it seems they run no plays. Mark Price is available. get him NOW!
January 6th, 20108:41 am
It is clear, anytime the GT option goes against a “real” program, if fails.
Broken play street football offense can do nothing against a traditional wall of beef.
It is also clear that Josh Nesbitt simply can not throw the ball. While there were a couple of instances where his receivers failed him, each of those balls were still wobbly ducks.
This game was much more one sided than the score would leave you to beleive. Iowa completely dominated Tech on both sides of the ball – a complete, total bitch slap. Iowa kick sand in the Nerds face, stole their girlfriend, and then showed her what a real man is.
Springboard to the BCS Championship next year? Are you kidding me? Their most prominent players are leaving for the NFL, and Nesbitt is a suspect QB at best. Georgia Tech will start the season ranked in the top 25 next year, and a realistic goal for the team will be to actually still be ranked inthe top 25 by the end of the season.
Oh, and for the most prominent bowl game in years, Geoirgia Tech couldn’t even sell out its ticket allocation. The Orange Bowl has a capacity of 74,476, but the game drew only 66,131 – only 88% of capacity for one ot the top four bowl games in the country – are you kidding me?
I guess Georgia really did take the Nerds’ lunch money, and they couldn’t afford to make their way to South Florida, or they knew what they were in for …..
January 6th, 20108:47 am
A high school offense will not work in division 1 NCAA football. They got lucky at first but real defensive coaches have remembered how to stop it from their high school coaching days. Take it back to Ga. Southern Coach Johnson. Seven offensive points less than five pass plays = PATHETIC!
