oh well, missed the “third” place! Overall, a surprising performance. Offense was able to wear down their defense. Special teams were stellar. Hopefully, next year will be a break-out year, not another “rebuilding” year. Happy New Year to all in the Dawg Nation!

UGA sold around 9,000 tickets for this game. Tech can’t even sell that for their “biggest bowl game in decades?” Who has better fans? Wow. I would hate my life too if I went to Tech. Terrible stadium, ugly women, football team is only good every twenty years, terrible campus, crime, always lose to UGA, etc.

I hope that some fans will realize what a job Mark Richt has done under these circumstances. I hope all the people griping about his faith and his family values will learn from the Urban Meyer situation that money and National Championships are fun but certainly not more important than God and your wife and children. I hope Georgia fans will count their blessings in having Mark Richt as a coach. If your child was to play, would you want less of a moral influence for his life?

I have watched the exchanges between Dawg and Tech fans over the last year including the obnoxious St. Simons 45-42. Interestingly, for the life of me, I have not understood why Georgia fans feel the need to answer Tech fans on Dawg sites. In some way to them, it makes their antagonistic post seem validated. I have always felt if Dawg fans ignore them and only have constructive and intelligent discussions about Georgia football, maybe they can find the same at their own sites.

I have to admit it, it was a great win by the dawgs over the 6-6 Texas A&M Aggies (I wonder if they would have beten a 7-5 team?!). The first 27 minutes of the game sucked, but then off went the fire works. I hope that my Jackets (#9) can beat the #10 Iowa Buckeyes in the Orange Bowl (you, a BCS bowl game).

My fan game ball goes to the Graduate Assistants. They proved they are true coaches threw all of this. Our linebackers and db’s dint looked lost like they had all year. Great job coaches.

It is always good to win. But, it was fortunate that we were playing a very average to below average team. I was only able to watch the second half, but it sounds like the first half was not a classic.
In the second half, we put together a poor tackling instructional on Texas A&M’s first drive. Our running game was shut down until late. Thankfully, their quarterback was not real accurate-he had plenty of time to throw against our four man rush, but missed many throws (and our pass coverage was pretty good). We were penalized for an offensive line movement, defensive offsides, kicking team offsides, and a face mask penalty. We used two time outs foolishly-one after we had an injured player taken off the field (thus, plenty of time to call a play), and once when we only had ten men on the field for punt coverage. Again, every second half kick was directional to the right, and gave them field position averaging at the 30. Butler, who has been a true star all season, punted into the end zone from the 40-it would have been nice to pin them back a little deeper.
We did a great job adjusting and running in the fourth quarter. Our pass coverage was pretty solid, and our run defense was good. We had some really big special teams plays. We only had one turnover. But, if we had played a quality team, our inconsistency, unforced errors, poor tackling, unimpressive kickoff coverage, etc. would have led to a loss, and possibly an embarassing loss. We are a long way from competing with the Gators and Tide, and we are still vulnerable to getting stomped by Tennessee as we have three of the past four years.
We have some very talented players and finished this year with a big rivalry win and a bowl game win. It would be great to play 12 solid games-48 solid quarters-next year.

I’m not really impressed either. Its always good to win, but the team we played sucked. We couldn’t tackle, couldn’t sack the QB, and wouldn’t pay attention. There were plays that were live and we stopped. Play until the whistle blows!!!!!
I am so glad Cox is done. Logan Gray is not the answer.

Just catching up on comments. Glad to see most Dawgs are moving on with some degree of satisfaction from win at Independence Bowl. I think Garner’s influence had strong positive effects on D and special teams. I am glad this season is over. The win should help with recruiting. Questions still remain with offense coaching staff. Really looking to see who win’s QB position. I hope they name a guy that can run as well as pass. I like Joe Cox, what a fine guy. He is going to make a good coach. His story could be radically different had he played more. These North Avenue guys that keep claiming a 1990 national championship – what planet do they live on? History books (on other college campuses) say the Ga Trade boys “shared” the title with the U of Colorado Buffaloes. Note the difference. “SHARED.” An interesting fact is the Buffaloes took the AP poll and the Ga Trade schoolers took the UPI poll by one vote – 847 to 846. Undoubtedly the designation “SHARED” was engraved on some rings, seeing as how the boys over there like clarity, etc. etc. As one blogger wrote, “Better to be a Dawg in Shreveport than a Bee in the ACC.”

Hey Tech Man let me remind you CPJ is actually winning with a couple 4 star recruit’s from the Gailey Era… do you realize what happens when his recruits actually hit the field ( his 2 and 3 star recruit’s ) let me shed some light on this for you…. think of a 1-AA team trying to play Division 1 Football… ouch!!! Beinf a former women’s athletic director, I saw compassion for the game, compassion for each other and dsicipline and respect, both on the field and OFF. I had many graduate asssitants, one who eneded up at Geirgia Tech as their Footbal Athletic Trainer, Crandall Woodson. Don’t Mess with success; Keep the crew you had at the bowl game…THEY EARNED THE RESPECT OF FANS and definitely THE PLAYERS ALREADY KNEW. UPDATE – your point being to emphasize how much stronger the SEC conference is than any other conference???? I agree the SEC is much stronger certainly than the ACC which has 1 team which has won a BCS Nat’l Championship – that being Florida State in 1999 (Miami won prior to joining the ACC and like all ACC teams has seen it’s glory days all but die)
Yes, it’s tough to win Nat’l Championships when you are playing contenders during the regular season. It’s tough to win Conference championships too but GA has managed a couple during this time.

Let’s use the logic of GT fans here. GT beat Clemson twice, Clemson beat Kentucky, Kentucky beat UGA, therefore UGA beat A&M by 24 and Texas beat A&M by 10, so does that mean that UGA should be playing Alabama for the national title?……..silly tech fans!!!!!!

Dawgs Special Teams saved the day, and the offense finally awoke in the 2nd half. I was glad to see Munz & Chapas get those reps, Bobo needs to get them more touches next season. In addition to hashing out the QB situation, backfilling the DL, the Dawgs need to bolster the OL. I’m hoping Durham returns in top form & gets a shot at #2 WR.

Now is the best time for the 2010 season for this offense to get a new idenity.First and formost Bobo and CMR need to go to other programs during this off season to get afeel of how to run a spread offense or find some other solutions to mix the offense up a lot from what we have been doing in the past.The offense was terrible in the Texas A&M game and was very predictable what we were going to run the whole game.If it happen to be for the speical teams play it would have been a closer game if not could have lost the game. This I fomation has got to go away run first run secona down pass third down then punt.I’m not a football coach at all and knew what the first play of the second half was going to be called A RUN UP THE MIDDLE the running back got two yards.There is doubt and question why we struggle with a SEC defense that is better than average aka FLA TENN LSU SOUTH CAROLINA KENTUCKY we are so predictable of what we are going to run it’s not funny. The reason next year is the best time is because a new young QB will be taking over the reins of this offense and the opposing defensive are not sure what to expect out of them.If BOBO and CMR would install alot more formations and plays not seen before in the past that wuold keep the better defenses in our league guessing.Now is the time 2010 season.
