This is one time I’ll say that the Falcons got jobbed by the refs! If the game had been called fairly, they would have won. I’m disgusted, because they ( for once ) gave it their all, and got screwed.

Come on Mecca! The Falcons did great without Ryan and Turner. I am proud of this team and feel that we can still have a winning season with this team. Mike Smith did great getting this team to come together after last weeks loss. I am proud to be a Falcon fan and know that we will be one of the elite teams very very soon. Who cares about the playoffs..we wouldn’t of gone very far anyway. Lets have back to back winning seasons and nip that in the bud. I am behind this team 100%! Go Falcons…BEAT the Jets!

Offense played great all day except for a couple plays (wildcat and the pick). Defense didnt play good at all and was fortunate to of only given up 26. Special Teams did good with 3 FG’s, a bunch of touchbacks, missed PAT, and the fake FG stop. Coaches did a great job preparing the Falcons to play the undefeated Saints and played them close. Falcons need to win out in order to have back-to-back winning season for the 1st time

We won’t have a losing season! Go out and injure yourself and see how it feels not to be able to play. Grow up! We will finish with a winning season!

Despite the poor play calling on the last two drives, the team played really well. (Mecca, you are an idiot.) However, it seemed like the refs wanted to keep the streak going for the Saints. Several questionable calls and several just CRAP calls. “The spot,” 2 interference calls, missed facemask on Redman, and others make this loss hard to take. Really makes you question the integrity of the game. If the NBA can have crooked refs, why can’t the NFL?

This is the same Falcons of old…get the fans hopes up and go into a losing spiral. Mularkey is Dan Reeves reincarnated. We have too much talent on this offense to be losing like this. Redman, why in the world would you ever throw the ball short of the first down line on a 4th and 2? I’m tired of this…supporting a team that just finds a way to lose the game week in and week out. Dimitroff this is just as much your fault for the lack of moves you’ve made to solidify this defense. You know that this defense was weak and had plenty of question marks with the secondary. Shoot the defensive line is just as bad. Arthur if I were you I would want some answers and my GM and coaches better have some answers.

one thing you can count on is, if something is working you can bet the falcons are going to change it. i tell you guys these coaches have got to go, they probably wont because we have such a sensitive front office. we need to change at least one of them. my choice is BVG. but MULARKEY is a close 2nd. and someone has to do something, maybe start fining these refs with the horrible flagging ive ever seen in my life. someone needs to be able to flag them for some of this foolishness. but this ones not on redman. this ones on the coaches period.

Falcons need to get rid of Mike Mllarkey, who the hell throwa a 1 yard pass underneath when you need 2-3 yards. He has proven that he does not belong in NFL )not For Long league when you call those kinds of plays…Get him gone! Reffs calls were questionable, at the end of the day, they won’t make .500/worse stat in the league no back to back winning seasons in franchise history. Is there any reason why the dome is full of oppsoing teams fans. Hard to be a falcons’ fan…D’Hall still sux!!!

If the players play well enough to win the coaches step in and crap on the field. Mike Mularkey, wild cat at that time in the game when momentum is in your favor was one of the stupidest calls I have ever witnessed. You are not even a wildcat team but at this stage in the game you pull this bulls@#t out of your ass. I’m sorry Falcon fans but we don’t have a coaching staff yet so going to the playoffs and winning Super Bowls has got to be a ways down the road. BVG and Mularkey are not the answers we need. Mike Smith I like your intensity but you are starting to look retarded on the sideline with those faces.

Watching the Falcon’s celebrate with the Saints after the game on the field just proved to me that the Falcon’s have a bunch of losers on their team. I noticed Atlanta’s best players just ran off the field, probably because they hate to lose.
They will not be able to win if they hang on to players that are used to losing and are ok with it. The coaching was horible today, from not throwing the challenge flag when the Saint’s where a yard and a half short and Redman throwing a one yard pass when they needed two.
Whoever is picking the players to be on the team really needs to look at where they are and rethink their responsibilities.
And if the players are sick of hearing about how they never had back to back winning season, well, MAYBE IF THEY WOULD WIN IN A WHILE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT…..

The last two offensive plays of the game are very bothersome to me. 3rd down and ten, and Tony runs an eight yard route, I do not understand why he would not have ran at least a ten yard route and picked up the first down. I love Tony and know that he plays hard every play. 4th down and 2 yards to go with the game on the line and we don’t throw a pass for a least two yards. We throw behind the line of scrimmage and don’t get the first down. Season, as far as playoffs, officially ended with those poor choices. It is very disappointing as a life long Falcon fan, this one is on the coaches choices of plays. If someone a lot of knowledgeable than I, can tell me why these choices were made I’d would appreciate it.

Falcon fans what happen to all the BIG HYPE for this season. I thought the Falcons were going to have back to back seasons and win the Super Bowl this year. Mike Smith was the greatest coach. Matt Ryan was the next great QB. Tony G. was going to take them to a Super Bowl win. Now fans are all mad at the Falcons. The Falcons do this all the time. Big hype then they let fans down. I love to say this, I told you so. The Falcons will always be losers. Great shot of Daddy Arthur with his head down shaking it at the end of the game. Don’t blame the refs. That is for losers. Ha Ha. Falcons let their fans down AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Considering the fact that our franchise qb and rb didn’t play, not to mention several other valuable players, I am proud of how this team performed. Under the same circumstances in the past, they would have quit long before the whistle blew. Except for a few bad breaks and a couple of bad plays, this game would have been ours when it shouldn’t have even been close.

Overall great game, you cant be mad about that one. We played well on both sides of the ball. A couple of bad penalty calls and a few bad offensive play calls at the end could have made a difference, but still great game.

I’m a Falcon’s fan no matter what. I’d rather be a Falcon’s fan and be
0-13 than be a Saint’s fan at 13-0. I thought our guys played their hearts out. Not bad to come within 3 points of beating the Saints using our backup QB. I guess anybody can be 13-0 when you’ve got the Refs in your pocket. That was some of the worse officiating I’ve ever seen. I’ve said for a while that a lot of NFL games seem fixed. Unfortunately, this game only make me think that even more. Somebody needs to check into these officials.

When you consider that the Falcons were without Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Harvey Dahl and others, it’s really surprising they kept it this close.
But, with the exception of the interception, Chris Redman had a great day, and the defense came up with stops when they had to.
I’m not into moral victories, but the team didn’t roll over and play dead – like some of the teams in the not-so-distant past would have done.

Look for you guys that are always making excuses for this team, i.e., our schedule was too hard, our starters are out, etc., the backups get paid to play, the coaches get paid to coach–which they haven’t been doing a good job at–and the GM is suppose to staff this team to complete (which he failed at this season). Injuries happen to every team. NO has injuries, but do you see it stopping them from winning? I just hope Arthur holds Dimitroff and Smith accountable for the playcalling of his DC and the lack of talent on defense. This team has been disappointing for the over 26 years I’ve been supporting them. When are we ever going to get it going on all cyclinders…GM, Coaching, Offense and Defense?

Defense: was swiss cheese out there today.
Coaching: was ok except for Malarkey… you gotta be kidding me with the “wildcat” reverse and the underneath call on 4th down at the end.
Refs: definately slanted towards Saints, but the falcons had two chances to win the game… and did not get it done.
I didn’t expect this beaten up team win. So, congrats on a good effort… but i would have liked to get the “W”.

Losers always blame the refs when that cant win games. If you look at the penalties you will see that the Saints were flagged more than your Feltchings. Everyone always says the games are fixed, Saints should have lost bla bla bla. If you look at the Saints last two games you losers would see that against NE we were flagged 5 times they were not flagged at all. What a joke. Last week we were flagged 7 times for 130 yards they were flagged twice for 15 yards. Please be my guest and look at the box scores. You’ll have the time, your loser team will be home for the playoffs

What is wrong with these people on this blog. The Falcons lost calling people who paid to see a game “thug” or ignorant because they don’t cheer for who you want them to cheer for is real ignorant. Does this change the score? Does this get you a win. Maybe if you had enough fans you would not have to be mad about the opposing team having more fans at the gamem. Now its Vicks fault that there were so many Saints fans at the game. Think it through before you make silly statements. You lost simple as that, Cowboys lost, they are not blaming it on past players. Broncos lost they are not blaming Cutler. Only in Ga do they live in the past.

These Falcons players and coaches are no better than the players and coaches on any of the previous teams of the past thirty years .I say that because two consecutive winning seasons would have shown that we have a better team, coaches and a better attitude committed to winning. And after over thirty some odd years of the same inconsistency, there’s no room for excuses….. cause if you’re not a winner then what are you ‘Falcons” professional loosers, career loosers, perennial loosers, the team name should be changed to atlanta loosers…. cause I’m sure you hold the NFL record for the most consecutive years with out back to back winning seasons, and even in Mr Rodgers neighborhood that makes you loosers.

Saints fans worry about your Saints. Falcons only wish that they could have a play caller like Sean Payton. Mularkey is old news…not the coordinators of the future that know how to really plan against a defense and make in-game changes to the offensive play calling. There’s no need for us to not be putting up at least 28 points a game with the talent on this team. They use Weems once or twice and we don’t see him any more. And for dd we can criticize this sorry coaching staff–and Dimitroff–for sitting on his azz and not doing anything to help this defense all we want.

Don’t worry fans. I’m going to bring in a defense that will knock the socks off all opponents next year. 1) We use all the players on offense to make a play–not just Roddy, Gonzalez, Jenkins and the RBs
2) We do whatever it takes to get defensive play makers on the field next year (FA and not just draft)
3) Put better players on the OL to compete against the top tier defenses so they aren’t running through our OL like ghosts
4) Get an OC and DC who can design a game plan against each opponent–and not the same plan for everyone
5) Arthur needs to hold his GM accountable for this year’s fiasco. He knew this team was a hodge podge of yesterday’s subpar players

Too much criticism of the offense, really. They played inspired without a whole host of players. The defense is another story. They are embarrassing. Special teamers and practice squad signees litter the field on defense. Brooking was “so bad” at covering the TE that they brought in Mike Peterson….older and even worse in coverage. Not to mention Nicholas and the crummy corners out there. Maybe at 6-10 they’ll be able to draft Derrick Morgan?

Did you guys see how many times the Saint’s were holding the defensive players from Atlanta and not calling them. Holy Crap, the was the worst officiating game I have ever seen. How do you mark the ball a yard and half short of the first down. The refs were right there. Maybe they just didn’t like the Falcons but Coach Smith needs to slam the refs in his press conf. and take the fine.
I think on the most part the falcons played great, except for the couple of bad throws from Redman, I know the coaches called that play but Redman has been in the league for a while and know how to look off that reciever and throw to another one.

It is time that coach Smith find another job he have no idea how to manage a game and it was oblivious from Sunday game . The Falcons need a real coach that can get them to the next level .

Again poor play calling and running routes short of first down yardage (several players guilty). And another reverse that loses 13 yards that sets up the interception..overall the Falcons did not quit and did not take a few plays off in the middle of the game which they did in the previous two games.

The falcons did not get jobbed by the Refs as the first poster noted. When a defender pushes the receiver out of the way, even if it is with his shoulder, in order to get an Int., then that is considered pass interference. The falcons couldn’t stop the Saints in the 4th quarter, when they needed to and they couldn’t get a 1st down on 4th and 2 when they needed to. Game over. Saints 13-0 and the falcons are on the verge of, yet again, ending a 43rd season without back to back winning seasons.

On the reverse call, Randall Gay (CB) was blitzing from the side that the reverse was headed. I wonder if an experienced QB would have audibled out of the play. There was no one there to block him, hence a 13 yard loss.

Here we go again. The one thing we all must admit is that the falcon fans sure are full of excuses every week. Last week it was the Michael Vick SUPPORTERS that cost the falcon a win. This week its injuries and THE REFS that cost the falcons a win. Next week it will be because they played in the cold when they are used to playing in a dome. Excuses, excuses, excuses. LOSERS always have excuses and someone to point the blame at. Winners ALWAYS ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY! No wonder this franchise hasn’t had back to back winning seasons. Falcon fans always say that NO ONE MAN IS BIGGER THAN THE TEAM, but when the falcons go back to their losing ways, its Michael Vick’s fault cause HE destroyed our franchise. And to Kyle, with that dumd ass post it is no secret that you are a redneck republican. Haven’t served in the military but are willing to send other people CHILDREN to fight a war that YOU think is all good but YOU would never go fight in was for a country that YOU so called LOVE. Considering the overall history of Falcons ownership, this team is about on par with all the others. Ownership needs to get out of the way and let the coaches do their jobs, and stay out of the personnel business. Mr. Blank needs to let the people he hired as player scouts earn their money. His job is to sign the checks. Only when that happens will the Falcons consistently field a decent team. The only decent defense the Falcons have ever had was the years of the “Gritz Blitz,” and it was a flash in the pan.

Wow a one yard pass when you need two yards………I think a run could have gotten the first down, but that play call was poor at best !
I wonder how the game would have turned out if the face mask call on Redman was called ?

OK, people….let’s look at this realistically:
1) 2 plays cost the game (Wildcat and the interception) – place that on the OC
2) Defensive secondary was OK…but could improve
3) DL could not put a rush on Drew Brees ALL DAY!!
4) Offense was OK….but needed to go downfield more! Michael Jenkins NEEDS to learn how to catch more!! Others will say that he caught TDs yesterday…but the one where we was WIDE OPEN by 5 yards and didn’t make the catch was pathetic!!
I’m hoping that we can run the table and break the streak of non-consecutive winning seasons! THAT’LL be the start of making this franchise better!!

Mike Smith is awesome. I love his passion and intensity. I would like to see some of the players have that some kind of emotion when they are playing. They are doing ok despite injuries so they have to play all 4 qtrs.

When you need 2 yards for a drive continuing first down, why in the world do you throw a 1 yard pass, especially when you are not under any real pressure? The one coach who really needs to be looked at closely is the offensive coordinator. His play calling has been real suspect all season long.

You people are stupid. The media hates the Saints, always have and always will. The Saints are 13 and 0 and still get no credit. What kind of suck fest do you think would be happening if Dallas was 13 and 0. Unbiased media, yeah right. Oh yeah and for all you morons talking about your huge magical season of 11-5 last year I just wanted to remind you that the 8-8 Saints beat you in Dec. and are now 3-1 against Mike Smith and his staff. It’s just a sign of things to come my friends.

Hey ignorant Wanda please look at my earlier posts. The saints were called for more penalties than the Falcons were. So explain how the refs helped us win. Maybe if your garbage team could make some plays to close out a game they would not be in this predicament.

I was really hopeful for this year, and I thought Mike Smith might be a great coach. However, the inexcusable stupidity on the last 4 calls when the Falcons still had a chance to at least tie and go into overtime changed my mind. Even I, without any coaching or football experience, could have done better than that. Well, the Falcons are perpetual losers anyway. You have to go back to Leeman Bennett to find a coach with any hutpah at all.

Weak azz crying Falcons fans, It’s so easy to loathe you and your thug loving mentality. Dope dealing Babs should play, Vick is our thug, convicted felon hero. If he was here we would win. Can you people not see that your young QB has a bright future? There would be a handfull of teams that would pick him up right now. But instead of standing behind your team you cry for the criminal thug that is a has been qb that never even was. As a Saints fan I know a thing or two about losing, but I never abandoned ship. That is way I loathe your fans and organization.

Being a Bills fan, I’m sure not going to criticize another team. I’m no vet either, but I know a horse’s azz when I see one. It’s name is Mularkey. He was head coach for the Bills at one time, and he wasn’t good at that position either. Poor play calling, missed catches, and the Refs didn’t help. But considering who the Falcons were playing, they played well. The Aints are a good team, and I hate to say it but they will certainly be in the super bowl, and will probably win. Overall, the Falcons played them better than I expected.

This is why it would be so sweet if the the Saints could win it all. Everyone hates the Saints, no one wants us to win ever. The media, the league and every other fan in the NFL wants us to fail. Thats what is so sweet about this year, we are making people miserable because we keep winning. And I love it.

I thought that Redman did better this game against NO than the first 2 games and even if they lost by 3 points,I think the the coaching staff sucks and need news ones including new coordinators in the box that isn’t worth the money they all get paid.
I wish I could get paid millions of dollars to sit on the bench just because of a injured toe.All of the black players as well as lots of the fans put Bad Mickie Vick the dog fighter to much on a petal like he is some kind of a God like they do Obama the zebra. No man in any sports needs that kind of money to play ball regardless of what sports it is.They all get paid too damn much and let Author Blank and all of his staff pay out of their own pockets if they want another new stadium here in Ga.
Let Redman start the rest of the games lft to play and then maybe he will have more confidences in hi ow self.Every time the Falcons get anybody good they trade them off to some injured player from another tea.The best thing Blank ever done is to get rid of Vick the one man team who thinks you spell it with a “I” instead of Team”.It’s take all the members to win pull together like a chain link fence but once the link is broken it falls apart..There’s too much favoritism on the team.Everyone of the players should be noticed and not just the QB.
Besides, the Falcons has never been a super bowl team and never will be.Like the time they went to Fla to pay and they got drunk and parted the night before and lost the game.

IT’S VERY EASY TO PLACE THE BLAME ON THE COACHING STAFF, THAT’ WHAT NONE ACHIEVERS DO. ALL THEY CAN DO IS MAKE THE CALL….THE GUYS REALLY MAKING THE BIG BUCKS ARE THEN RESPONSIBLE FOR CARRYING IT OUT. ONCE THE BALL IS IN THEIR HANDS THEY HAVE TO USE JUST A LITTLE TINY BIT OF COMMON SENSE AS TO WHAT TO DO. (THE COACHES CAN’T DO IT FOR THEM LIKE THEIR MAMA’S DID.) NOW INSTEAD OF SHOWING ANY
DEGREE OF BRAINS, WHAT DOES THE RUNNER DO? OF COURSE HE RUNS STRAIGHT INTO THE BACK OF HIS OWN PLAYERS WHO IS PILING UP OTHER PLAYERS OF BOTH SIDES THEREBY CREATING A FIXED OBJECT PREVENTING ANY OR LITTLE GAIN. IF THE RUNNER HAD
THE INTELLIGENCE TO LOOK EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT HE WOULD SEE THAT THERE ARE OPEN HOLES HE COULD HAVE RAN INTO THAT JUST MIGHT HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING.
ADMITTEDLY THAT IS A LOT TO ASK OF A FOOTBALL PLAYER WHO IS INCAPABLE OF THOUGHT. MY SUGGESTION TO COACH SMITH WOULD BE TO REQUIRE THE READING AND MEMORIZING OF THE BOOK “RUN TO DAYLIGHT” BY VINCE LOMBARDI. ON SECOND THOUGHT, IT JUST MAY BE THAT THE BALL HANDLERS CAN’T READ, (EVEN THO THEY MAY POSSESS A
DIPOLMA FROM SOME PRESTIGIOUS COLLEGE). PERHAPS THE COACHING STAFF WOULD DO
WELL TO READ IT TO THEM, AS IN A CLASS ASSIGNMENT. THEN THE NEXT TIME THEY WITNESS A RUNNER DOING SOMETHING THIS STUPID–BENCH HIM. THEN AFTER THE GAME
TRADE HIM. SURELY TO GOD, ARTHER BLANKS IS SMART ENOUGH TO BACK YOU UP.
THANKS I FEEL BETTER

The Ultimate blame for the lack of success of any team lies with the Owner, and he probably doesn’t care what any of us thinks, much less expresses. What I find difficult to accept is the lack of common sense in the hiring of general managers, and coaches. It is proven each year, over the last two decades, that the SEC is the “Best” college conference in America. Atlanta is the focal point of the SEC, geographically. The majority of our coaches, and players do not reflect the SEC. The “SEC” plays a better defensive brand of football. The Falcons players as a whole can’t, or don’t want to tackle. They play like “Sissies.” The defensive backs do not cover well, or tackle well. Why play them the whole season? The offense as a whole has made consistent improvement. Injuries, however, appear to have a more negative impact on Atlanta than other teams.Talent depth rests on the GM, and coaches. Inspired, and well motivated lesser teams sometimes beat better teams. The Falcons are neither.

Hey Norman. You were not paying attention when Vick played here. He was the most consistent player trying to win games. As a backup QB this year on the Falcons team, Vick surely would have won the last 3 games, giving the Falcons a great shot at the Playoffs. You, and Blank are bigger than forgiveness. Such Hippocrites. Man, you can’t spell.
