If Tebow wins, they should discontinue the trophy! It’s already a travesty that he’s a finalist!

Tebow is the best player, period. He has done it all for Fla.MVP! But he has won one time and I like to move it around. COLT McCoy 1st this time. Suh is a hell’va player=2nd then Tebow 3rd, 4. Ingram 5 Gerhart
Thats just my pick….have at it.

You don’t vote for the team? I can see alot of people don’t like the Gators.

Drew what do u look for in a football player? not much!

look at the numbers! There are tons of QBs with better numbers than him. I mean, freakin Joe Cox threw for more TD’s. Seriously? Joe Cox? No way Tebow is the best player on that list. I would choose any of those guys to be on my team before him. If Florida didn’t have a stingy defense, they would have lost 3 or 4 games this year.

There should only be 3 players on the list and none imho is a QB. I think Suh is the best player but Ingram came up big in the biggest game on the biggest stage. He is my winner, and I’m fairly objective since I don’t care for Ala or Fla. You have to give the devil his due, 3 years ago Tebow was one of the greatest players in CF history. Not this time and McCoy choked big time, so he wouldn’t get an invite were I doing it.

Alabama fans better hope Ingram DOESN’T get it or he will bale out just like Hershal.

Isn’t it interesting that they all came from football factories, except Stanford. Where is C J Spiller? Heck, with all the prime players around each of the 4 FF schools, most anyone who played for them could win it. It’s the player that does more on a team with lesser players is the one who should get the Heisman. Biased just like the BCS bowl selection.

Otherwise I pick Gerhart, then Suh. Tebow stunk up the SEC Championship, Ingram stunk against Auburn and McCoy stunk against Nebraska. He was lucky his pass out of bounds wasn’t lofted higher or he would have run out of time.

Josh Nesbit would be a better nominee than these 3; His stats, decisionmaking, and the abuse he took should have elevated him into the final nominees. But he and Spiller aren’t in the Cadilac conferences that the sportswriters concentrate on.

If it is a true award for the best overall player, SUH is the winner and if not Gerhart should be a close second.

Hey Drew, you blow sir as Tebow carries his team, has class, and has demonstrated time and time again what true leadership is all about.

Therefore, he gets my vote!

Forget who he plays for, as any team out there would take him as their QB!

Again, this should not be all about STATS since this player is the best player to ever play the college game!

Tebow is clearly above the pack!

Enough Said!

I am as big of an ALABAMA as you will find…but I still think that Tim Tebow is the best college football player there is. I love Mark Ingram and I wouldn’t trade him but I have to be honest…ROLL TIDE!

Drew, the award goes to the player who may not be the best player, but the player who has the most impact on his TEAM! Why would anybody question Tebow’s impact to UF. He has carried this team for 3 of the 4 years he has been a UF!

I find it odd that CJ Spiller was not even on the list. I thought the Heisman went to the most valuable player on a team…Not the player on necessarily the best team. Without CJ Spiller Clemson isn’t worth a dime. Same thing for the Stanford RB which is why I voted him the winner. Tebo and McCoy are surrounded by play makers CJ Spiller has no help.

If tebow wins the heisman it automatically becomes as relevant as the nobel peace prize.

George- Glad you don’t have a vote since you don’t understand college football. Ingram can’t “bale” out since you can’t leave for the NFL until after your junior year. Ingram wins it hands down.

If it weren’t for his classless “gator chomping” DURING the game, Ingram would’ve won. Idiot.

If thew award goes to the player with the most impact on his team then how can CJ Spiller be off the list?

My vote is for Gerhart, but he won’t win because his team had so many losses. McCoy probably wins for the “career achievement” category.

Okay honestly Tebow should be out of the picture. You people keep riding this guy jock. Look how many touchdowns he scored during his career when the game was already out of reach. When real coaches would have had their 2nd and 3rd units in they were trying to run up the score. But time will tell. C’mon next season when the no experience guys hit the field. Thanks Tebow and Urban Meyer (stat padders)

I don’t like Florida, but how can people consistently be saying that Gerhart deserves the Heisman over Tebow?? If people hate you because you’re THAT good, then you deserve to win it. Even though I think Colt deserves it.

This is so bogus. Gerhart, Ingram, McCoy and Tebow are NOTHING I REPEAT NOTHING with out the offensive line. If the offensive line didn’t block it would be 3 and out every series. So the Heisman should go to the offensive line not these Bozo’s. The only player that comes close to being of the list based on his own merit is Suh.

UGA83

Cinncyjacket and I have the exact same order for the best college football player this year. That’s the criteria, not best pro prospect (Suh 1 or 2, Tebow third round), MVP on best team (Ingram), lifetime acheivement award (Tebow first, McCoy 2nd). Ingram ran behind the best O line in college football and had worse numbers than Gerhart who did not. He sucked against Auburn and 113 on 28 carries against Florida is 4.0 a carry, very average for a college back. But Suh just destroyed one of the best offenses in the country, far and away the dominant player in the college game this year.

Tebow 5th, Gerhart 1st and the rest doesn’t matter……Numbers don’t lie (Thank God).

Tebow (not even the best in the SEC)
7th in the SEC in Passing Yards
6th in the SEC TD Passes
2nd in the SEC QB Rating (Nationally Josh Nesbit has a higher rating as does Case Keenum, Jimmy Clausen and Max Hall)

Gerhart
1st Nationally in Rushing Yards
4th Nationally in Yards Per Game
1st Nationally in Rushing Touchdowns
1st Nationally in Total Rushes on the Season by a RB

Yes, I’m a huge Husker fan, but my vote is not because of that. Suh is the best player, and expected to be 1st in the draft, because he is the best. He completely shut down Colt and that high-powered offense! Something no other team could do, except OU. If he doesn’t get it then I think Ingram should as I feel he is second best. Colt is good, but not best player, in my opinion. They only won because the refs gave Texas an early Christmas present, 1 second!

This award is such crap. The most valuable players are hardly ever finalist. They left off CJ Spiller the most dynamic and most important player to his team. Clemson wouldn’t have won but a couple games if Spiller hadn’t been around. I agree with another post on here that Nesbit should have been a finalist with Suh, and Gerhart. But I’d give it to Suh of the ones listed. I feel bad for whoever wins this year because they’ll amount to nothing in the NFL.

Yes, I agree with you Breal. Look at Vince Young, great in college, not so great in the NFL. Same for Matt Lienart, he sucks in the NFL. Suh is great and will be hard to handle even in the NFL, but he won’t win because they always give it to an offensive player!!

all i have to say is there are a bunch of idiots on this blog. The heisman is not for the most valuable player to their team, it is “awarded to the most outstanding player in collegiate football” CJ Spiller is a great player, but not heisman worthy, Nesbit is the one that you will never hear from again after he leaves college football, and is retarded that people think he should be considered for the heisman. Suh, Ingram, or Gerhart should get it.

Huskerdee

December 8th, 2009

Dental Dawg I agree with you. People think an entire team has to be good in order for a member of the team to get the heisman. That is not what it is. It is for the best all-around player regardless of their team’s rank. Nebraska had a rough season, but Suh is by far the best player this year.

I can’t believe that people haven’t figured it out…Tebow is being invited to the Heisman Award ceremony for one reason. His contribution to the game of college football has been so significant that the committee has decided to change the name of the award from the Heisman Memorial Trophy to the Tim Tebow Award!!

I think I’m gonna cry!!

all these players are top notch.

Ingram was interchangeable with the backup RB – the o-line is responsible for his play.

McCoy or Gerhart definitely.

hands down the best college football player is suh. anyone who objectively watched the big 12 championship game saw the most dominating performance by a defensive player ever in a major game. why does this award have to go to an offensive player?

Gerhart plays in a pitiful conference. If any of the top 6 teams in the SEC would have played against hi, he would have been limited to 60 yards rushing, MAX! Mark Ingram has my vote. He is the best player in college football. He gained over 100 yards rushing in a huge victory over one of the best defenses in college football. There are so many haters of the Tide. Ingram is simply the best there is right now. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

Yeah, Ingram sucked it up at Auburn but guess what? He was injured that one game. Gerhart has more yards and alot more touchdowns then Ingram but look where Gerhart is playing? SEC has the best teams hands down. I mean its pretty hard to rush 1,600 yards in the SEC. And the people saying Ingram wouldn’t be there if it wasnt for the offensive line. You’ve obviously never seen him play before. It takes 5 people to bring him down lmao.

EHSWildman

Anybody that has seen all five of these players play this season has to agree that Gerhart deserves this award. He has looked virtually unstoppable at so many times this season and has willed his team to win. I think Ingram is the runner-up, with McCoy finishing third (with some great QB numbers), Suh in fourth (tough for a defensive player to win this award) and Tebow finishing fifth (sorry Tim, you are one of the greatest college football players of all time, but this wasn’t your year. Hopefully you will have a great career in the NFL as a defensive back, or slot receiver).
