Pathetic effort by everybody. Left a long time supporter with an urge to NOT watch next week. I don’t mind losing if it’s a good effort. This was not, I hope we don’t hear Coach Smith talk about how good the effort was and how resilient the team was.

This was an absolute embarrassment!! There was no redeeming element to this game, none. To let a team come into our house and flaunt MV in our faces is a disgrace! This smells like the MORA era all over again one good year and then crap the next. Coach Smith better get this through his head, 28th ranked defense is not acceptable! To be humiliated in our house is not acceptable. To let another coach do this to us is not acceptable!
Why in God’s name is the Falcons are always the team that gives other records??
I am so tired of the hype, the promises, and the let downs! If this is all we can expect, Author sell the team or disband it, tear the dome down and we can all watch decent college ball. After 40 years plus I am so over it.

If the Falcons can’t win the next 3 out of 4 the whole coaching staff should resign in disgrace.

I wonder if the Falcon players that went over to Vick to congratulate him after the game properly kissed his ***, because he sure stuck it in our faces and the sad part these players applauded him. Professional courtesy be damned, Coach Smith should not have shook any Eagles hands.

These Atlanta Falcons must be cursed for sure. They cannot put a winning team and coaching staff together to save their lives. Every good team in the NFL can bring in backups with no drop off and we have a QB that is no better than the 3rd string QB. The defense is a joke…front four and secondary. Do they really think they will compete with the top tier teams in this league? Our WRs cannot run crisp and the play calling is the second coming of Dan Reeves (two TEs, everyone stays in and blocks, run the ball, run the ball and try to run some more). Mularkey and Van Gorder need to both leave town. Arthur this GM of yours is quite the genius everyone was making him out to be. Get some REAL football guys in here…coaches and players.

At the begining of the season, Falcon fans said the Falcons are the greatest and they were going to win the Super Bowl. Fans said Mike Smith was the greatest coach and was going to get the Super Bowl win for the Falcons. What happended to all the big hype. I have said all year, same old Falcons. Randy O, I was tired of all the hype and I quit being a fan after the Jerry G. hype. Once again Falcon fans, next year.

the falcons are toast. Started the season in fine fashion…looked positioned to make playoffs…this team is a bunch of quitters except for Roddy White…I am not impressed with Matty Lice or Ice or whatever..Ice melts…do you think Brett Favre would have sat out with turf toe with Vick coming to town? Ryan is a bum, right there with Jeff George, George was probably better…never mind Redman, what do you expect? Turner the Bummer too (he didn’t play again)…1st and goal on the 1….4 runs up the middle…no points…why did we fire dan reeves? this is sad…the Saints will kill us next week…maybe I will find something else to do next Sunday…

Franchise QB? The Falcons can crow about Matt Ryan all they want, but until he shows that he can surpass Michael Vick by taking the Falcons past the NFC Championship game he will always be the other QB. Staying out today with a “turf toe” injury is not a good sign, especially in a must win game. But, The Falcons woes goes beyond Ryan. Michael Turner is beginning to look alot like former running back Jamal Anderson, too many carries. Jerious Norwood has never played a full season in uniform. The defense has become pedestrian at best. Last season, when the Falcons feasted 3-1 on an anemic AFC West is fast becomin known as a fluke season. This team can stomp on the the medicore and tomato cans of the NFL, but not the elite teams. This franchise is heading backwards, not forwards.

Tech would have run the option offense and played the Eagles better than the Falcons. Somebody on here said Vick threw his career away. Well, all Vick did do was run for a TD and threw for another TD coming off the bench and to all the haters he looked damn good. Ryan ruled himself out of this must needed win back on Monday and said he wasn’t going to play. This guy should have waited and see in practice the whole week before speaking out about that. I’m through with this Matty Ryan that’s our so-called franchise QB. He needs to step up or step out. But this kind of thing is routine here in Atlanta where guys that still can play come back to defeat their old team. Brooking (Cowboys), Boley (Giants), and now Vick (Eagles). This crap is a damn joke.

While the play calling was bad, I blame Dimitroff for the failures of this season.

No effort to really improve a dreadful secondary beyond cutting its leader in Milloy.

No depth along the D-line for when Jerry got hurt and Abraham got old.

No depth along the O-line, despite giving away draft picks last year to overpay for that walking band-aid Sam Baker.

Then blowing a second round pick on ANOTHER walking band-aid in William Moore.

Guys get hurt. I understand that. But why waste draft picks on players that come pre-injured?

Do that and you’re guaranteed to play short handed in November.

We lost today because we played a far superior team. We lost the way we did today because the coaches did a poor job of putting together a game plan and an even worse job of play calling. Other teams have people hurt and the coaches make adjustments so that they team is at least competitive. This was not the case today. We looked awful and the proper calls for the downs and the blitz packages that were thrown at us were just not made.

The people who want to jump off the bandwagon, go ahead and do so. The Steelers lost for decades before they got the proper people to turn things around. The Chicago Cubs fans endured decades of bad ball, but stayed with their team. I have been a supporter of the team since 1966 and will continue to be there for them. I will urge them to get better and make better choices but, never will I turn my back on them.

Michael Vick did a horrible thing but he has been convicted, served his time and will be forever remembered for what he has lost. But, he has paid the price and I can separate what he did from the football player. He is making an effort for redemption and as someone who understands what that means, I find it hard not to hope that he gets to go far.

Someone posted that this the low point of watching the Falcons. I watched a game they played against the then Los Angeles Rams where they lost 54 – 0. That was the low point for me.

I blame this on Michael Vick. He stole $20,000,000 in his signing bonus. We could have stacked this team with a legitimate back-up quarterback, a defensive backfield, and a additional defensive end. Anyone who cheered for that thief (against us) is not a REAL Atlantan! Again the dog killing money stealing Vick was playing against a team who’s resources he depleted!

Hey vodochld…Vick never took us past the NFC Championship either!! The Eagles stopped us in 2002 and 2004. Get your history right.

I was SO disappointed at the Falcons”fans” today. Cheering AGAINST your own home team for a person, that yes, deserves a second chance and redemption in his life, as we ALL do, but, treating him in higher regard than your OWN team. I saw all the No. 7 jerseys out there today, and when Vick came on the field, all you low life, back stabbing, classless, unloyal fans, made me want to throw something at the t.v.

Yes, when Vick was a Falcon, I cheered for him with everyone else, but the past is the past and GET THE F OVER IT!!!!!! He screwed his owner, his team, the fans, and this city. HE made the bad choice to kill innocent dogs, NOT Arthur Blank!!!

Regardless of the fact that the Falcons gave us nothing to cheer for today, STILL, show some class and loyalty to your team-FIRST!!! If you want Vick to do good, fine, great, grand, wonderful. But don’t wish for it to happen at the expense of your OWN HOME TEAM. Good god almighty!! All you guys that cheered for Vick shouldn’t even go to anymore games this season.

But let me guess, NEXT week, you’ll be back to your REGULAR Falcon jersey you wear and “faithfully”, and “loyally”, you’ll be cheering the Falcons on to win…Am I anywhere near the TRUTH HERE? All you Vick lovers and supporters, move to Philly and BE Vick fans. Stop wearing his jersey when it’s pointless! By the way, Vick’s performance to day was nothing more than a BLATANT FU to Arthur Blank. If you think other wise, your a freakin’ idiot!!

By the way, I’m a Falcon football realist also..the Falcons will NOT see the play-offs this year and they will be VERY luck to break the back to back winning season curse. You can’t win with NO DEFENSE!!!!!!

If you want a former player to do good, fine, great…just NOT at the expensive of your own team. I loved Keith Brooking. He was my favorite Falcon, until he went to Dallas. I still wish him well, but do you think for ONE SECOND I wanted his NEW team to beat his old one?? HELL, NO!!! I hope Vick does go one to bigger and better things, for his own sake, but I sure as hell don’t want him to do it at the expense of the Falcons. This offense was built around the sheer, raw, playmaking abilities of Turner, Ryan, White, Gonzalez, and a few others. The lack of foresight of the Falcons leadership to have a plan b in place is stunning. The second tier players simply aren’t the “playmakers” the first tier players are and therefore should have a different plan of attack. Having Shockly available and ready for these types of occurances (rampant injuries) would have made a lot of sense. This game is gone and it is probably too late for this year, but Shock definitely needs to get some major reps this week in practice, imo.

Halimaw….good points. I would also add that as a native born and raised here, I am a Falcons fan first. If A. Blank (not me) woulda kept MV7, I would be rooting for him. As it is, he didnt. But HIS actions, no one elses, caused OUR franchise to suffer. He is accountable. No one player is bigger than the team, even tho the press tries to make it so. root for him if you want, but if it is at the expense of our long suffering franchise, imo u R A DUUMBAARSEEE. Listen Mike Vick didn’t beat the falcons today at all, McNabb and the defense did ok, Mike just got In and did what any QB would have done at that time. I have always have and will always be a falcon fan and I have had season tickets for six years. Now I was a vick fan since he was In college and as a falcon fan , I don’t like all the comments on here about the fans that was chanting for vick to play and to score, So folks are vick fans before falcons fan and some has become falcons fans cause of vick so you would be out of place to try to call out so fans. Vick has done his time for his crime and we shouldn’t be judgemental cause no one Is a saint here we don’t have to like what he did but don’t hate on him for what he is doing. So now again the falcons lost the game cause the Eagles was a better Team today so I really hate to start calling some folks out on here………………

The people cheering for Vick are the same ones who were happy OJ got away with murder. That said, Dimittroff drafted players with injury issues then overpaid Roddy White who is a number 2 at best. He didn’t address the CB problem at all. Peterson for Brooking was not an upgrade. Lofton only solid player on defense and Gonzo and Dahl only ones on offense. Turner will never duplicate last season. he’s not quick enuff for screens or draws. And Norwood? A stiff breeze knocks him down. Atl fans are an embarassment. Those Vick fans aren’t Falcon fans. Problem is, the real Falcon fans are too few in number compared with any other NFL team.

I have been a fan for 40years. Atl doesn’t deserve a franchise. I wish it wasn’t so.

I would like to say that we are all Gods children on this earth. It saddens me how we continue to beg for God’s forgiveness daily but won’t do the same for others. For all of you that commented on the Mike Vic. Imagine God holding a grudge towards you for the last 2 years as you all have done Vick. Everyone is looking for someone to blame. Yes. He was responsible for his actions. Yes. He paid his debt. Yes. He should be forgiven and for some of the Fans today that cheered for Vick, the majority were diehard Atlanta Fans, but we are a big city with a big heart and he was apart of our family for years. It was for closure to let him know we loved him, forgave him, so he can have closure as well as we did. Imagine God being upset with us for 2 years, we can’t deal with not asking for forgiveness for one day which is why we pray and repent. Vick is apart of our history, we learned from it and so did he. MOVE ON AND STOP LOOKING FOR BLAME! God does not blame anyone, we can’t judge, we all will be judged and I sure would not want my HATE for another individual on this earth, Mike Vick, or anyone else of the matter, HOLD ME BACK FROM MY BLESSINGS! THEY DON’T HAVE THAT MUCH POWER UNLESS YOU GIVE IT TO THEM!!! STOP BLOCKING YOUR BLESSINGS AND FORGIVE THE MAN, AFTER ALL GOD FORGAVE YOU! We love our Falcons first, but we want him to do well and we wanted our Falcons to win! We need to clean house first, deal with home first, and no ONE PERSON WOULD CONTROL A GAME!

I am a pure breed of Atlanta, always will be:) Have a great week Guys!

dam I hate I have tickets to the New Orleans game. After the Falcons lost to the Giants, I knew the season was shot. Failure to address the defensive back problems prior to the start of the season shows that this organization is a long ways from developing a championship team. I think with a little more time Ryan will be a decent quaterback. We also need to draft a power running back with speed. Turner will never have the season he had last year. The off season and how well we do in the draft will tell how committed this organization is to winning. I’m pulling for Vick to make a great comeback.

Turf toe – you got to be kidding me. Missing 2 games with turf toe. Somehow running backs can play with it but a non-running QB can’t. It’s not like the season was riding on it – oh, wait, yes it was. No heart – no fire. Why was the three named QB in there at some point – Redmond is pathetic. Oh, and this teams chances of a winning season? Equally pathetic – collective turf toe!

for the person who commented on african americans cheering for vick, i must say, some of you just have a hard time dealing with persons of color who choose to think/feel differently from what the majority in the country deem to be “the right thing”. but it is okay to worship a george washington or a jefferson who owned and raped slaves and never did any time for it. i would suggest you put yourself in the shoes of those african americans who choose to cheer for vick (and note i said those african americans who choose to cheer for vick not all african americans) and you might be able to understand things from their perspective….not an easy job, but it might provide you some insight. it is called diversity of thought, and in this case their cheering did not hurt anyone. the falcons did not play well and the vick cheering fans cannot be blamed for that.

I am not a Vick hater! I hope to God they guy does get his life back on track. I took issue with the fans chanting, “We Want Vick!”, so loud that the t.v announcer(s) kept talking about it. My whole point was that regardless of how bad the team played, like crap, trust me, I know, that you should never want a former player to win with their new team at the expense of the Falcons, if they came form here.

All you “holier than thous” out there, I am a God fearing man. Yes, I screw up everyday, and trust me, I know the power of God and forgiveness. I supported the Commissioner allowing Vick back in to the League. He did his time, and he should get a second chance.

My issue was NEVER with Vick. It was with the fickle Falcons fans, that wore Vick’s jersey today, and next week, they will go back to wearing another one and cheering for the Falcons again. Like I said before, if you like Vick, fine, I cheered for him when he was a Falcon too, but the past is the past, move on. We have a new QB now, that in my opinion, is a hell of a lot better than Vick will ever be.

But here is a stat that will blow your mind:
2001-Falcons go 7-9, then draft Vick with the over 1st pick.
2002-Falcons go 9-6-1
2007-Falcons go 4-12, 50% Vick’s fault…50% Petrino, we draft Matt Ryan with 3rd pick.
2008-Falcons go 11-5
So in essence, Vick only made the Falcons 2 games better as a starter from previous year.
Ryan makes the Falcons 7 games better as a rookie starter, cleaning up Vick’s mess.
Oh, by the way, after 2004, need I remind anyone, that the Falcons tanked for two seasons straight WITH Vick, and before he got busted (2005, 8-8; 2006, 7-9).
Vick looks a lot different from this perspective now doesn’t he?

Why, pay 20-30 dollars just for parking to witness a 28th ranked defense and players who need a GUT check. Falcon players with the exception of a few, gave no do or die effort in this game(process!). This is not acceptable. A new defensive plan and/or coordinator has been warranted.

It’s pretty sad to see where the Falcons have gone this year considering they had a great season last year. As a Falcons fan it pains me to see this collaspe. injuries for sure have hurt the Falcons this year. Next year, Atlanta needs focus on the NFL Draft and get better defensive players then what we already have. Plus it would not hurt to sign some free agents next year too who can actually play some defense.

Did someone say this blog is more about race than football? Well, okay let’s talk football again, Falcons get blowed out in their own dome, they just did avoid history by avoiding shut out, another former player beat his former team and looked good doing it coming off the bench, Ryan probably could have played in a must needed win, no backup, injuries, no good coaching staff, which are issues now coming to light. So there you have it, football talk with game summary included. How much are those orange bowl tickets again?

The entire team stunk up the field but Redman was A-W-F-U-L yesterday. Hopefully now the coaching staff will realize that he is not a quality #2 NFL QB in the league. I wish they had put in Wilson because he could not have been any worst than Redman on yesterday.

After watching Redman guide his passes against the Bucs, I suggested that Redman must have some ROCKET FUEL stashed somewhere for Eagles game because there were NO ZIP ON HIS THROWS during the Tampa Bay Bucs game!!!

And the Eagles suckered the Falcons into a passing game, to pick Redman apart!!

Furthermore, Ryan haven’t been MUSTERING ZIP on his passes either. Falcons quarterback coaches better find a way to strengthen Ryan’s throwing ARM during the OFF SEASON!!!

Next season, he will need it!!
