Time for the report card on the Faclons’ effort Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Georgia Dome. Rate the team on the following four categories: offense, defense, special teams and coaching.
What grade would you give the Falcons' offense?
What grade would you give the Falcons' defense?
What grade would you give the Falcons' special teams?
What grade would you give the Falcons' coaches?
December 6th, 20094:45 pm
a direct snap on 2nd & goal was the dumbest call. you just gained 6 yrds on 1st and goal and you try to be cute!!! just pound it in! we score that TD and it’s one-score game. gosh, the same old falcons.
sam the sham
December 6th, 20094:47 pm
Pathetic effort by everybody. Left a long time supporter with an urge to NOT watch next week. I don’t mind losing if it’s a good effort. This was not, I hope we don’t hear Coach Smith talk about how good the effort was and how resilient the team was.
December 6th, 20094:50 pm
Falcons lose 34 to MV7
December 6th, 20094:51 pm
This was an absolute embarrassment!! There was no redeeming element to this game, none. To let a team come into our house and flaunt MV in our faces is a disgrace! This smells like the MORA era all over again one good year and then crap the next. Coach Smith better get this through his head, 28th ranked defense is not acceptable! To be humiliated in our house is not acceptable. To let another coach do this to us is not acceptable!
Why in God’s name is the Falcons are always the team that gives other records??
I am so tired of the hype, the promises, and the let downs! If this is all we can expect, Author sell the team or disband it, tear the dome down and we can all watch decent college ball. After 40 years plus I am so over it.
If the Falcons can’t win the next 3 out of 4 the whole coaching staff should resign in disgrace.
December 6th, 20094:52 pm
Man we have got to activate DJ Shockley from the practice squad to starter and get more creative with the offense.
December 6th, 20094:54 pm
well, i guess we should be grateful that we’re not detroit, cleveland, oakland, nor washington. The redskins found a way to lose another game. hahahaha
December 6th, 20094:56 pm
What a joke! The Eagles had lost to the Raiders.
December 6th, 20094:59 pm
I wonder if the Falcon players that went over to Vick to congratulate him after the game properly kissed his ***, because he sure stuck it in our faces and the sad part these players applauded him. Professional courtesy be damned, Coach Smith should not have shook any Eagles hands.
December 6th, 20095:00 pm
These Atlanta Falcons must be cursed for sure. They cannot put a winning team and coaching staff together to save their lives. Every good team in the NFL can bring in backups with no drop off and we have a QB that is no better than the 3rd string QB. The defense is a joke…front four and secondary. Do they really think they will compete with the top tier teams in this league? Our WRs cannot run crisp and the play calling is the second coming of Dan Reeves (two TEs, everyone stays in and blocks, run the ball, run the ball and try to run some more). Mularkey and Van Gorder need to both leave town. Arthur this GM of yours is quite the genius everyone was making him out to be. Get some REAL football guys in here…coaches and players.
I told you so
December 6th, 20095:01 pm
At the begining of the season, Falcon fans said the Falcons are the greatest and they were going to win the Super Bowl. Fans said Mike Smith was the greatest coach and was going to get the Super Bowl win for the Falcons. What happended to all the big hype. I have said all year, same old Falcons. Randy O, I was tired of all the hype and I quit being a fan after the Jerry G. hype. Once again Falcon fans, next year.
CHRIS REDMOND NEED TO GO BACK SELLING INSURANCE.HE REMINDS ME OF JOE COX FROM GEORGIA.AND MIKE MULARKEY IS FULL OF MULE CRAP. BUFFALO FIRED HIM AND AS ALWAYS THE FALCONS PICKS UP SOMEONE ELSES GARBAGE.
December 6th, 20095:05 pm
Anyone in this city who cheers for Michael Vick should be run out of town.
He is a low life scumbag, and will never live down the evil that he has done….
He is a thief and a lier, and should never be given a single hand clap as long as he plays the game of football……
December 6th, 20095:06 pm
the falcons are toast. Started the season in fine fashion…looked positioned to make playoffs…this team is a bunch of quitters except for Roddy White…I am not impressed with Matty Lice or Ice or whatever..Ice melts…do you think Brett Favre would have sat out with turf toe with Vick coming to town? Ryan is a bum, right there with Jeff George, George was probably better…never mind Redman, what do you expect? Turner the Bummer too (he didn’t play again)…1st and goal on the 1….4 runs up the middle…no points…why did we fire dan reeves? this is sad…the Saints will kill us next week…maybe I will find something else to do next Sunday…
December 6th, 20095:08 pm
I’ve been a fan since 1968, and this is about as low as I’ve ever been after a game.
The fans embarassed the city of Atlanta as well.
You can change the owner, you can change the coaches, you can tinker with the uniforms, you can sell cheap tickets, but it’s the same gutless, no pride, no character team. This team has no passion, just collecting fat paychecks and back up to get paid. Boo!!!!
December 6th, 20095:10 pm
Franchise QB? The Falcons can crow about Matt Ryan all they want, but until he shows that he can surpass Michael Vick by taking the Falcons past the NFC Championship game he will always be the other QB. Staying out today with a “turf toe” injury is not a good sign, especially in a must win game. But, The Falcons woes goes beyond Ryan. Michael Turner is beginning to look alot like former running back Jamal Anderson, too many carries. Jerious Norwood has never played a full season in uniform. The defense has become pedestrian at best. Last season, when the Falcons feasted 3-1 on an anemic AFC West is fast becomin known as a fluke season. This team can stomp on the the medicore and tomato cans of the NFL, but not the elite teams. This franchise is heading backwards, not forwards.
December 6th, 20095:11 pm
I will also admit when I am wrong. Redman is awful I don’t understand why coach did’nt put in JPW.
They just as well should have stayed home today…
This is not Chris Redman’s fault. Complete failure of coaching staff in preparing this team to play . No creativity. Terrible play calling. No intensity. Total futility by a supposely improved team. No heart. No passion to win. They will not make the playoffs. Sorry, Sorry, sorry team.
December 6th, 20095:16 pm
Shame on the people that cherred for Vick..shame on Atlanta!..
December 6th, 20095:19 pm
Redman is awful. They should start DJ Shockley next week.
December 6th, 20095:22 pm
Brett Favre…300 consecutive starts.. he retired how many times?…Matt Ryan…toe problems…misses game that could keep falcons in playoff hunt against team that has punished Vick (when playing for Atl) and the falcons for years with Vick in toe (no pun intended)…start over..Ryan is a loser…
December 6th, 20095:23 pm
is Roddy White a free agent after this season?
December 6th, 20095:24 pm
Didnt CJ Spiller play with turf toe yesterday? The whole Vick thing is too much, the did the crime and the time move on! The falcons might be better off without him, time will tell, but didnt Vick flick off his own home crowd once? Luv the falcons, GEAUX SAINTS.
December 6th, 20095:26 pm
Tech would have run the option offense and played the Eagles better than the Falcons. Somebody on here said Vick threw his career away. Well, all Vick did do was run for a TD and threw for another TD coming off the bench and to all the haters he looked damn good. Ryan ruled himself out of this must needed win back on Monday and said he wasn’t going to play. This guy should have waited and see in practice the whole week before speaking out about that. I’m through with this Matty Ryan that’s our so-called franchise QB. He needs to step up or step out. But this kind of thing is routine here in Atlanta where guys that still can play come back to defeat their old team. Brooking (Cowboys), Boley (Giants), and now Vick (Eagles). This crap is a damn joke.
December 6th, 20095:27 pm
The”fans” that cheered Vick are the same pathetic people who cheered OJ…
December 6th, 20095:28 pm
If Redmond has a job tomorrow The entire staff needs to be run out of town this includes you TD. Are you listening Arthur
December 6th, 20095:32 pm
I agree about redmond it could not be worse let anyone start but him he was terrible in the tampa game….
Isn’t DJ Sockley the former UGA QB on the team? DJ was a great player at Georgia.
December 6th, 20095:33 pm
Has anyone ever cheered MCOOK ? I think not.
Ryan should have played today what a wuss……..
December 6th, 20095:34 pm
Thanks Vick for making us small again at a Falcon’s game.
I grew up in Atlanta and a very long time fan. It is always the same old story. A sorry football team! I now live in Texas and on days like this it is good I can not see them on TV. Let’s hear another challenge from Abraham about how the defense needs to man up. What a joke of a defense.
December 6th, 20095:36 pm
Ah, CJ Spiller played with turf toe most of the season. Didn’t seem to stop his performance in games. Say what you want about MV7, but it’s clearly evident he came to play foorball. As the Eagles progress in the post season, most of the Falcons have begun to make vacation plans. During the latter part of the NFL season that is what losing teams do!
Not only have the Falcons not improved they have gone backwards the defense is the worst in the league………
December 6th, 20095:37 pm
While the play calling was bad, I blame Dimitroff for the failures of this season.
No effort to really improve a dreadful secondary beyond cutting its leader in Milloy.
No depth along the D-line for when Jerry got hurt and Abraham got old.
No depth along the O-line, despite giving away draft picks last year to overpay for that walking band-aid Sam Baker.
Then blowing a second round pick on ANOTHER walking band-aid in William Moore.
Guys get hurt. I understand that. But why waste draft picks on players that come pre-injured?
Do that and you’re guaranteed to play short handed in November.
December 6th, 20095:40 pm
Shameful day to be a Falcon fan. Black people just set race relations back 30 years.
The damn beer guy decided to come into my section to tell us “We don hold dem down but Mike don come back and be free at last.”
December 6th, 20095:41 pm
Well great… murderer Vick comes back to Atlanta and wipes his azz all over us. Smitty and the big D (as in thomas d) better find us some tricks cause here come the unbeatable saints.
Id use every damn QB we got with wildcat,scared-icat,and frikin stayin- alive- cat options.
December 6th, 20095:45 pm
How do you leave Redman in for the ENTIRE game???
How do you let good defensive backs go and not improve your team. Makes you know why Mr D is no longer with the Pats and now you know why Redman was out of football two years. Why not give JPW a shot–it sure could not have hurt.
December 6th, 20095:46 pm
We lost today because we played a far superior team. We lost the way we did today because the coaches did a poor job of putting together a game plan and an even worse job of play calling. Other teams have people hurt and the coaches make adjustments so that they team is at least competitive. This was not the case today. We looked awful and the proper calls for the downs and the blitz packages that were thrown at us were just not made.
The people who want to jump off the bandwagon, go ahead and do so. The Steelers lost for decades before they got the proper people to turn things around. The Chicago Cubs fans endured decades of bad ball, but stayed with their team. I have been a supporter of the team since 1966 and will continue to be there for them. I will urge them to get better and make better choices but, never will I turn my back on them.
Michael Vick did a horrible thing but he has been convicted, served his time and will be forever remembered for what he has lost. But, he has paid the price and I can separate what he did from the football player. He is making an effort for redemption and as someone who understands what that means, I find it hard not to hope that he gets to go far.
Someone posted that this the low point of watching the Falcons. I watched a game they played against the then Los Angeles Rams where they lost 54 – 0. That was the low point for me.
December 6th, 20095:48 pm
How does Mike celebrate? Slamming puppies skulls into the ground or hooking them up to a car battery!
December 6th, 20095:50 pm
I blame this on Michael Vick. He stole $20,000,000 in his signing bonus. We could have stacked this team with a legitimate back-up quarterback, a defensive backfield, and a additional defensive end. Anyone who cheered for that thief (against us) is not a REAL Atlantan! Again the dog killing money stealing Vick was playing against a team who’s resources he depleted!
December 6th, 20096:03 pm
Hey vodochld…Vick never took us past the NFC Championship either!! The Eagles stopped us in 2002 and 2004. Get your history right.
I was SO disappointed at the Falcons”fans” today. Cheering AGAINST your own home team for a person, that yes, deserves a second chance and redemption in his life, as we ALL do, but, treating him in higher regard than your OWN team. I saw all the No. 7 jerseys out there today, and when Vick came on the field, all you low life, back stabbing, classless, unloyal fans, made me want to throw something at the t.v.
Yes, when Vick was a Falcon, I cheered for him with everyone else, but the past is the past and GET THE F OVER IT!!!!!! He screwed his owner, his team, the fans, and this city. HE made the bad choice to kill innocent dogs, NOT Arthur Blank!!!
Regardless of the fact that the Falcons gave us nothing to cheer for today, STILL, show some class and loyalty to your team-FIRST!!! If you want Vick to do good, fine, great, grand, wonderful. But don’t wish for it to happen at the expense of your OWN HOME TEAM. Good god almighty!! All you guys that cheered for Vick shouldn’t even go to anymore games this season.
But let me guess, NEXT week, you’ll be back to your REGULAR Falcon jersey you wear and “faithfully”, and “loyally”, you’ll be cheering the Falcons on to win…Am I anywhere near the TRUTH HERE? All you Vick lovers and supporters, move to Philly and BE Vick fans. Stop wearing his jersey when it’s pointless! By the way, Vick’s performance to day was nothing more than a BLATANT FU to Arthur Blank. If you think other wise, your a freakin’ idiot!!
By the way, I’m a Falcon football realist also..the Falcons will NOT see the play-offs this year and they will be VERY luck to break the back to back winning season curse. You can’t win with NO DEFENSE!!!!!!
December 6th, 20096:05 pm
OK ! ENOUGH WITH ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT MIKE VICK. HE DID TE CRIME AND HAS SERVED HIS TIME SO EVERYBODY NEED TO GET OVER IT.
THE SORRY FALCONS LOST TODAY AND THAT’S THAT.
YOU CAN’T BLAME MIKE VICK CAUSE THE FALCONS ARE SORRY AS HELL. HE IS A EXCELLENT FOOTBALL PLAYER AND HE PROVED THAT TODAY.
FOR EVERYBODY THAT HATES HIM I THINK HE SHOWED YALL TODAY THAT HE CAN CARE LESS WHEN HE CAME BACK INTO THE DOME IN A EAGLES UNIFORM AND SHOWED OUT!!! LOL!
LET’S SEE MATT RYAN DO WHAT VICK DID TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!
THE FALCONS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO MIKE VICK!!!!!
GO MIKE VICK!!!!!
GO MIKE VICK!!!!!
KICK ROCKS ALL YOU MIKE VICK HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 6th, 20096:09 pm
You still AOL don’t you?
December 6th, 20096:13 pm
MV7STAN…get F over yourself. I ain’t pissed at Vick, God bless the guy for getting his life back together. I’m pissed at the sorry, low class, fans that cheered for him to “do good” against THEIR OWN DAMN TEAM!!!!!
If you want a former player to do good, fine, great…just NOT at the expensive of your own team. I loved Keith Brooking. He was my favorite Falcon, until he went to Dallas. I still wish him well, but do you think for ONE SECOND I wanted his NEW team to beat his old one?? HELL, NO!!! I hope Vick does go one to bigger and better things, for his own sake, but I sure as hell don’t want him to do it at the expense of the Falcons. And the fans that cheered for him to score against the Falcons, while THEY are wearing Falcons jersey’s, is just PATHETIC!!!!!
December 6th, 20096:15 pm
Do some of the people on here go to church,it doesnt seem like it.If people are trying to make things better and you see it you learn to forgive.Vick didnt have weapons when he was playing with us besides dunn and alge, but still lead us to the NFC Champ game.Ryan has weapons and is not playing at expections.HALIMAW you cant blame it on Vick. When we was doing good last year 20M didnt hurt us than or now.You didnt think Ryan would win ROY,or we would make playoffs.everything is not goin to work as you thought it was.
December 6th, 20096:16 pm
Great game. I miss MV7. The Dome felt like it used to feel. Can Matty throw a 44yd pass like Vick did? Not with that weak arm!!!
December 6th, 20096:18 pm
Glad to see Vick do well today, BUT I’m a Falcons fans for life!!
