What championship you playing for next week? What chance do you have of playing in a BCS bowl game. Think the answer to both those questions is NONE. Nice win, you beat us, but get REAL!

Wommack shouldn’t even be allowed to clean out his own office, just have some of the alleged D1 scholarship players on the alleged GT defense do it so they can at least make some positive contribution in return for their free education.

As a full-blooded GT faithful and ‘07 grad, I still support CPJ 100%. His play calling at the end was gutsy and it failed this time. However, he has the background to justify it. The distance b/t genius and insanity is measured only by success. If any of those bombs get hauled in for 6 and the ensuing XPA is good, he would be hailed once again as a genius of CFB.

What are everyone’s thoughts on Wommack and his defensive reactions(or lack thereof) to UGA’s rush?

JDM i would have to agree with you in that we still love CPJ and think he is a genius but why would you want to score that quickly and leave time on the clock with a kicker like Walsh for Georgia on the sideline. Try a bomb once per series of downs try it once get another first and then try it again you still have 2 timeouts to work with?????????

Only an ACC team can brag like that despite being the 2nd best team in the state (3rd once GSU starts playing next year). If you were in the SEC…oh, that’s right, you were, and PULLED OUT!!

@mwb: I absolutely agree with you. Personally, I wouldn’t be launching rockets like that with 1:30 to go and at least a timeout to spare. I say pitch to Allen and let him own the sidelines. As I’ve posted elsewhere, if you do that you can time it right when you step out and get free 15 yard additions with the awful officiating these days.

Then again, I don’t have the stellar coaching background like CPJ does. I have faith in what some call his madness. 10-2 and championship bound. With a better DC we can go even further. Ramble on!

Helluvanengineer,

Dude, don’t even talk about how bad we are right now. The only reason this is being rubbed in your faces is because we put up with it for a year on the Georgia blog. If you guys can’t handle getting ripped back, you should never have started the battle.

SEC won the day…no doubt about that. Tech’s issues on defense caught up with them. It was bound to happen. Richt was smart enough to wear out our defense before we wore out his, which is what has been happening in prior games. But, he did allow Tech their chance in the end; but, fortune wasn’t with them on this night.

As for the final set of downs…Nesbitt to Thomas with man-on-man was money in the bank! When the opponent tightens up to control the option, Johnson goes long with man-to-man coverage and it has worked all season (Tech leads the nation in long balls, after all.) Fly in the ointment: Nesbitt was hurt just enough that he was not perfect on either of two passes that could have won the game. The pass to Thomas in the end zone was just plain bad (he gave Nesbitt a WTF look afterwards)…BUT Thomas was open and would have sucked it in otherwise. Also, Allen had Reshod Jones beat on the post pattern on third down. The ball drifted in on Allen and he had to adjust just enough to allow Jones to ‘break it up.’ Otherwise, it would have been a completion and Jones would likely have once again been the donkey. Again, I have seen Nesbitt nail that pass too many times…something was (slightly) amiss and one has to guess it was his leg/ankle.

The season is not over, folks. Tech will likely beat Clemson in the ACC championship and then may have another shot at an SEC team. It will be interesting to see what happens. A couple of breaks in their favor…and maybe Tech can make a game of it…unless it is Florida, in which case they will probably get trounced. Sad…but true.

And, by the way…folks…football IS JUST a game. It is meant to be enjoyed…win or lose. It is certainly not worth sacrificing our civility over.

If any of you are a Tech Men, you are expected to deport yourself with a level of composure and civility worthy of that institution. If you did not go to Tech, then I have no right to an opinion and certainly would not attempt to hold you to such a high standard.

How can any of us GT fans feel good about this year? Come on coaches, the one game you should be prepared for and expect to win is against the obnoxious Georgia team and fans. You blew it. You let Mike Bobo and Willie martinez out coach you. You displayed no urgency in time clock management, you threw the ball down the field errant at best. Football is a game of preparation and adjustment and the Tech coaches failed. Now we have to listen for another whole year from the obnoxious, but winning, bulldog nation. And for this we gave Johnson an extension? Don’t give me the crap about playing in the ACC Title game, who gives a rat’s fanny? Just beat Georgia!

Hey Lex Luther: You sacrificed your civility when you began making excuses for losing to GA in a game where you were clearly beaten. You want to keep civility – don’t act like you should have won when you should not have won. That is just not honest to make excuses for losing on the final drive. You act as if you “lost” the game and GA didn’t “win” the game. Well, GA won – look at the stats including the points and it is clear that GA won the game, has the better team and will dang well brag about it for 364 days! You want to be civil – shut your trap or simply admit you got beat!

BTW Lex Luther: You think that just because someone does not have a degree in engineering, he can’t have an opinion? Who died and left you in charge of all the people in what was supposed to be a free country? Have no right to an opinion? HAVE NO RIGHT TO AN OPINION? Gosh man. Are you that arrogant or just stupid? You have fans all over the state and the US in fact and they didn’t graduate from Tech so they can’t have an opinion? Trust me, some really good fans have opinions who DON’T have degrees at GT. And you are trying to teach the state of GA about civility? Get some and then you can share. Otherwise, shut up. You got beat. Deal with it!

ACC teams play a weak schedule compared to SEC teams and it bites them in the ass. S.C. and UGa – two middle of the SEC teams just beat each division’s leader in the ACC. Boy does that take the luster off the “championship” game!!!

UGA’s season depended on beating GT and saving the Coaches job. GT’s season is still ahead for Championship and Bowl games. Yes GT should have been more into the games because they did stink it up but UGA played their best game of the year. Credit to Richt and his dawgs.
Coach Johnson will not take UGA lighty again. Johnson is still my coach and GT is my team, SORRY we didn’t bring our best effort to play.

Great effort UGA & win.
Now GT win that Championship for your fans and the State of GA.

Boneheaded play calling on the last drive. 3 long incomplete passes setting up 4 and 10. Not very bright and not Tech’s style. The Defense was absolutely putrid. To all you H.S. Seniors considering coming to Tech. If you want to start immediately as a freshmen there is plenty of room on Tech’s D.
Other than Derrick Morgan and Morgan Burnett this defense sucks. As bad as I hate to admit it, hats off to the mangy mutts. They wanted worse than the jackets. Bitter pill to swallow. Regardless of CJP trying to down play the lose to Ugag. Losing to them ruined a magical season in the majority of the fans eyes. We don’t scream to hell with Georgia for nothing.

Georgia played a great game last night – they played tough and aggressive football and deserved to win the game. But Tech has still had a great year, and the game against Clemson should be a good one. Our weakness all year has been the defense, we need a lot of work there!

JDM…agree questionable passing at end, but CPJ is a gambler. Can’t win them all. Your D line got blasted which forced Womack to line up 8 and 9 in the box which meant one hole and a long gain was there due to no safety depth. GT needs more size in the middle. Also, UGA DTs were shooting through the center of the Tech line all night…need to get that fixed before Clemson and bowl game. As usual, poor kickoff coverage and missed tackles by UGA helped keep the game close. All in all a great game to watch…and it came down to the wire. Hated to see the kid drop the ball on 4th down…hope he can shake it mentally.
