St. Simons Daddy,

Your program is talked about all over the air. It has slipped so far that it gets time in the national media as being the poster child for how a team can slip into a mediocre state from one that some pollsters mistakingly thought was among the elite in the nation at the start of the 2008 season. Most observers who know college football never saw your program as being elite except for the Herschel Walker years when they were, in most people's minds, the best program in the country for at least 2 of his 3 years.

The truth is, UGA has only won 2 SEC Championships in 26 years and even before Herschel UGA was 2 Championships ahead of Georgia Tech (who exited the conference with more total SEC Championships than UGA at that time-5 vs. 4). Even prior to Herschel Bulldog fans had an attitude that it was an elite program even though Ole Miss had one fewer total Conference Championships. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SEC_Conference_Champions#Football )

Sorry to break the news SSD but UGA is a one-hit wonder and is far from being an elite football program. Good luck against Tech in a couple of weeks. You'll need it, while you may not like it...you know it.

St Simons Daddy you are an idiot. The pups got lucky against Auburn. If it weren't for a few lucky catches and Rambo's hit Auburn would have either won or tied the game up to send it to overtime. BTW 45-42 last year in year one of what is going to be a long streak of wins under CPJ. TGWG!!!!

To Old Timer you are absolutely correct. I am a young person as well but I agree that Tech still isn't playing as good as they should be.

I'm loving it that in each and every techies heart of hearts they KNOW that they are, and will always be, the number 2 team in the state of Georgia in the vast majority of football fans eyes. Just the facts, you can't even fill your tinker toy stadium when you are having a good year. I'll take my free hot dog and coke with my ticket. LOL.

Joe Don Baker's twin is a excellent coach and able to work with limitations and get them to excel. I think the offense can be improved with improved passing potential, just enough to throw off the scent.. Defense.. We need a new coordinator.. I'm curious what would have happened with Tenuta.. The Prevent defense is not a valid defense.. I think we're doing well, and pull for Kentucky..

I am thankful that Coach Paul Johnson and the Georgia Tech football team continue to FOCUS ON THE TASK AT HAND which is now defeating the Georgia Bulldogs. I will be forever grateful for this fun season. There is something magic going on here!

Ga Tech Insider - I'll talk to you now, just in case you're too tired to read this later. It's apparent that you are relatively young (maybe immature is a better word) and don't remember the days when programs played 10 games straight then 11 before the current format of 12 games and a bye week. In high school ball, I played in 11 straight games many times with byes before the championship game. In college, I didn't play in any 12 game seasons because, as my handle indicates - I'm an old timer. We went through all the same summer drills and 2-a-days that everyone else did and does now. You and your wuss kind want to find excuses for poor performance on the field as you most likely do in your own daily life. I've supported the Tech program since the early 1950's with Bobby Dodd and his great teams and been a season ticket holder since before you were born. He continued the standard of excellence from the classroom to the field - his players were disciplined and played with their head and heart. The Tech faithful then loved coach Dodd much the way we've taken to coach Johnson now. However, when Tech went independent, hard times followed and the stock excuse was we couldn't recruit players who could compete in the classroom and be winners on the field because of the high academic standard. Coach Johnson has proved that excuse worthless and ingrates like you want to keep falling back on it so when something bad happens you don't have to look fact up to the facts. Yes, Tech is a difficult school academically and I didn't play for Tech but that is and should never be an excuse. You talk about all we've been through with traveling to 5 different states and injuries - what a joke. Injuries are a part of the game and every team has them not just our guys. And,the last time I checked, all those "far away places" we had to go - we flew and all were about a 2 hour flight - with the players sitting down resting as they flew.

You must really be stupid to interpret my previous comments as to not be proud and thankful for what we've accomplished in our 10 - 1 season. I think we can do much better and so does Coach Johnson - if you'll take time to read his comments - if you can comprehend them. They are pretty much spot on to what I said in my previous post. He doesn't put up with poor performance and when he says something about it everyone applauds - however, when I say the same thing - jerks like you (wannabe fair weather Tech fans)come out of the woodwork. I'll give Tech one, and only one, game poor performance based on being tired and that was at Miami. Beyond that game, sorry but tired doesn't cut it.

By the way, I found that "some other place to shake my pom poms" - bend over. What Tech doesn't need is bleeding heart excuse makers like you saying how wonderful things are at 10 - 1 without giving any thought about how we got there or how we'll proceed if we don't correct certain aspects of our game.

We clinch the acc coastal, and the dogs eek out a win over an unranked auburn team and who gets cover story online? The dogs of course. This town is so enamored with UGA that they don't want to recognize anyone else. So here it is, the dogs suck, take first place in the media, take your butt whippin' next week and take first place in the media again explaining why you got hammered.
