Can someone please explain to me why the Falcons very rarely throw a slant pass across the middle on third and short? Even the Redskins successfully did it all day long on the Atlanta defense. Jerry Rice and Joe Montana in San Francisco made their living off timed slant pass patterns back in the day. Why not now?????

And OH…by the way…the GA Dome is WAY TOO QUIET THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE GAME. What is it with the Atlanta fans? You only hear them on the third down defensive plays…what about all the other defensive downs?????

The good part of the defense is that Michael Turner got his mojo back. But that’s because that we had an outside running threat to try to fill the gap that Norwood left due to injury. We still need Norwood, though.

But I have to say this: There were only 6 passes to wideouts this game. Matt Ryan is starting to use his TE as a crutch. He needs to spread that ball around better- including taking one or two downfield.

Personally, I think Matt Ryan played a mediocre game, at best. He needs to step his game up or we will lose against a better opponent.

On defense, Babineaux played a strong game on the interior. Our D-line issues are fixed. And Chris Houston played strong, as well. Overall, the defense was pretty good.

But someone needs to call out the Falcons’ Strength and Conditioning Coach. Our defense was gassed. They need more in the tank. If they didn’t get tired, they could have done much better.

Play calling mediocre at best. Two end arounds in first half and neither worked. cmon.. Pass plays taking too long to develop resulting in sacks (ask Bartkowski same ol Falcons) Going away from what works let the skins back in the game..

What was disturbing to me was that the first half we dominated both sides of the ball, but coming out of the half-time show, we were terrible on Defense! It took almost the whole 3rd Quarter to get back to the first half speed.

I understand a win is a win, but where was the halftime adjustment? I realize it was the Redskins, but the moral of my complaint is we cannot do this against NO or even in the playoffs. You have to finish the drill. Poor coaching by BVG?

On a positive note, great to see Turner move through a decent defense. Matt, you need to get that calm feeling back. Happy feet can’t move us down the field.

Overall, good win and something to build on!

Go Falcons! We had a great start on yesterday but something seems to happen to you guys in the 3rd quarter? There was no way the Skins should have come back on us. The defense need to step up their game tremendously. I am glad that Turner has started the run game again, they expect us the middle though. The next game against the Panthers will be tough because they are hungry for a win so mistakes on both sides can not be done…. See you in Carolina.

Overall it’s good to get a win. The Falcons still get too content with a lead and seem to lose their edge. The Redskins stink so this is nothing to be happy about we should have won. But right now I’m not impressed with Matt Ryan. This year his play is like that of a rookie. I hope he gets his mojo back soon, cause at some point he will have to win a game for the Birds. Shout out to Turner the Burner, nice to see you running hard again. The defense is improving and playing hard, hopefully that will continue.
