Outstanding game. This is the kind of game we would have lost two years ago … and three years ago … and four years ago …

These kids better stop reading their press clippings. They had way too many penalties and almost gave away the season for doing stupid stuff most of the night. The positive is they found a way to win despite having such a rough night.

Something needs to change on the defensive side of the ball. Mr. Womack needs to start finding ways to get more pressure or his seat gets really hot.

Well, Skinner did not get a million, be he got enough to scare the @#$%^ out of me for a while.
D held when needed again. Wow what a third quarter…and CPJ played to win! What a Coach!

Most happy guy for that call…..Blair.

Gonna be funny when a terrible UGA derails Tech’s “magical” season.

As an ‘85 graduate of GaTech, it is a nice change to see the Jackets win in OT and coverage nationwide (I was watching in the Northwest). I have seen the Jackets crash and burn in national TV in the last 17 years (and lived through the not so good times in the 80s. They are real and they will move up in the rankings. What a difference Paul Johnson has made. Go Jackets!

cltgtfan — I think if you look at the defense, you will see they are banged up with plenty of injuries. That is part of the battle. But they found a way to win.

Bubba , The defense SUCKED! We have NO defense! We are NOT a legitimate top 10 team because we have NO defense,,,, we were very lucky to win this game.

This is a wake up call for us and shows that we still have a lot of work to do before we take on the dawgs the ACC game et all. We’re lucky lady luck was on our side today. Congrats to Dwyer onr his career best 189 yds. Nesbitt played another gutsy game. Please don’t let the Duke game be this close.

Contrary to the comments above, our defense actually played a pretty good game.

Our offense really didn’t play well at all. Dwyer certainly had a great game, but Nesbitt and the receivers were not in sync most of the night and it really hurt. For Nesbitt and Bedford to have a fumbled snap on a key fourth and one is really inexcusable at this point in the season. For this offense to work, it has to be executed consistently and that was missing big time tonight.

Tech is very lucky to have won the game and better get their heads screwed on straight or Duke and Georgia will quickly remind us that teams that continue to make errors pay with losses.

Where was Womack and the defense?? Looked like we just gave the ball to Wake and told them to walk it down field, take the 7 points and the refs just ran some time off the clock. Except for that OT stand, defense..wasn’t on the field.

This is the first Tech game I’ve watched all season and I was very surprised at how well Wake Forest played. They seriously could have won that game and almost did. I’m sure it was an exciting game for Tech fans but they should be thankful they walked out of there with a win.

Bedford snapped the ball onto his right leg. Nesbitt never had a chance at it. 2nd time it’s happened this year.

I was very disappointed with my Tech recievers. We are going to play 2 more teams that are fast enough to shut down the outside pitch. But they will leave a reciever free or one-one one to shut us down. The recievers must think that ball into their possession, AND concentrate that ball into their breadbasket to protect it from the initial hack or blow.
I am very disappointed with the kicking game all year, and I think there is someone on campus that can kickoff to or thru the end zone Coaching/training on special teams must get to work.
Finally, I am disappointed in the AJC mouthpiece that mentioned BCS Bowl and Tech in the same sentence. BCS teams have excellent Special Team play, and they don’t drop ball after ball after ball. That said, they have played good as a TEAM, and a well coached, poised to beat the Dawgs. But the jewel is the ACC crown, and I look foreward to Coach Johnson commenting on how he can get us there. GO TECH

Well, kickoff coverage was decent for a change. Scott Blair didn’t have to make any tackles. Plus, he kicked a 45 yard FG, something I never thought I’d see.

If hadnt been for wake forest 12th player–the refs, game would have been over in 2nd period. Wake Forest coach should send a bouquet to the refs for trying to help them. # crack back penaltys? When have you even seen one called? Then the Stephen Hill call back–come on refs!!! And at the end hated to call the intentinal grounding.

G.P.Burdell Chem74, you said one outstanding thing: Tech probably has some student, somewhere, who can kick the ball strong enough to put it in the endzone on kickoffs. E.O. Wheeler, where are you when we need you?

Tech always has and continues to make empty headed mistakes and the officials will ALWAYS look for ways to stop them. Some things NEVER change.

And………..they STILL win.

I was THERE and I gotta say THE REFS SUCKED…Go ahead and fine me $30k…THEY TRIED to give this game to WF! I’ll watch the Tivo of the game, but every time we needed or had a big play in the 1st half, the REFS bailed out Grobe…Of course our receivers acted like they were drugged or something because they didn’t catch half the balls thrown right to them and the other half they didn’t even turn around to see the ball…Maybe it just looked worse from the stands, but it looked pretty bad in the 1st half.

We should’ve stomped them into the ground and gone into halftime with about a 3 TD lead. But WF did come to play and Skinner was throwing these 5-10 yd dumps off from sideline to sideline and moving the ball well. I swear I thought the WF running back had 100+ yds, but I think they ended up with LESS THAN 50 yds total rushing. That’s where the D shined, along with Morgan’s 3 sacks in the 2nd half.

GREAT GAME to go to and you missed out if you weren’t there! BDS is truly a DIFFERENT PLACE to see a FB game since Chandler Gailey was run out of town! Also, the twin jet flyover at the start of the game WAS THE LOWEST I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! It was more like a TopGun Fly-By than a traditional flyover. Those guys must’ve been about 200 feet off the ground when they came over and my left ear is STILL RINGING! Awesome start to another Awesome game at BDS…2 GREAT ones in a row now!!!!

Oh, gotta LOVE how they immediately COLLAPSED the new North Goal Posts after the WIN…LOL!!!!

I agree with you CW… Our defense did what they could do. We all know that they’re not gonna be lights out, but they just need to do alright and get the important stops. Everybody knows that the team lies in the hands of the offense, and I think they’re the ones who let this game go so close (the refs didn’t help either).

It seemed like the penalties and errors in the passing game are really what killed the drives. We just need to survive next week and get nice and rested on our bye week and come back fired up ready to play UGA and the the ACCCG.

Michael, thanks for the link to the flyover…I watched 3 of them that have been posted & I still say they were way low compared to a “normal” flyover. It’s just a GREAT way to start a football game! Also saw this video about planning flyovers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFw1PgZfOg4

Gruden says, “I try to find out when we’re having those flyovers because if you don’t know, they can scare the hell out of ya!” LOL and so true!! Lots of variety in that video…A-10 Thunderbolts…B-52s…F-15 Eagles…B-2 Bombers…Blackhawks…Nice 4-1/2 min video.

Was glad my boys got to see the one today, even though it scared the crap out of em…They were disappointed that the parachute jump onto the field before the VT game was cancelled due to wind/weather…This made up for it!

Yes Tech had issues last night. But we overcame them and WON. Even with the Wake “refs”, the “penalties” and the miscues. Great teams find a way to win and a Great Coach like Paul Johnson leads them. Now all you fakes go back to the ugag blog and post about your 5-5 record and your win against the school for the blind yesterday. GO JACKETS!! THWG!!

We were in nosebleed – and we could read everything printed on both planes……those guys were at full flaps, and full throttle ready for the tail hook….no more than 200 feet from the ground. What a treat.

Without a doubt the BALLS OUT end of the game play….I’ve never seen that in all my life. I’ve never seen a coach or a team so calm and focused on the moment either….What a game…what a “life” statement!

We have something very special going on the Flats…been a long time coming…and just gets better and better…Wow!

There are actually Georgia fans posting to this site regarding the quality of Wake Forest as an opponent for Georgia Tech today. Didn’t UGA play Tennessee Tech today? LOL! It’s very likely that the Demon Deacons would’ve whipped your a$$es in Athens yesterday. Be thankful that your AD didn’t schedule Virginia Tech for your Homecoming as ours did for us.

What a change having a coach like Paul Johnson making those decisions to go for it and win the game in overtime as opposed to playing for a field goal to tie and continuing the OT. Defense played well and Wake was unable to run the ball. Just need to clean up the penalties and go play Duke for the Coastal Division Lead.

After yesterday’s game, the Yellow Jackets have a larger margin of victory than Florida against both Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. There are still two common opponents remaining (UGA and FSU), but right now the Jackets have a pretty good chance of claiming the title of SEC East Champion!

Every team in FBS needs a bit of luck once or twice during the season (think Colorado1990). The
team did what quality teams need to do – make the big play or stop the big play when needed. All you
Dawg fans need to recognize that the jackets are a better team this year and probably next year if the Jr’s come back. Great win Jacket nation. We should celebrate and move on to Duke next.

We won a good game. The team is good and so is our coach. The only mistake we could make is to be over-confident. There are a lot of good teams and on a given day …….. Be humble and play hard and smart.

What I don’t understand is when a top SEC team like Bama stumbles against UT or an LSU team win by an inch against Miss. State it’s regarded as the SEC beating up on each other. Tech beats an underrated Wake Forest team that gave Miami all it wanted the week before with one of the top rated Senior QB’s in the country not to long removed from an Orange Bowl appearance himself… Tech gets the overrated chant. A win is a win … one a few years ago we wouldn’t have won. Go Jackets you’ve earned it
