How would you rate Georgia’s football helmets?

The Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday wore black helmets for the first time in their history. They were in sharp contrast to the Vince Dooley inspired red helmets the team has worn since 1964. How did the look compare with other past Bulldog hats?

From 1952 to 1963 the Bulldogs wore silver helmets, which like is predecessors featured numbers on the neck line. (NCAA)

I’m not understanding why media types have been ripping UGA since last year’s Alabama game in regards to new uniform schemes, when EVERY single program in the nation (ok, maybe not Bama) does it all the time? Black is apart of UGA’s colors, I mean, hello, red and black!?!?! It’s not as though they’re incorporating colors that have nothing to do with the team colors, say like Tenn. for instance. So why do the talking heads insist on pretending UGA is the only team in the country that changes things up????

Although the uniform combination on Saturday left something to be desired, I like the Black helmets/red facemasks. The uniform had NOTHING to do with what happened on the field. The coaching is just bad.

I am not a “huge” GA fan. But, lost the white stripe and the red face mask, and let it be black all over. Black Tops and Bottoms with Black cleats w/black laces. I would love that look.

But First,

Fire the def. coord. Fire the off. coord.

A really, really, really, REALLY ugly uniform was Tenn’s black tops. Maybe they did it because it was Halloween.

I thought the helmets and pants were just a Halloween thing, kinda like the Tennessee jersies.

I didn’t think they had anything to do with shaking things up.

I worry about a Dawg team that uses (needs?) gimmicks to play Florida. Will we get matching handbags and shoes next year?

All these people are upset because we lost in a black helmet. We would have lost in a Patriots helmet or a Colts helmet. It’s not the uniform … it’s the team.

All of you knew that the uniforms were pretty damn fly … it was the outcome that made them look bad. You can’t blame 4 interceptions on a black helmet. You can’t blame idiotic defensive playcalling. Everyone, their mother, grandmother, and deceased Patriarch knew that Tebow was running on every 3rd and short.

They need to continue w/black uniforms/helmets because no player on that team deserves to wear the red helmets or silver britches! They have no heart and they play like it. CMR needs to focus on coaching and not so worried about fashion. Cox is terrible, coordinators suck. the 2 best players on the team are a punter and wide receiver. The reason they r so good is u can’t really screw that up with coaching-play Murray, if he can’t get it done we need to look elsewhere!!

This is about the uniforms NOT THE PLAY!!!
I’m all about tradition but I like to changed itup once or twice a season. The Black helmets, black pants and road whute jerseys are great! It had that old school feel to it. I like the dfferent color schedmes that are going on. The colors of UGA are Red, Black and Silver/White. I’m all for changing it up especially for Florida and Bowl Games. At Sanford it should red hats, red/black shirts and silver britches period. Outside of Sanford I can go for the different looks. Heck I’m waiting on the red pants to come back. haven’t seen those since Greg Talley was the QB. Playing with the color schedmes are great and it ALWAYS takes time to grow on people especially the loyal traditionlist but remember the red hats didn’t come in until 1964 so the hats haven’t always been red.

As far as it being a gimmick, I don’t buy into all of that (minus the first time the balck shirts came out in ‘07) The red, black, silver/white color schemes have so many options because those colors go so swell together. get over it loyal traditonlist.

Stop spending so much time on how we look and more time on how we play. We looked pretty pathetic on the playing side of things if you ask me. Stick to tradition and screw the black.

Puppies might try “droopy pants,” like their “fans” wear to work. Silver would be nice. Origin of the style? Prison invitation to those who would care to dominate. A good fit. No pun intended. Haw!

Florida has worn the same helmet for years. Quit the gimmicks. Good coaching, discipline, and doing the basics well (blocking, tackling, no penalties, no turnovers)is what wins football games. This coaching staff is a joke.

I really hope you guys have some kind of fancy uniforms or a blackout when you play us. You coaches time would be better spent getting a game plan together. I’m not a bulldog hater, but your team is becoming a joke.

Those of you that think UGA should wear anything black are not UGA fans. Please go back to playing video games. You are masquerading as a UGA fan but you are not.

UGA has some of the best looking uniforms in CFB and you retards want to change them. Idiotic, unnecessary, and just downright ugly.

The red helmet that Coach Dooley gave us should never be tampered with again. It is perfect just the way it is; it is our “IDENTITY.” At home, the black jersey that Coach Richt gave us balances our color scheme perfectly. You know, red and BLACK? The revival of the REAL silver britches that Coach Butts gave us completes, what is to me, the absolutely perfect home uniform for the Dawgs to wear PERIOD. REAL silver britches look so much better with the black jersey than the red one.

On the road, you must wear a white jersey. The black numbers are perfect here, and would look good with REAL silver britches, but it seems as though we don’t have much luck getting REAL silver britches; therefore, pair up that black numbered white jersey with the red britches that Herschel Walker gave us. That makes for the perfect road uniform!
