We heard NBC’s Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth go on and on about what a great QB Chicago’s Jay Cutler is Sunday night.
We listened to Collinsworth say, straight up, in his pre-game comments about the Falcons, “I just don’t think they’re that good.”
We keep hearing about how Falcons QB Matt Ryan is no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning at his position.
We say only this: The Falcons at this point are 4-1. Sunday night, Matt Ryan’s team won the football game. Jay Cutler’s team didn’t.
YOU TELL US: Are you Team Matt or Team Ain’t All That? State your case why you’re pro-MR2 or not sold yet on the kid.

Mat Ryan is not overated but I’ll tell you who is overated Vick is overated he never was a good passer he have a good strong arm but it takes more than a strong arm all he could do is run with the ballhe have more yards rushing than passing and the falcons still lost all Mat does is win so I,m glad mat is our QB.

Actually I’ve always kind of liked CC’worth; he will admit when he is wrong, which he frequently has to do, being a Bengals shill. Bottom line is best proof of a team & player is same as the best promotion: winning! As long as they protect MR2 & give him some weapons on field, & play solid D, they’ll win. This is the yr they get the never-back-to-back winning seasons monkey off their back!

CC always makes inane comments. Let’s keep flying under the radar. Being successful is not yet a deeply-ingrained habit for our birds so we don’t need any additional media expectations putting extra pressure on the team or our young and talented QB with all the comparisons. Matt Ryan is doing great, he’s getting the job done, and that’s all that matters.

i am so sick of hearing tom brady this and that. ryan may not be quite as good as brady in his prime but matty ice is a second year quarterback with even as good as he is has a tremendous upside. if we tried we could throw the ball more, thus giving him great stats. but this game isn’t about stats. it is about wins. if we were up by 45 at half matty better be sitting on his ice on the sideline. im just tired of the lack of respect that any team ever gets from the south, we can never be as good as anyone else. well guess what, they better be looking in the rear view mirror because objects are larger than they appear.falcons fly high and fear nothing.ltrebemt@yahoo.com

All I know is Tony Dungy sees a lot of Peyton Manning in Matt Ryan. A winning Super Bowl coach or a douchebag WR who thinks he’s Howard Cosell – gee, who should I listen to?

I made my first trip to New Orleans several weeks ago. WOW!! Who dat ever thought that arm pit was a cool place? I got drunk, ate oysters, and got flashed withing 6 hrs of being there. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LEFT TO DO!!! I was stuck there for 3 more days. Love the sanitation. I love the Saints fans on here talking junk. They know in their hearts that all that offense has no backbone. Our Falcons win by playing tough, fundamental football. Our running game is solid and our defense brings alot of effort. Matt Ryan is smart and manages the game. Our team will be good for a long time. Can the Saints say the same? Enough trash talking, let’s focus on Dallas then we can cure the aint’s.

If anyone listens to Cris Collingsworth then they are mentally unstable. He is a bandwagon person and can’t make a decision for himself. The Falcons are real team and Matt is the leader of a bunch of talented men. Matt is the real deal. Why would you compare Tom Brady to Matt Ryan? We are greatful that they are two different people with different levels of talent. Thank you Matt and the entire team.

Who the hell wrote this column? I have never heard ANYONE who covers the NFL say anything disparaging about Ryan or that he is overated.
“We keep hearing about how Falcons QB Matt Ryan is no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning at his position”. I have never heard anyone say anything like that and believe me I watch the NFL like nobodys business. Ryan is only in his second season and has started just 21 games so who in the hell would expect him to be peyton manning anyway? This is quite possibly the worst article ever written for the AJC. No wonder there is not a name assigned to this embarassing piece of crap.
For god sake 90% of the people who post on these sports blogs could write a better and more informative article than this one. Was the person who wrote this out all night drunk and only had 5 minutes before the deadline? I sure hope that is the case because otherwise they need to be cleaning bathrooms.

Guessing that AJC took an isolated comment from CCworth & blew it up for the sake of argument, and it’s working. Watched the game & most of pre-game Sunday and didn’t hear anything different from the usual pre-game drivel by the crew. But Dungy couldn’t praise MR2 enough; dissected the TD to Gonzo to demonstrate the qb’s mastery of nuance in completing the play. Gave him big UPS!

Who cares what someone else says – just do your job and show results – the non-believers suddenly “discover” Matty Ice. I hope they continue to trash talk the Falcons…so much the better.
The Birds are really improved. Watch was happens to “Romeo” in Dallas- there will be no Julliet waiting. I don’t care if we win by one or 50, a win is a win.
Good coach…good solid playoff team. If we lose – so what – we won’t lose many.

Most of the people who write these blogs should be in the shrinks chair at 9 o’clock on monday morning. All I can say about “Matty Ice” is from all the qbs that I have ever seen play: Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach, Johnny Unitas, Otto Graham, Fran Tarkenten, Steve Young, Joe Namath, Joe Montana, Dan Fouts, Dan Marino, John Elway, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady; did I miss any? MATTY ICE IS BETTER NOW THAN ANY OF THOSE and I believe they are all in the Hall of Fame. So where does that leave Ryan? In my opinion: that leaves Ryan surely headed for Canton when his playing days are finished. God Bless You!

Matt Ryan is no Tom Brady . . . yet.
Collinsworth’s Bear love was unmistakable during the broadcast, especially on replays of Pace tackling Abraham. Instead of calling it the holding that it was, he praised Pace for his “domination.”

From what Tony Dungy said during pre-game that he has “Manning-like” qualities and what Gonzalez said as well during kickoff that Matt Ryan prepares the most out of anyone on the team and he may not say he wants to be the greatest but you can tell he does. These are two highly respectable people in the NFL spotlight and why even compare Matt to Tom or Peyton? He’s at a different stage in his career than those two and he is already getting praise like he is on that level. That tells how much respect he is getting from fans around the NFL and players as well

The issue of won/loss record in the NFC South is somewhat legitimate. The Falcons can’t afford to fall behind. They’re battling not just for Division crown, but also a Wild Card position. Have to like their chances though, after 5 games…

Matt Ryan is the quarterback that will one day lead this Falcons team to a Championship. He is a very solid game manager in much the same way Joe Montana was, Montana never wowed you but he could beat you with his arm in the blink of an eye. I think Matt Ryan is cut out of that very same cloth in that he studies the playbook very well and and very deliberately and he has the receivers around him in Roddy and Jenkins to make plays down the field and with Gonzalez in the mix he’s even more dangerous. The Falcons are a step or two or a missed running lane or two from having that same rushing game from a year ago with Turner, if that gets cranked up opponents better look out we may just be in Miami in early February.

I live in Colorado, so I know all about Jay Cutler. I have never been impressed by him. Yes he has a cannon, but He does not think before he throws. He is just a gun-slinger. Yes he will win a game here and there, but he has never gotten a team to the playoffs let alone a championship. Cutler is alot like Jeff George. He can trow the ball, but he can not lead a team.
Matt Ryan has a great arm, but he thinks before he throws. Matt is a leader and commands the players around him to play at a high level every down. His team mates respect him and will protect him as best as they can on each down. Is Matt Ryan the next Brady or Manning? No. He is Matt Ryan. Someday you will hear people say, “That kid is the next Matt Rayn.”

No he isn’t overrated. He hasn’t won the “big Game” yet.He didn’t win a championship in college, and he hasn’t beat anyone he’s supposed to beat thus far in his pro career (playoffs) Remember how Peyton hadn’t won the “big game” Remember?
