Congratulations to the Yellow Jackets!!! Paul Johnson is a genius at figuring out what the other team is doing, and how to defeat it. Second half offensive execution was outstanding, especially after all those non-characteristic penalties in the first half. Gotta hand it to the coach for settling them down and sticking to the plan, ball control offense in the 2nd half. I was about to come unglued when we passed the ball on first down with 4 minutes to play, but the toss to Anthony Allen for 23 yards that followed reminded me that Johnson knows what he’s doing. Kudos to the defense’s first half performance, and you can’t really fault them (I blame the coaches) for the ‘prevent’ mode that allowed the late touchdown by the Hokies/Turkeys, who will still likely be ranked higher than the Jackets in the BCS and other polls. Oh well. Now we just need Miami to lose, somehow. Is the Jeff Schultz jinx broken? Seems the bandwagon was stout enough to carry his arse this time;-)

Great games Hokies. You are a worthy opponent.

Good game jackets! I loved it. I should’ve waited around for a piece of the gold post, but what a game.

VT played a good second half. I’m glad we got a quality win against a quality team. I’m also glad I was standing on the grass of Grant Field when the posts came down… I got a piece of the turf in my pocket… GO JACKETS!

@ LIL JOHN I take serious offense to being called a terrorist. I personally work on U.S. defense projects that help our soldiers and protect our citizens everyday (and I’m only a 2nd year undergrad). Don’t ask me what because I can’t tell you anyway. I wonder what you were doing at UGA when you were 19. I’m not sure what they do for our country’s defense. Probably not much I would guess. Oh by the way, I bench 205, not too shabby for a techie. I’ll enjoy watching Tech beat ya’ll again this year.

Kick coverage has got to improve. Jon, I want you to listen very carefully, take that big pseudo-macho UGA personality and go try and run over a 18 wheeler on 75. It’s fans like you that makes UGA’s fanbase one of the most hated and laughed at around. I guess it’s true that you can pay for school but you can’t buy class.

I have never and will never write a 500 word essay and post it on a Ugag blog. This must really bee killing you. Maybe you can extra credit in “Rightin’ Class”

Jackets made awesome adjustments and manned up. Outstanding effort by the defense and execution by the offense. This team knows how to salt a game away. When we figure out kick coverage, we will really be dangerous.

Yes, there were probably 250-500 available seats in the upper northeast section of the endzone, but that is a far cry from the 2,000-5,000 empty seats in Athens last year. I had a good view from the sold out Tech section in the 600 level. Try the hotdog promotions, they seem to work, but corndogs may have more pull in Athens.

I truly enjoyed Big Jon’s piece….not sure what he has been sniffing but…it is fun to have the enemy taking pot shots…it proves that the rivalry is back (for both sides). Big Jon’s (little brain’s) ranting is proof that Georgia fans realize their dominance of the college football scene in Georgia is slipping. Great win Jackets!. PJ may be the best coach in the nation at making halftime adjustments. The offense looked like a different team in the second half. Take care of business in Charlottesville!

My parents went – and left me to the car radio in our garage – to the 1962 GT/Bama game. But even on radio – thank God for Al Ciraldo – the late TD by Bama and Naemeth and then the sub for one John Hurlbolt who came up short, had me honking the car horn over and over as tears of joy streamed down my 13 year-old cheeks. That game cemented my love of Tech (a 1971 grad). I couldn’t go to this one either, but those same tears were there as was the pride in being a Jacket. Thank you, CPJ – the best coach we’ve had since Coach Dodd. A class guy and the best halftime adjuster I’ve ever seen. And thank you D – YOU knew you could do it – now we all do.
On to UVA where Tech beat the #1 Cavs in the best road game in Tech’s history – and perhaps one of college football’s best-played, most exciting games ever. Oh, yeah – THWG!

I have a feeling “Big Jon” is really a disturbed Tech fan who doesn’t know how to handle the positive attention trying to make Georgia fans look worse by being negative. (I’ve been there before) I don’t think any real Georgia fan would waste their time commenting on an article about how good Tech is. Don’t take anything he said in that article seriously. Go Jackets!!

6-1. What an exciting football game. Jackets roll! It’s great to have a coach focused on winning.
Virginia Tech has a really good team. They are well-disciplined and hard-hitting, but “when the Jackets take the field, the option goes BOOM! Seven more on the board.”

“big jon” has serious wiener envy and probably has never set foot on any college campus. If he has, it was in janitorial mode. On a high note, is there any better half time coach than PJ. I mean, how many times have we seen him bring the team out in the second half and they shred the other guys on both sides of the ball. Ugay, FSU, VA Tech last night, Clemson – it is happening far too often to be coincidence. How about Nesbitt for Heisman and PJ for National Coach of the Year.

dacula jacket, that was the rantings of a typicl UGA fan. The WORST college football fans in the country! It’s kinda SAD to here those kind or rants……. Not really! Just typical.

Big Jon,
UGA – famous for the worst and most hated “fans” in college football. Not sure of how many really went to school there, but the fan-base is made up of a bunch of trailer trash. What kind of fan would s–t on there own campus or p–s on their own buildings (see the AJC article a couple of weeks ago)? I’ll tell you what kind, Big Jon, a bunch of in-bred, highschool drop-outs.

That was not the real POAD. I was at the game. Was there anyother place to be. The US Army Knight not jumping before the game because of the wind was really missed, but I understand. It was too dangerous. What a freaking great game. A little windy and cool but all way well in the end. I wish the students didn’t take down the goal posts, but they are kids.

I can’t believe – wait, no, I can. Big Jon’s racist rant should be erased from this blog. That kind of talk is just way out of bounds. I sat in the netherlands of Bobby Dodd last night (that wind was insane last night) next to a Pakistani family whose son goes to Tech, a three Korean students, a young freshmen from Colorado, and a handful of families with young children. There were also several Virginia Tech fans seated around me. Everyone got along. Everyone had a good time. Everyone was respectful of each other. Doubt you will ever see that at Stanford Stadium. I’ve been to my share of games in Athens and they were always ruined by some jerk or another showing his a$$. I would never take my son to a game in any SEC stadium for that reason. What a bunch of rednecks. Big Jon, you represent everything wrong with UGA fans and SEC fans. I have met my share of good folks from UGA and from around the SEC (LSU included, haha), but, by-in-large, I see more jerks misrepresenting those schools than I see in any other venue. It only takes a few and both UGA and the SEC has its share of really loud, obnoxious fans. Crawl back under your rock.

Well, I had to go to a boring a** wedding last night in Huntsville (from Atlanta), so I had to TiVo the game, and I watched it today. WOW!!!!!! I wasn’t really sure if we could beat them considering we gave up so much yardage to FSU last week. But I give Kudos to the D, they manned up, with the exception of the prevent look in the second half, but other than that, if our D can play like that for the rest of the season, we got a good should of doing something spectacular this year. However…..

First, we have to beat Virgina in Charlotesville, which we haven’t done since 1990; but I do think we can get it done, since we FINALLY beat FSU AT FSU this year, for the first time EVER!!
Then, we have to keep playing SOLID mistake free (as possible) football from here on out. Like PJ has said, “we haven’t won anything yet”. Also, considering that every time we beat a quality team, and get ranked in the Top 15, we shot ourselves in the foot the following game, and fall right back down to nothing.
So basically, all we did yeaterday, was just stay alive and keep ourselves in the hunt for the ACC title.
There’s still A LOT of football to be played, so let’s keep our heads and our cool in check for now. Sure to the victor goes the spoils, but you can’t get your spoils if you haven’t won anything yet…STAY HUMBLE AND HUNGRY!!!!!!!

Before this season is out Tech needs to make PJ the highest paid coach in the state. He is one of those rare coaches that just sense the flow of a game and knows how to swing it his way. He is just flat out coaching his opponents every weekend.

I think he has shifted his D to fit what he has to work with and the kids are responding. I’m convinced it wasn’t lack of talent just lack of depth for the system. As Tech continues to win he will get the top kids in and in numbers. Expect to see him mix it up more as this happens.

By the second half the Cavaliers will tire of swatting at the Bees with that useless sword. I’m thinking a high scoring game for Nesbitt and his Stingers. GO TECH!!
