How would you rate the Bulldogs’ season at the midway point?

Georgia’s football season reached halftime with a .500 record (3-3), the team’s worst record under Mark Richt’s nine years.

the team (other than butler & green) is a complete failure….. what happened to taking high school quarterbacks and making them defensive backs? At least they have some field sense.

In years past, as some of us real Dawg FANS were spit on by other so-called fans for calling out Richt and his assistants for sh1tty coaching, now you’re all jumping on the bandwagon because we’re 3-3?? The crappy coaching has been there for years, but Donnan’s players are gone and so are the NFL first-rounders. You’ve been blind, stupid and flat-out wrong. You’re welcome to give us an apology (which will never happen). A big f-off to all of you.

With the amount of money Richt is making, $ 2-3 Million dollars and a 3-3 record with 184 Points Surrendered I would have to say F. Florida and Tennessee are going to be fighting over the SEC East for several years to come. And to you people out there that think Florida is going to have a melt-down next year you are sorely mistaken.

Here are the main issues: 1) Richt cannot motivate his players (neither can his staff). He is motionlees and emotionless on the sidelines. 2) We getTop 5-10 recruits year-end and year-out and connot come through – after 9 YEARS under Richt – for even playing for a NC. 3) We pay Richt top DOLLAR and get little results other than average > above average seasons. 4) If you are going to coach at UGA – getting paid as much as you do – getting top recruits every single year – you’d better be playing for the NC every once and a while….PERIOD.

looking forward to #23 and #3 graduating, and hopefully #9 will go pro. Rambo, Smith and others will be much better and should be playing more now.

Bobby Bowden made the comment that when Richt was hired at Georgia that he didn’t know if Richt was “mean enough” to be a head coach. How right
he was with that statement.

Richt doesn’t have what it takes to get tough on players and coaches. He’s too nice of a guy, doesn’t want to hurt anynody’s feelings. You can’t do that as a head coach.

That’s why Orson Charles did his celebration after catching a first down pass against LSU and got a 15 yard penalty. He knows Richt won’t do anything to him.

That’s why Bobo and Martinez continue to come up with embarassing game plans week after week. There is no accountability from Richt. They are his buddies, he won’t say anything to them.

The whole team is his buddies, he won’t say anything to them after comitting 10-15 penalties per game.

Bobby Bowden may be senile, but he was right about Richt. He’s not mean enough to be a head coach.

Mark Richt will pull this team together before the end of the season. We should be pulling for him because of the success he has had. He is learning a valuable mistake (not replacing Willie at DC and putting a graduate assistant over the running backs).

How could this team be anything but awful when last year’s team with two first-round draft picks and the best receiver in college football can’t even win the division???? Are you stupid! – it’s the coaching. Richt and all you other UGA Homers buy into the AJC love-fest every single year and think that “THIS IS THE YEAR”. UGA has been slightly better than average since 1980. Look at the record and suck it up.

All you haters would give a left nut to have Coach Richt. He has had one bad season in 9 yrs and now people are talking trash about him. This season for UGA looks like at typical Georgia Tech season.

I’m not saying we need to get rid of Richt. He needs to toughen up and demand more of his coaches and players. If they can’t cut it, then get rid of them. I think it’s obvious Willie can’t cut it and the end of the season Richt needs to seriously consider a change.

Nick Saban would not put up with this kind of crap, that’s why Alabama is mentally tough and a very well disciplined team. Richt could learn from Saban.

Loyal,
No I wouldn’t hire them. And Bobo has 5 kids, Richt won’t cut him loose knowing that. Like I said earlier, Richt doesn’t have what it takes to make those tough decisions. But coaching at this level requires some tough decisions somtimes. If you can’t do that, then you have no business being a head coach.

My suggestion would be to put Bobo back as the QB coach and keep him.
Richt needs to go back to calling the plays and scrap this CEO type approach to coaching. That ony works when you have competent assistants.

Willie needs to be gone completely. I think we need to contact Van Gorder and see if there is anyway he would consider coming back. As in everything else, if the money is right he probably would.

I was disgusted with the Tenn. game as well. . . but calling for Richt’s head is stupid. I used to give Martinez the benefit of the doubt because the defense was solid in good years, but it’s at the point now where something has to happen with the DC position just to galvanize/stir up the program. Question will be, who are the names out there to consider for the DC job? I heard someone say Tuberville. . . .hum.

The real problem is there isn’t a “solution” for this season. The defense is what it is. There isn’t one “star” player on that side of the ball. I love Curran, but he’s not a star/game changer. He works his butt off and flys around the field, but he can’t change games the way Pollack did. And the secondary is in real trouble. . .evans. . .well. . . . i won’t say anything. .. B Rambo looks like he could be a player, but he’s young. Boykin and Smith are freshmen, and that’s an excuse for a little while, but there have to be signs that they’re learning something and improving. . jury’s out on that one.

offensively, we can’t run the ball and i don’t know if anyone knows why. We don’t have a dominate back, but we knew that coming into the season. The combination of average backs and underperforming OLine is killing us. . .and how do you fix that midway through the season? I wonder if Sturdivant is THAT important to us up front. .

This was a rebuilding year. Everyone knew that. What is a little worrying is not seeing much to “build” upon for next year so far.

Finger crossed for us for the rest of the season. . . I’m thinking 7-5.

I agree with Phil. Put Bobo back in charge of quarterbacks. Let’s get an OC who knows what he’s doing. Martinez needs to go completely. I doubt Van Gorder would come back, but it would be worth a shot. Also, what about Kirby Smart for DC? He might come if the money is right being an alumnus.

flagboy,
Tubberville would be a good choice. Kirby Smart(former UGA player) at Alabama would be a good choice. Will Muschamp at Texas(former UGA player) would also be a great choice but I think he is the “coach in waiting” there is no chance of him leaving. There are plenty others out there, but instead we are stuck with that buffoon Martinez.

I do not believe CMR should be fired. I think he is at a point where he either becomes a great SEC coach or ends up at a mid-level big 10 school. HE HAS to fire or demote CWM and CMB. Those two cannot run their respective teams. The offense is predictable and ineffective. The D has the aggressiveness of a poodle. We have the players. We just don’t have the the coaches to lead them. CMR can do it, but he has to cut ties with those who are holding him back. It also wouldn’t hurt to show some fire on the sidelines. But if that is not his style, then show the fire by cutting those who cannot get it done.

FIRE CWM and FIRE or DEMOTE CMB. They simply cannot get it done. If he doesn’t do that, then he will be coaching and competing with Ron Zook year after year at Iowa St.

If Richt ever goes, and right now I hope he doesn’t, then Chris Peterson from Boise State should be at the top of the list as far Head Coaches go. The only way Coach Richt should be shown the door is if he don’t do something about Willie.

I truly believe that if Coach Richt doesn not replace some coaches, especially Martinez, it is time for us to search for a new head coach and I truly love Mark for he is a good christian man and has done a lot in the community but enough is enough and Martinez needs to leave and just maybe Mark needs to kick some butt and I don’t mmean the players; his coaches are NOT getting the job done! I live in Pensacola and they are making it tough on Georgia fans!

CMR has been an above average coach but lets be honest here, he hasn’t done much of anything with the caliber of talent we have at UGA. UGA has a top ten recruiting class every year. I mean, we’re in it to win championships right?

I for one am sick and tired of giving up 70+ yards a game in penalties. I would like to see someone get pissed when we give up a personal foul. CMR shows absolutely no emotion, and he’s been unable to motivate his players.

If I were to pick a replacement for CMR, the first person I would call would be Coach Chris Peterson from Boise State. He obviously knows how to do a lot with a little. I believe he would great at a top notch school that has a good recruiting base.
