This loss rests squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. If Coach Richt replaces Joe Cox with Logan Gray then Georgia wins this one handily. Joe Cox was clearly off his game all day — the few points Georgia scored the receivers bailed him out big time. Bobo’s play calling was horrendous and way too conservative. The speacial teams still have not been taught how to cover a kick-off. The officiating is ruining the game — it’s no longer fun to watch when they make bad calls that unfairly take the game out of the player’s hands. It’s true — Coach Richt cares too much about loyalty — even if it means losing the game.

I could blame the refs for the loss but the tackling on the kick off and on the last run was horrible. It’s time to start looking at next year. Also, why haven’t Ealey played this year. He is clearly the best running back on the team.

The referees are getting way to flag happy. The excessive celebration penalties against both teams was uncalled for. Georgia’s defense did a great job except at the end. The offense was disappointing for the most part. Coaching…sucked.

Poor play calling, poor qb play. We have got to have a qb better than Cox if fact i think any of them on the bench can do better,Why will they not let someone else give it a try.We might not win another game if Cox plays like he did the first half. I think we may have found a running back.
. The defense played good but could not get a stop when they needed one. The refs have got to let the players decide the game. You cannot call such minor stuff at the end of games.That 15 yard celebration cost Ga the game. The defense kept them in the game the first half but willie needs to go.

Penalties coupled with STUPID mistakes and stupid coaches make for a losing team. The Dawgs will never, ever, win with CMR and his staff. Damon needs to start thinking about cleaning house and if he cannot make those tough decisions then perhaps he should go as well. Martinez and BoBo are absolutely terrible.

To all the Bobo bashers, is he all-world? No. Do I wonder what in the world he is doing at times? Yes. However, when you call two plays in the first two series that have your best receiver in a position to make a play, and your QB can’t get the ball to him, what are you supposed to call? Clearly, we are limited with Cox. The announcers keep talking about his inexperience. Instead of letting him get experience, so he’ll be ready by the bowl game, why don’t we let Gray or Murray get in there? We’re not winning anything this year anyway. We are pretty young on offense at the skill positions. Let’s not waste this much talent, and AJ’s last year next year, on breaking in another inexperienced QB.

The defense kept Georgia in the game today. Mark Richt has some Bobby Cox in him staying with Joe Cox when he’s having a bad day. Most of all, Georgia played a good game until it got down to the last 2 minutes when not being disciplined can hurt you and cost you the game. I dont think though that those were excessive penalties at all. The refs blew the calls. Its hard to run that far and cover a kick starting from your own 15. Refs suck.

Richt admitted one time that he was often mistaken in not playing certain players sooner. He said about Verron Haynes who didn’t get to do much till late in his college career. Haynes of the hobnail boot fame. He’s making the same mistake now by playing Cox, King and Samuel. Healy showed some spark then they took him out. They’ll be lucky to win again before Tenn Tech. Bobo has to be Gobo and Willie needs to get nillie and get out of town. Richt seems to be resting on his laurels and maybe not the best judge of talent–coaches or players.

The refs are no excuse! Good teams overcome those calls and stop LSU on four down. Good teams do that and we are not one. Blaming the refs won’t change the outcome but stopping LSU would have. No whining.

I knew when Cox got in a decent SEC game that he’d choke. Cox is a QB that should be playing at a school like Charleston Southern. At any other SEC school he’d be 3d string at best. So either he’s not being coached up to his potential (wow whata revelation for UGA football) or else he’s “just a good kid who the HC refuses to bench cause we’re loyal to him.” Which is it?

Don’t forget: BOBO is the QB coach…

With the slate of games we have this year, a two loss season would have to be considered a success. However, being only five games into the season and already having two losses (with who we have still play), I am starting to believe bowl eligibility (six wins) is going to be a goal at some point this year.

Not worried about penalties, LMAO. Poor coaching, poor tackling, sloppy play, poor play calling. All trademarks of the current coaching staff. Defense sucked in first half. If LSU’s offense wasn’t so bad the game would’ve been over at the half. Second half D played better, still you have to wonder if it was because LSU’s offense stinks. Crunch time, D crumbles. The only coach worse than CMR at managing a game has to be Les Miles.

CMR to loyal to marginal coaches and players. This is crazy, UGA will be luck to be in the top 30 after they lose to FL, Tech and Auburn.

I’m sick of this crap! Somebody has to do something, Bobo’s got to go, Martinez, has to go. If they don’t go then Richt has to go!

LSU D has been their strong side of the ball. Chavis is a good coach and Bobo had a big challenge today. Bobo made some good adjustments as the game went on and put Cox and the team in a position to win. I disagree with most everyone on here that thinks the D played well today. LSU O has not been very good this year. In the first half they drove down the field and before failing to put it in the endzone as a result of their own poor coaching and play. LSU O dropped passes, missed a number of easy throws and their O line is not very good at all. In the end, the D allowed a rather poor O go down the field not once, but twice in the fourth to win the game. This one is a whole team loss, but it more squarely lands on the D. With the D line UGA should have been able to do more. The only area of improvement that I saw was the number of turnovers. I would rather have had three turnovers and won the game.

The REFS stink in every game!!!! For every team!!!!! Can’t use that for an excuse, all teams have to deal with the Ref’s. Ref’s who blow calls, make bad calls, who think they’re part of the game when they should be invisible, who think its they’re job to be important.

Last time UGA beat a top 5 opponent was in 2006 when they beat Auburn, so thats 2007 with out a win against a top 5 team. 2008, when ranked preseason #1, could not beat a top 5 opponent, 2009, still haven’t beaten a ranked opponent.

Why are we not at least giving some snaps to Gray or Murray. Wouldn’t it make sense to get the QBs of the future some PT when Cox obviously does not “have it”? You can’t be thinking redshirt anymore. If a guy is any good he will only be there for 3 total years anyway (see Knowshown Moreno). The defense finally got some pressure on the QB. The pessimist in me says thats only because LSU’s O-Line was throwing up sick. Ealy looks like an upgrade at RB and Green IS Superman, on the bright side.

If we replace running backs with one who can move the ball (Ealey), why didn’t we do that with the QB? Clearly Cox was having a bad day, but no one else got a chance. I guess next week against Tennassee it will be 6-3 or 50-44, depending on which team shows up – and I certainly wouldn’t bet on who the winner might be.

Three comments::
(1) Why can’t they coach players not to celebrate, particularly when the score is close (almost all the time)?
(2) Why can’t the players know when to take a touchback, rather than run one out.
(3) When Smith comes into the offense, it’s gonna be a reverse; when Logan Grey comes in its gonna be a keeper – When either of the players comes in, they might as well tell the defense what is coming? The coaches must think the other team is really stupid!

Nothing but props for our players and coaches from this dawg fan. We took the CFB team of decade down to the wire. We simply lost to a superior program today. Better players. Better coaches. Better ranking. Better everything. We did the best we could. It just wasn’t our day. So stop whining and get over it.

Anyone who believes the Defense was anything outside of poor is delusional at best. Can we have a defense that plays in position, lines up on the ball in time to get off the ball at the snap, wrap up when tackling, and better yet can we maybe get creative with the blitzes….maybe bluff a linebacker and send a corner (the offense of the opponent always…ALWAYS makes the correct the adjustment in regard to sliding protection because we have NO imagination of Defense). When is the last time we can say Georgia has coached a player up? This is the absolute worst I’ve seen a Georgia team play……hands down.

LSU has the fastest man in college football. Does an intelligent team kick to him with a min left in the game ? Kick the ball out of bounds. This forces LSU to pass the ball to get the twenty yards needed for a FG. Too many gimick plays on offense with this kind of talent. Good news! The offensive line played their best game of the year. Our only hope is to outscore our opponents. We should go back to the no huddle that we ran a few years ago.

It’s very sad and wrong for the refs to call an “excessive celebratio” penalty when all the players did was jump up and be happy. If that is the case, then there would be a call like that after every good play. SHAME ON THE REFS – AND HOW MUCH DID YOU GET FOR MAKING A CALL LIKE THAT? I hope you made a lot and it was worth it to you because it is very disheartening to have a call like that made. Also, I do believe the ref who made that call should be fired. Let’s everyone call for that ref to be fired and never paid for refering a game again.

Coach Richt is one of the best things to ever happen to UGA. PERIOD. He runs a class organization.

The bottom line is that we have a VERY YOUNG football team. It is going to make mistakes.

Everyone that was going after WM is now going after BOBO. Now, you are going after Richt? Shut up. How short a memory you guys have. Remember Donnan and Goof, I mean Goff. Seriously. We are only two years removed from finishing 2nd in the country.

Winning a National Championship is very difficult. It takes a LOT of luck. I takes a lot of things going your way that you have no control over. If you take some of Richts best teams and move them up or back a year, then they are playing in the NC because one or two loss teams made it that year. That is why winning the SEC should be our goal. We’ve done that. If the football God’s smile down on us to play for a NC crown, then awesome. I still think that the Shockley lead team was one of the best teams ever at UGA. Had he not gotten hurt, we certainly would have beaten UG and AU that year. We would have been in the title game. UF has been fortunate that they have been healthy. Let’s see how they play if Tebow is hurt.

Coaching has been really poor this season. We nearly got run out of our own stadium early today. How can you not get up for the #4 team in the country??? Come on.

And does anyone else find it interesting that as soon as Washaun Ealey came in our offense improved? Considering our running game has been pathetic this season, why did it take so long? Obviously Ealey has shown something in practice. And what’s the point in redshirting skill players? Lets be honest — if a skill player is SUPER good he’s going to go pro after three years no matter what. So, what’s the point in redshirting him? It’ll be just like Knowshon. We only got two years out of him and EVERY Bulldog fan knows he should have never been redshirted. Thank God the coaches woke up and injected Ealey in the lineup.

Joe Cox missed a wide open pASS TO GREEN WHICH PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN A td. One he didn’t see green who was wide open on the sideline but cannot blame this loss on Joe. He hit the go ahead TD and the refs screwed GA on the celebration call. For the most part this team cannot cover KO’s or punts too well. Kicking off from the 15 to one of the fastest runners in the world why not kick it out of bounds and and take your chances from the 40. Joe wasn’t on def when LSU scored the winning TD either.

Ealy is the best RB on the team. Forget about 22 and 4. Neither is SEC caliber talent. Make a LB out of 22. King reminds me of Jasper Sanks. Never really lived up to expectations.

If it were not for the stinking refereeing and missed tackling on the LSU winning TD and GA wins this game or maybe loses by last second FG.

Today’s loss was absolutely a coaching failure. The only consistency on this team is its inherent INCONSISTENCY. You never know week to week what they are likely to do and Richt seems to think any win is a good win. We fail horribly on the big games and there is too much talent and resources available in Athens for this kind of a performance. Just incredible. Joe is right. You’ll NEVER see a crystal football in Athens with Richt and company. Best thing that could happen to the Dawgs is to go 6-6 and turn up the heat to get Richt out of there.

Hey Shortcircuit – You said “That 15 yard celebration cost Ga the game” = NO it did not – LSU had a pretty good return and the running back who made the TD would have scored from 60 yards if he ran the same play. Besides – LSU had the call on them and UGA only managed to make to the 33 on the kick return. No – It was Coach “I don’t mind the penalities” Mark Richt and his idiot staff (can we say BooBoo) that caused the game.

I am sick of all you posters complaining about how the refs stole the game – JUST REMEMBER THIS – LSU had the SAME called on them and they didn’t fold like UGA did – and UGA had 1:09 left. Besides all of that – the kick return team STILL aloud LSU to start on GA’s side of the field – and the LSU running back that scored the TD would have scored even if LSU had been on their own 20. Saw quit your whinning about the refs you big babies and just remember – CMR doesn’t mind the penalities.
If you want to complain about the refs – it was 3 horrible calls by the refs that allowed GA to beat SC.

I think that it is time for Mark Richt and the coaching staff to be replaced. They are not getting the job done. 8-10 wins a season is not getting the job done. Its about winning championships not winning 8-10 games a year and they are clearly not getting the job done. Sure the coaches dont play the game the players do but they recruited the players and they are the ones who call the plays and put the players in the game to do it. It is time for a change and they need to do something about Joe Cox because he isnt getting it done that is for sure.

Sometimes you simply get beaten by a better team and the clock. A.J. Green, I must say, richly deserved the much-over-ballyhooed penalty. He actually offended twice on the play, with an earlier shove that should have been flagged as offensive pass interference. Stats aren’t everything, but LSU pretty much controlled the first half and the closing minutes, and the score pretty much reflects that reality. Georgia needn’t despair. They’ll play in a Jan. 1 game, possibly a BCS bowl. Heck, after we beat Florida next week they might wind up in the SEC Championship game, where, of course, we’ll beat them again.

Those of you wanting to fire Richt have lost your minds! This was a tough battle! We were able to get in at half time down by only 6 points due to an outstanding defense! The D made adjustments at half time and played even better the second half.

Cox missed some key throws no doubt. His mistakes did not warrant taking him out of the game and placing Logan in the game. Each week the team IS getting bettter with the large group of freshmen, red shirt freshmen, and sophomores playing.

I trust Richt and his judgement! I know he will coach the DAWGS in a way that we have the best opportunity to win games. This is a great coach and a good team that is growing and getting better! I look forward to seeing the DAWGS have succes with Richt in charge for years to come!

I’m always hopeful that UGA will get to a title game. Washaun Ealey had close to 3,000 yrds (2,982) and set a state record with 58 TD’s last year in high school and got his first touch of the ball yesterday (noted by the CBS broadcasters). Hey coaching staff, I got my first look at him, as did so many tv viewers, so what the hell have you been looking at? Of the eight carries (idiots), at least three of those reminded me of a #22 RB at Florida years ago. That would be Emmitt Smith. It’s great Richt has won eight games every year, but could he win the big games, please.

In my 40 plus years of following UGA Football, this is by far the most undisciplined and most uninspired team that I can remember. The gritty UGA Football tradition is all but gone under CMR and staff. In the past we’ve had teams with much less talent that may not have won every game either but they always left everything on the field. UGA has the atheletes…they just have no direction. CMR may be a good man but that doesn’t make him a good coach. UGA needs a staff that has passion and can instill the desire to execute. It’s time for a change.

Maybe FSU will need a coach on their staff. We need some coaching and apparently are current doesn;t have a clue or just isn’t interested. The offensive line is awful, so is the coaching. We could easily been down 28 points at half time with the failure of the whole team. The common thread to all the problems. RICHT. We’ll never some close to einning the SEC or national title. We’re sliping the lower middle SEC with near the top in talent. This is not a rebuilding year other than coaching was totaly unprepared for changes. Cox and AJ can’t do it all on pure talent. We’ve got to have some coaching!

Richt is following the path of his mentor at FSU Bobby Bowden , distance yourself from your assistants coaches and let them run the team. That’s fine if your are blessed with good assistants, we are not. After Richt gave up the OC job to Bobo we have suffered. His reluctance to do as Saban did by going out and recruit the best OC and DC available and only hire from within is only contributing to a weak coaching staff. His doing the same with his players.Remember this a man who started Terizenski over Stafford and red shirted Moreno.What coach is his right mind would do that? If Gray is 80% of Cox he must play for the mere fact there is a run factor with him or if Murray is the heir apparent than he should be playing to gain experience.Until Bobo and Martinez are replaced UGA will fall into the mediocrity category at best.Don’t except that to happen any time soon with Martinez, a long time friend, and Bobo with 5 children. Richt is not a hatchet man he is no Saban. I only hope the large contributors converge on Evans and force the changes needed to revive the program to an A program and not the present C program. You know what? Players know they run the risk of penalty with celebrations. So, smart players take the celebration to the sideline or hold it for after the game. Georgia lost this game because of an epeidemic in sports – self aggrandisement. It’s all about “me.” See “me.” Watch “me.” How great am “I.” Yes, the officials probably made a mistake with the call, but why put yourself in that risk area? Maybe the Dawgs learned a lesson, but probably not. It’s always about “me” and not “us.”

Insane-Martinez gets 1.5 quarters of decent defensive output and people are rallying around him? Gimme a break. When he can manage 8 consecutive quarters, he’s accomplished something.

Sloe Cox-look, it’s WONDERFUL that he’s always aspired to be #1 QB at UGA-fact is, he’s STILL not #1 even though he starts. Everyone knows he’s 4th in ability at BEST. Sadly, it will take an injury to get CMR to take him out. So now, if there’s a middle schooler out there who says he only wants to be QB at UGA, that means we should sign him? Sheesh. His throws are horrific, he has no running ability and he’s too short to see over anyone 5′11′ or taller. There is absolutely no reason he should be starting-he wouldn’t be starting at any other SEC school-maybe the ACC, but not the SEC.

Too bad about the calls, but even with them the dawgs had more tha a chance to win this game, thanks SOLELY to AJ GREEN. All this game did was confirm Green’s decision to jump to the NFL ASAP-why should he stay?

CMR is a great coach but is WAYYY too loyal-both to 5th year QB’s and defensive coordinators. Sadly, it will probably result in his departure. Those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it-remember Joe T,CMR? Same situation.

This weeks preparation and the mind set the coaches take will be very telling. Do they go back to fundamentals like tackling, blocking, running, and perhaps even looking for receivers other than the primary, or do we continue on the same path. Working on dance moves and talking about how tough things are going, but it is ok cause they are young and have a 5th yr QB to lead them.
We will all know this team and the coaches by supper time in knoxville sat. The only question is whether we will be ordering the big chicken dinner or weinee water soup.

A few disconnected observations:
1. Saw CMR on tv tonite. He appeared laissez faire, disconnected from the goings on. What up w’dat?
2. There is some serious talk that need to be going on between CMR and his so-called coaches. Do they every talk about things?
3. I wonder if we will hear about the top recruiting class this year. We have all about how great they were in recent years.
4. CMR has said he isn’t too concerned with penalties. He’d better be.

FL Dawg, I want some on the drugs you are on…. Bobo was out coached, and out classed by Chavis. The defense played very well, not great but they kept us in the game. In the first half Bobo didn’t adjust to anything. Only an Idiot would start a game with a reverse!!! Give me a break. Bobo uses the pitch to get the ball in Ealey’s hands… Good idea, that worked for Knowshon too. Why not do the same thing when King or Samuel are in the back field. Bobo’s play call is terrible. That’s the coach that needs to GO!!!!

Listen folks, call me crazy but our defense is playing Ok at best. In the OSU, Ark, and USC game our offense put them in bad situations because of turnovers. 14 pts against OSU, 17 pts against Ark, and at least 17 against USC. Bobo is the real problem.

coaching changes need to be made, i am not blaming everything on coaching, but a lot of what is wrong is coaching. if the coaching staff was doing what they should be doing logan gray would have played some in each game this season. penalties–coaching ect. there is something really wrong at uga, i am just hoping that someone at uga sees it and does something about it, if not it is just going to get worst.

We have lost to two top ten opponents with a young team. The first was deserved, the second was a fluke, one-play mistake after two horribly timed penalties. I thought we had ‘em. Its time to regroup and get ready for Tennessee. The future of the SEC East is entirely in the Bulldogs hands. All you fair weather , dad-in-the-stands, i-never-went-to-georgia wannabes should watch football on sundays. all you ask is: What have you done for me lately? Richt has only lead uga to top 25 finishes every year since 2001 and a few of those were in the top ten. All we have to do is win out and we are in the top ten again. Come on true dogs fans! lets get to work! finish the drill!!! its hard work in the sec!!!

We WILL be in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome in December – for the SEC Championship Game- a rematch with LSU.

ealy needs to start a tail back and logan gray needs to play cause we need to have some qb with playing time going in to next year..but bobo is an idiot and richt wont do anything about it. we needto keep richt bottom line but wille and mike has to go or its just gonna get worse

Hey folks, we remember LSU 08 when Charles Scott ran all over UGA, late in THAT game. I remembered it and I 100% expected to see him w/ the ball with 68 seconds to go. Martinez must have thought that he graduated. He should have told his crew ( D team ) to LOCK UP MEN and WIN IT NOW!!
A good D team wants to win the game in front of the home crowd ………..we BLEW IT. We are one ill prepared football team and if my wife knows it …………..then folks, it is bad. She thinks a lock up is to lock the car, or the front door, BUT even she commented that UGA does not LOCK UP on key plays like vs ga tech last year and wi/ Charles Scott on the LSU game. Disgusting it is.

That game should have been in the books as one of the great UGA comeback stories like Buck Belue to Lindsay Scott but it will be FORGOTTEN within three years, as just one more BLOWN game in the FORMER coach’s era. No fame in the books for Joe Cox to AJ Green vs. LSU, just AJ will be remembered as the ONE PLAYER on this squad.

It will turn very ugly for UGA this fall, I am afraid. You can hear the disunion and disharmony out U of T right now with several players being invloved in rifts wigth coaches andd we will soon see that at UGA> floks, change must be forthcoming, in order to be ready for 2010 and 2011. This season with QB Joe Cox and his gimpy arm is a lost cause.
Start Logan Gray and Aron Murray NOW at QB, so as to be ready for 2010 and the NEW STAFF !!!

Ealey needs to start, Carlton Thomas needs in the game in the slot. Cox needs to sit down. Gray needs to try at QB. CHANGE THINGS UP!! There is no tomorrow in SEC. Defense I just do not know what to say.
