It is still a good match up between the Mets and the Braves. It is not really anyone's fault for the Mets as everyone knows. Just like the Braves last year, the Mets is plagued with injuries. Look at the schedule this year, it is all about the Mets and the Phillies. Braves though, has not been good for a while but they are getting there. I believe next year, when the Mets become healthier and Braves get more help from offseason market to compliment with their pitching. It would be more competitive next year whilst it is all about the Phillies in 2009.

To me it doesn't matter anymore. The Mets have spent and spent and are still under the braves in the standings and the braves have given alway all their farm for a couple of rentals in the past 2-3 years so who cares anymore. The Mets will probably beat the braves in 2 or maybe 3 games depending on what Booby lets Hanson pitch tonight or not. He will take him out if he has a decent chance to win like he did the last time he pitched. Cox will find some way to lose to the Mets if at all possible. Until management is changed the braves are losers and I for one will not waste my time watching them. I would like to see Hanson do good tonight and just see what kind of dumb move Cox makes to spoil it.I'm sure he will come up with something like he always does to keep from winning.

Braves are still in the hunt. If the Giants can sweep the Rocks and the Bravos can sweep the Mets, hope goes on. Braves still have 3 with Phils and Marlins too. I believe Marlins have at least 3 with Phils This is baseball anything can happen!!

Some people don't think before they post here. Every game means something, especially in August AND September... It doesn't matter what team you play. The Braves-Mets rivalry will always matter to TRUE baseball fans because these two teams used to duke it out in the 90's all season long. Just because the Mets are out of it this year doesn't mean they can't have an impact on the playoffs. They can still take one or two games away from the Braves to get revenge (most likely because the pressure is basically off them).

And FYI - The Braves are still in this thing... with 162 games a year, any team can falter at any given time, and also... any team can get hot at any given time... that's what makes BASEBALL great.

Not to get off topic here, Chief, but I got a question hopefully you'll be able to solve for me. In regards to the new 2010 schedule announced today I noticed we do not have any interleague games against the Red Sox. I thought that MLB designated the Braves and Red Sox as "Natural Rivals" for interleague purposes, meaning that regardless of which AL division we play, we also play a series against the Red Sox. Not that I'm complaining, but has this "Natural Rival" idea gone by the wayside already?
