Dwyer scores more in one quarter than UGA can score against one of the worst defenses in the country (last year) in an entire game. I really wish we had gotten a 5-star running back.

Mark it down now, it’s not hot yet, but somebody just put a box of matches under CMR’s seat.

COX is no D.J Shockley!!! not even close, D.J Was the truth, took us to the Sugarbowl and an SEC Title. I lost faith in COX, he ain’t got it, his talent is severely lacking, he knows the playbook like the back of his hand SO WHAT!!!Bottom line is he can’t make the throws needed to run Mark Richt’s pro-style offense, it’s time to get the young pups ready so that we can hit the ground running next year, or even gain some ground this year, but there is NO WAY we win in the SEC with Joe Cox back there, I respect the guy but he flat out can’t play

Joe Cox is TRASH!!! He can’t hit recievers, fumbling the ball, weak arm. Its one thing to know the offense and quite the other to be able to execute. we see why he sat behind Stafford for 3 years!!!! He’s alittle better then Tereshinski at best, it’s gonna be a long season in Athens.. I say let Super Blue Chip Aaron Murray get quality snaps so that he can lead us to the promise land next year.

We are so awesome. Joe Cox for Heisman! Mark Richt for coach of the year. This clearly shows how dominant the SEC is. We should jump in the rankings this week. Our defense gave up less than 30 points. Tech sucks. Florida sucks. We will run the table and win the national championship. Tech is a bunch of nerds and we will beat them by 50. If Joe Cox didn’t have the flu, OSU would have been down by 50 at the half and would not have come out of the locker room.

We have no playmakers on offense or defense. Many opportunities for turnovers and they slipped through our hands. Many small mistakes that made huge differences in the game. D was better but the O and special teams (not so) put them in horrible situations. Best coaching of the day was Willie and not Booboo or Searals…. kind of a tough start and much needs improved before SC next week. We made the Okie State D look like a great D. SC has a better D so we are going to have to win games 10-7 like SC. O the pain…..

Was hoping Cox would do better. Was hoping we would have a pass rush. Was hoping we could find somebody to run the ball. Samuels is good at getting 4-5 yards, but don’t think he will ever break a long one. That’s what I thought about him and King both last season. But the most glaring weakness to me is the coaching. How many times did we run Samuel into the line? I know the the O-line is supposedly our strength this season, but after 30 or so times it gets predictable. The thing is, OSU had the 109th-ranked defense against the pass last season. Sure they have a new D coordinator, but really, how much can change in eight month? Next time, how about putting together a game-plan that attacks an opponent’s weakness instead of putting all the eggs behind the O-line advantage? Finally, Joe Cox could’nt hit the broad side of a barn in the 4th quarter, BUT this happened well after the entire team had become snake bit. If we had thrown more in the first three quarters, when we had a little momentum and before the desperation set in, he and the receivers would have done better and the their confidence would have grown. Again, why not take your chances with one of the worse pass defenses in the country? Unbelievable.

We scored 10 points against a Top 10 team? Tech only scored 37 against Div 1AA. That just shows you how great we are.

Who is UGA

September 5th, 2009
7:35 pm

UGA is a very inconsistent team. Not just today, but last year. The writing is on the wall, can’t blame Willie Martinez for this one, a collective effort, a big fat L. Very one dimensional team, hardly even one dimensional, half a dimension.

UGA Offense:

-A linebacker running the ball. Not very shifty, can miss first contact. A smaller Carlton Thomas (freshman, can’t handle linebackers at this level. Truly a space guy)
-A quarterback who has way to much touch, the ball hangs up to long, inaccurate, to short to throw over the line and well you can see what he is on any good team, a practice quarterback.
-Receiving care won’t matter, because UGA’s signal caller is a 3 star QB playing like a 2 star, the receiving core will have a long year.

Defense: Ironically enough, they played outstanding. They really only allowed 14 points, the other 10 points given-up by turnovers on offense & special team punt coverage bust. Secondary needs work on reading wide outs – zone protection over/under routes better.

Special teams: Besides the kickers. Everyone needs to start over.

Assessment: As a life long dawg fan and football coach, I put my assessment out after the first game. Last year I had the dawgs 8-4, I was close.

Assessment: 6-6. This will be the worst year under CMR. Great christian man, but it will not cut UGA’s standards. This will start a fire storm, not just because of his 6-6 record, but CFB coaches has caught-up and surpassed UGA over the past 2-3 years. In the area’s of coaching and scheming, Saban, Meyer & Paul Johnson will be the standard UGA will be compared to.

UGA will be looking for a coach, if not this year then by next year.

He has got to get some gahonnas and JACK his own coaches up! I just can’t stand the way we played. Call me old school or what. But good GOD “ERK IS ROLLING IN HIS GRAVE” I need to see the defense make something happen, and I did not. I can’t stand giving another team credit for my own ineptitude. and that is what happened. They “OKST” could not stop our 3 and 5 yard running game. By the way that is a first down every 2nd or 3rd carry. CMR couldn’t stand it.he had to put us in a 4 man spread and let COX try to throw us down field. Folk’s. Give me less talent. I don’t care, I still will be determined to kick your ass. If you were a fan before the Richt era then you would understand that its nice that we’re disappointed when we don’t win championships because prior to Richt we were just happy to make to the Outback Bowl. Could be a long season. First of all, as far as two ranked teams, neither team imho is even top twenty. Game reminded me of an Ole Miss vs. Miss. St. game from 1983. Cox telegraphed every throw I saw in the first half, then couldn’t hit the ocean from the beach in the second. Too many skilled players for Cox not to get the ball to. Spurrier is licking his chops. Is Aaron ready yet? Defense played good considering three of the scores were after we gave ‘em a short field. Kickoff coverage sucked while Kevin’s boy was outstanding punting the ball. Disappointing start is all I can say. Hopefully next week we can turn it around.

The strategy of not going after the opponent’s punter persist. Great strategy. Every opponent’s punter can “take” his time. Kickoff coverage is awful. Fabris should be fired now. Not at the end of the season. Our “wise” DC still thinks that stunting and blizting is not the preferred way to go giving their qb plenty of time to make his passes when it counted. Meanwhile our opponent stunted every play and kept our qb and backs running for their lives. Joe Cox took much too long on most of his passess to make a decision. Why not screen C Bo ? Indecision kills the cat, and a qb that does the same will do us in. It is enough to make the most diehard dawg fan wish for a six loss season in order to maybe clean our house of some subpars! I am nauseated. Hand me the pecid.

Man, you all homers are so negative. CMR has almost an 80% winning percentage and UGA has been one of the most consistent programs the last 10 yrs – even UF had some 4 loss seasons.

I grew up in ATL and everyone still wants to live the great memories Dooley and Herschel and the Junkyard D gave us in the early eighties. Let this season play out and I still think you have a 9-10 win team this year.

The reason the Pac 10 is so bad every year (except USC) is that there is simply too much to do out here and most don’t care so there is not this pent up frustration that the SEC fans have. Don’t get me wrong, I wear my UGA colors everywhere out here, but there is simply more to do.

With that being said, I am heading over to Pebble Beach for a round a golf this weekend. Good luck Dawgs this year.

Plain and simple,, the dawgs stunk today. Cox is not the answer, coaching was non-effective, and did not make teh changes that needed to be made. OSU did not impress me that much. Yes they won, but I think it was just that one of those mediocre teams had to win today.

But please,, someone PLEASE explain to me how that was a personal foul against Georgia that gave OSU the chance to score that touchdown ????? The receiver had touched the ball, the Georgia defender came in and hit him with his shoulder pads, in his chest, not his head,,and they throw a flag ?????? SERIOUSLY ???????????????????????? Like the announcers said,,, if you’re going to throw a flag on that play, you might as well play touch football. That was pathetic !!!!

I’m trying to find something good to hang on to here, but really can’t find much. I’m not ready to toss Cox out with the trash (and anyone that calls a young man “trash” because he didn’t have a good game is just flat out wrong). Cox admittedly didn’t look good, missed way too many receivers, and generally didn’t play like a senior (for instance, not throwing the ball away and getting tackled for a loss). If he can’t ignite the offense next week against the Chickens, it may be time to turn it over to the younger guys. Samuel looks good at times, but I’m still looking for him to break that one tackle for the big run. I’m glad to see the DB’s put some hard hits on the receivers. That last unnecessary roughness call was totally bogus. It was a clean, hard hit, and the zebras need to let football players play football. Still no pass rush, still can’t get a kickoff into the endzone, and we failed to make a single interception even though we had three great opportunities to do so. I hope we lost to a good team today, but I’m not convinced we did. It’s too early to throw in the towel, though. Go Dawgs! Whip the Chickens.

The saddest part is losing by 14 to a team that just didn’t look good at all. Good luck in the SEC but please, please call a game like that in Atlanta in November. Go Jackets !!!!

Mark, you are in your ninth season at Georgia and each year seem’s to get worse instead of better. Are you unhappy at Georgia or has someone hurt your feelings. Whatever the problem, I think you should think about a new career. Coaching doesn’t seem to be working out for you. Your show no passion, emotion, or anything else that I can see on the sidelines. Other coaches seem to have a plan B in case A does not work out. After today’s game I would get on the bus and forget about us. Most Georgia people want to win a National Championship – some can, some can’t and some never will. Which one do you think you are?

I think we can win some games this year if we get Gray in the rotation and work on dropped balls. The play calling was definitely puzzling to me at times, but I don’t think Bobo is any worse at calling plays than Richt, which is probably why Richt keeps him around. Penalties were a little better. 2 of them were crap anyway, so you can’t really count those. We’re not beating UF this year, but maybe we can pull something out against UT. All is not lost. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Defense was good. Offense was terrible – gave them 14 points. We will not get it done with Cox- weak arm and bad decisions. Give Gray more snaps in the next game and see if he can get the job done, – if not go with Murray. Looks like a very long season.

This wasn’t a typical performance for this team. They are much better ,it was an off night. I was encouraged by the play in the first half. And I stand behind my comments…UGA beats LSU by 14 this year (it’s at home), and they beat Georgia Nerdy Tech by 20 (would be more, but it’s in Atlanta). We should win the rest of our games bar the Florida game…which looks pretty evenly matched…

I can’t understand why we go from the running game and doing well on the first drive to a passing game. Our QB was slow in making decisions and off in his throws. Yes, we did have a few bad calls against us… especially the call on Jones to give them the ball near our goal line. I not going to give up on the team regardless of winning or losing. They are still my team. Our offense needs a new breath and not be so predicable. Yes, I am an arm chair coach, but I have played some ball in my time. This is going to be a long season. How can you expect the Dawgs to do better without their two best offensive weapons from last year. I would have Thomas and Cox carry a football with them the rest of the season since they cannot handle the football. Cox would be a second-stringer till he wins his position back. The Cowboys would have been killed if Stafford and Moreno were still here.

Turnovers and bad playcalling somewhat cost us this game. I really think that the Cowboys had a lot of homecooking. The refs had issues with marking the ball and a roughing the receiver call. I did not think we were there to play touch football.

Any of you who really thought we would compete this yr don’e really know what’s going on. Very young and inexperienced in too many areas. The ENTIRE coaching staff (cept o line coach/maybe garner) are second tier caliber. I really think it is time to look at some restructuring of the staff. We don’t seem to be prepared in all phases. QB is a problem, RB is a problem, and the OL got manhandled which is a huge concern..but they are also young. Our D looks the same yr after yr with nothing new…OSU was agressive and mixed thiks up…maybe we should copy some of that . Will be a long and frustrating yr like 06….ON a positive note, we have some good young players that seem to be close

Very bad performance by Cox. He looked no better than a freshman with his decision making, panic, lack of looking for the secondary receiver, and on and on…might as well put the freshman in there for that kind of performance. Extremely POOR play calling after that opening drive didn’t help the situation.

Defense actually played decently with most points for OSU coming off of turnovers and poor execution on kicking game (a probleme area apparently for the 4th year in a row…). Defense still needs work on coming up with turnovers but better effort on holding down the penalties at least for this game…Martinez still employing that terrible 3 man rush that puts no pressure on the passer (he never learns…) overall, team badly outcoached as OSU made adjustments and Dawgs collapsed…Team C, coaching F…

Gotta love CMR as a recruiter, but as a head coach he has a lot to learn; like a HC will go only as far as his players and staff will take him. Hate to give up on him but he must realize a HC in college is like a manager watchin over a staff of supervisors overseeing a production team for quality finished products. No way possible CMR can not see that his staff is the problem in the flow chart, wonder if his hands are tied by UGA politics because this is getting shameful. The D produces no t/o’s and the O always stalls year in year out. Too much niceness is a flaw in CF a coach has to take charge and utilize the players that give the team the best chance to win not ones who appease the alum’s or show the most loyalty. I did’nt see Samuels break one tackle all day. I’ve never seen a back go down so easy. I know that the Okie back did’nt get a lot of yards but it often took several dawgs to bring him down. Offensive line over rated. Don’t know about the recivers( see Joe). Did the DE’s even make a tackle today. I know they did’nt pressure the qb any. For you people who thought that the defense played ok today then think again. We had them pinned down, what 3 times inside there own 10 yard line and we let them out each and every time. They just lined up and said here we come stop us if you can. Guess what? The db’s played ok for the most part, but sure could have used a couple of them picks that they dropped. Don’t even get me started on the special teams. I really could’nt blame the ko returner for bring the ball out of the endzone, I mean he was least trying to make something happen for gods sake. The offense and defense sure was’nt going to. I’ll be there watching and cheering them on again next week hoping that they get their act together, but I’ve got a really bad feeling about this bunch. You consider OSU a “weak” team even though they were ranked #9 and we were ranked #13???

I really thought that UGA fans had more class than to rake our team over the coals over ONE loss. Yes, this more than likely will be a re-building year and if you didn’t know that going into the season then you don’t really follow the in’s-and-out’s of the UGA football program. Use a little common sense. When a team has to replace several MAJOR positions there is going to be some adjustment. And for all you naysayers, I can’t wait to read all the comments following our next victory. Let’s not be like “those” fans who only support their team when they win. We all know that college football becomes more of a “business” year after year and head coaches do a lot more than simply coach and recruit. According to Forbes.com, last year Georgia was #2 in the Top 10 Football Revenue Schools for 2007-2008 and in 2007, Georgia ranked #3 in the Most Valuable College Football Teams with a value over $90 million behind Notre Dame at $101 million and Texas at $92 million. We (Coach Richt & team) must be doing something right.
Forbes.com Top 10 Football Revenue Schools for 2007-2008
1. Texas $72.95 million
2. Georgia $67.05 million
3. Florida $66.1 million
4. Ohio State University $65.16 million
5. Notre Dame $59.77 million
6. Auburn $59.67 million
7. Michigan $57.46 million
8. Alabama $57.37 million
9. Penn State $53.76 million
10. Louisiana State University $52.68 million

But let us not forget that we’re talking about kids here – 18-21 year olds, NOT professionally paid athletes. What were you doing at age 19?

If Cox was still feeling the after-effects of the flu then he should have been man enough to say “today’s not my day.” Not making excuses, today we were not the better team. However, it sure would have been nice to open at home against someone like Charleston Southern, SJSU, Akron, Jax State, The Citadel, Fla Atlantic, or Portland State just to name a few. I am proud that we were man enough to schedule a real team for the season opener. Don’t forget that the greater the risk, the greater the reward or in our case today, the greater the loss. Can’t wait for Monday so we can all start talking about “next week’s game.”

Let’s look at the real picture here. The Dawgs have had top recruiting classes for the last umpteen years, but we can’t seem to piece it all together. Today was an embarrassment; but before we hang Joe Cox or any individual player, let’s evaluate our coaching staff for what they showed on the field this Saturday.
ABC was praising CMR for asking for ‘Poise’ from his players. I would have rather seem him asking for some ‘Points, Pass Rush, and Place Kicking into the End Zone’. Most importantly, he should be asking how his offensive and defensive coordinators can have the nerve to take a paycheck for their pitiful performance. It’s like watching a football version of “Dumb and Dumber” and our players damn-well deserve better that that.
CMR, being a good guy only goes so far when you start piling up loses at Georgia. Dawg fans and players deserve more than they are getting. This game drives homes the fact that we need change and we need it now.

Dissapointing is the only way to describe it. After watching a rerun of the 1st drive, why in the world are we not running the ball? This goes to a FL state decision maker and a quarterback calling plays. Samuel looks very good, hits the line with speed and creates yardage when their isn’t an opening. We experience success out of the gate and Bobo keeps sifting through the play book? Where is the logic, the rythem, clock control? I thought our defense looked great against a tough opponent, particularly given the situations they were put in by tuen-overs. Special teams get an “F” asside from Walsh’s long field goal. We’ll be lucky to be .500 at years end vying for a Weedwacker bowl birth if the dogs don’t improve immediately.

This starts with coaching, conditioning, and a simpler approach. Bottome line; EXECUTE on special teams, CONTROL THE CLOCK by running the ball, keep up the D, and get up for next week as we have a long road ahead.

Robert

Bobo was out coached and continues to be game after game. Richt needs to hire an experienced OC who can utilize all the talent they have (and continue to get year after year). Bobo is overmatched. Hate to see what happens when he goes against Papa Kiffin. Martinez needs to go too. Bottom line, time for Richt to make some staff changes.
Cox reminds me of the year Stafford came in and Joe T. was the 5th year Sr getting his opportunity. Took what, 3 games before Richt went to Stafford. Might not be that long before Gray or one of the freshman move Cox to the bench.

The game plan put in was one to be conservative and control the clock. It was smart. OSU adjusted and played the run better after the first drive. What happened in this game was what we were afraid of. Cox just does not have the arm strength to play QB in the SEC.His throws were more lobs. Someone asked, where was AJ? He was there, he just did not have a QB to get him the ball. It was not Perrish Cox (Although a good CB, it was Cox’s inability to get AJ the ball. We have no vet skill players with the exception of Moore and AJ. We will struggle all year offensively, even with a Vet OL. We just don’t have the playmakers. I thought Samuel did a decent job running the ball. He is not a cutback runner. He runs straight ahead. We do need a RB with the skill set to cut back. Ealy anyone? We are already playing a ton of Frosh anyway. What would one more matter.

The defense played really good today. I saw only one big play given up. They need to hold on to those ints. I hope the D doesn’t throw in the towel, because the O did not really help much. They are not going to this season. This season will go on how the D and the STs play.

I know OSU had alot of penalties today. That kept UGA in the game for the most part. I think UGA is still paying the price for the endzone dance. I still don’t understand that personal foul on UGA that gave OSU the ball at our 10 yard line. UGA was still in the game up til that point

Dawg fans, here it is in a nutshell:
1. Now we know why Joe Cox did not start for the last 4 years. He may be knowledgeable, but he cannot hit a receiver 20-30 yards down field. He is good for the 5-10 yard out.
2. Richard Samuel has Danny Ware disease…he falls down when someone swipes his shoelaces. Carlton Thomas is a fast running back who can hit the hole, but he is a midget and gets brought down with arm tackles. Hopefully, Caleb King can revive the running game. Take a look at Alabama if you want to see what a true SEC running back should look like.
3. The defense was put in a lot of bad situations, but I have to ask why were we on single man coverage with Dez Bryant? The guy is a Heisman Candidate for crying out loud. We are going with single coverage on the guy WILLIE?!?! I believe that you are in charge of not only the overall defense, but the D-BACKS AS WELL!!! Who caught all the TD passes for Ok St???? You might have wanted to double cover the guy.
4. Again Willie, we have to put up with no blitzes and no pressure on the QB??? When, when are you going to learn to pressure the QB and blitz the QB. We are the SEC!! Our Defense is suppose to be FAST! Why are we not using that speed. This soft defense (and Willie) has to go.
5. Offense was dismal. What can you say? The play calling sucked, the execution sucked, the checkoffs sucked.
6. Basically, the Dawgs played the same mediocre BS they’ve played since CMR walked on campus. Uninspired football.

Where do we go from here:
1. Start working Aaron Murray into the rotation. If Logan Grey is’nt good enough to start over Joe Cox, then lets start working the Freshman into the games (much like we did with Stafford).
2. If we are going to go with Logan Grey (who can run) or Aaron Murray (who can run), then we need to go back to the offense that Richt designed for Charlie Ward when he was at FSU. It won a championship then and it has to have more success that what we are currently doing.

hey we lose and are offense didn’t play as well and Joe Cox didn’t play great ……. but are defense looked really good. When u only give up 24 points to a high powered offense then u did well. Joe Cox it’s his first real start u have to like the first drive though. I think he will get better as the season goes. JOE COX KEEP DOIN U AND WE WILL WIN!!!!!!!!!!GO DAWGS.

Folks, year in and year out, the pollers consistently rank Georgia’s recruiting class at or near the top……and year in and year out, the bullpuppies mostly desappoint. The big question is…..what happens when these players get to campus, get acquainted with where the lunchroom is and finally find the football facility and start trying to be football players. Their Arts and Sciences classes can’t be that hard to study for so they spend most of their time playing football. My opinion is that most of them have such big egos they think they can come in and be the biggest thing that ever hit Athens. The very sad reality is, there are too many teams in the SEC that recruit just as well as Georgia, have better programs and better coaches and have better, more productive football teams. I have been following two college football teams for the past fifty-five years and both are in the State of Georgia and my least favorite is UGA because of their high haughty attitudes because they think they’re allways the best and are so insulted because everyone else doesn’t think so. Coach Richt, if you wanna keep your job for a while longer, take off the gloves……you’re treating your players like their prima donna’s – they’re not. Carry a piece of 2 x 4 around the practive field and use it when necessary……stop being so nice.

I heard Greenie on the pregame show yesterday talking about the importance of special teams and how making sure that if you do the small things right big things will happen. No truer words were ever spoken. Special teams was a huge failure yesterday. From the OSU 74 yd. return to our 64 yd. return called back on a block in the back, to a punt that should have been downed at their two. Those were all huge momentum and confidence crushers for us. In each case, lack of preparation and lack of execution failed us. Oh yea, did I mention that we still have no one at UGA who can kick a ball past the 10 yard line? If any coach needs to be the first to go, let’s start with Fabris. Special teams play is every bit as important as offense and defense. CMR just doesn’t see it, and doesn’t emphasize it by demanding that he get better and more consistent production from Fabris and his ST units (or his O and D coordinators for that matter). How many games have you seen, and will see this year, that turn on a special teams play? We no doubt have a lot of issues to address, and we are, IMHO, seeing the beginning of a pretty pedestrian rebuilding year. We are definitely over-rated. However, until we can kick a ball into the end zone, cover a good punt returner, and capitalize on our own returns without shooting ourselves in the foot, we won’t compete for an SEC Championship, much less a NC.

PS All you Tech trolls posting here (UGA Rules, Ed, others) get a life and go find another board to play on. Maybe you can boast about your powerful showing against Jax State. Your UGA bashing is pretty stale at this point and no one here cares what you think. Good luck this season. We’ll see you in November to sort things out!

What a bunch of fair weather fans you Bulldogs are. You’re acting like the toilet paper/washing powder crowd from Tuscaloozer. You have a really good head coach and the season is far from over. You might want to think about supporting your team. On the other hand, I’m glad you got beat. Too bad Va Tech sucks too. WDE!!!

Yesterday made my mind up quickly. Mark Richt is not the right coach for UGA. This team will never accomplish a national championship with him leading. Your team comes out and runs the ball down the field for a TD then all you do is throw the ball the rest of the game. Not to smart when its not working. Thanks CMR. Maybe its time to make some changes to the UGA coaching staff.

We’d have a darn fine conference if we could just drop those sickly pups. Georgia humiliated my league today on national television. I think I’ll ask a class program like Georgia Tech to come back into the fold and send that bunch from Athens packing to the Sun Belt where at least they’d have a chance at a .500 season.

Richt has this family feeling amoung the coaching staff. Had a chance to strenthen it with John Chavis from Tennessee and passed. Georgia has a very average coaching staff. Georgia doesn’t think National Titles like Florida, Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee! Georgia’s standards are way too low, and Kiffin will win another National Championship before Dawgs!
IT IS TIME FOR RICHT TO GO & GET A SABAN, MEYER, KIFFIN LIKE COACH!

Can someone tell me –

1) Who is coaching our kickoff returners to bring is out from 4-7 yards deep in the endzone? And how many times does someone need to do that before they figure out why you NEVER see someone do that? And how about the punt we were about to down inside the 5, only to have #2 run in and turn it into a touchback. We are killing ourselves with plays like that. Who is coaching them?

2) I though with a new KO kicker we were planning to kick it deeper than the 10. OK State kicked it so deep you would have thought they were kicking off from the 50.

3) Our own kick coverage was pathetic – who is responsible fro the special teams? Fabris? Good grief we looked poorly prepared.

4) Defense played well enough to be the highlight of the day, but we need to learn to pressure the QB. We weren’t getting good penetration into the backfield. Where are our quick defensive ends? Either they were being held or they weren’t trying hard enough to get off of their blocks. Who coaches the defensive ends? Fabris?

5) The main reason we didn’t have any turnovers on our own – we dropped how many potential interceptions? After dropping the ball, our defender grabs his helmet as if to say “man, I should have caught that!”. Alabama snagged a few great catches and see how their night turned out.

6) Samuels may be the best we have, but did anyone else notice that he seems to drop quickly after the first touch – once or twice before the first touch.

I hate to complain publicly, and I have not personally done so since Coach Goff’s last season, but I am tired of us not playing up to our potential. I am tired of us looking poorly coached and prepared for situations. After the opening drive, we began looking like we were trying not to lose instead of trying to win (where have we seen that before?). I put this on the adults more than the students.

i am sick to death of losing big games!!! If we are a top program why do we get worse every year? We beat the crap outta them pokes 2 years ago, they get better we get worse, am i making myself clear, Bobo is a good guy=loser Martenez is a good frien=loser…..Saint Mark is too passive and it reverberates on the field, woody Hayes would have smacked him upside the head for his passive ways. Changes are coming , recruits will be lost, turmoil will set in, Richt will move on to Fla St. The cycle of losing will continue, unless Richt takes back play calling and the only keeper is Searles, We let Texas get our D-coordinator. I watches as my uncles suffered thru Phil Fulmer and now i am in the same boat with Richt.

Cox looks like Joe Tereshinski except his passes don’t look like he’s having a convulsion that produces a football from somewhere in his body…

Our coaching staff had a great 1st drive laid out, but as usual got outcoached badly once a little ‘on the fly’ adjusting became necesarry.

The defense looked pretty good all things considered.

It’s only the 1st week, but next week is a toss up and will be like watching tards finger paint. We should beat ASU (but I wouldn’t put a nickel on it), who knows what we’ll do in Arkansas, could lose to LSU @ home, could lose to UT in Knexville, probably beat Vandy (probably), Flarada will beat us by how ever many they choose to beat us by, will beat Tenn Tech, might lose to Kentucky, might lose to Auburn, and Tech will drill us…

As a former player and until this year a 30 year ticket holder I have great admiration for Coach Richt-however, his loyalty to his coaching staff has prevented him from being considered among the great coaches like Saban and Myer. I like Bobo and Martinez as individuals-but both lack the skill to coach in the sec. For the last two years with Stafford and Mareno the game plan was run Mareno twice and throw long–One play he needs to take out of the play book-the endzone fade route-I have reviewed every game film for three years – the play has only been successful 12% of the time–not good results. The successful defense in the SEC is one that attacks and is aggressive-Martenez uses a react to the play defense and with the speed in the SEC Georgia frequently comes up short. Before the season began I spoke with several former players and told them Ga would win 7 to 8 games–now I believe they may win only 3 to 4. When the line opens holes Samuel can make a nice run-however, a really good back can make a play on his own–Samuel does not have true running back ability–and there is a reason Cox has been on the bench for 4 years–good guy with weak arm. A qb must be able to release the ball quickly-he does not have the skill. Also Bobo needs to keep Cox in the pocket–the rollout is not a play he can make. To really be a factor in the SEC-Coach Richt must put the team above his loyalty to his coaches otherwise Ga will be another Vandy.

How about giving the team that won a little credit. The pass defense last year might have had a little something to do with two starters being hurt for the seaaon. SEC is a great conference and Georgia always has good teams, but can we get some credit for improving the program.

What’s up with the GT fan obsession on UGA?? Don’t you guys have a team this year?

1. I thought the Dawgs defense played hard nosed football all day against what’s been billed as one of the most prolific offenses in the country. The missed opportunities to make a few interceptions in the 2nd quarter hurt! 17 points allowed off 2 turnovers by the offense and one special teams breakdown with drives starting inside the 30.
2. I thought special teams play with the exception of the opening kickoff in the 2nd half was outstanding. Butler’s punting was outstanding; Walsh’s 53 yard field goal would have been good from 65 yards.
3. Offense fell asleep after the opening drive. Not sure if it was play calling or execution or both.
4. Three of offical’s calls hurt momentum for dawgs and impacted the outcome of the game. First – the no call on pass interferance on a slant pattern to AJ in the 1st quarter. DB had pulled his head around with left hand long before ball arrived. Second – the spot OSU got on the 4th down play on the dawgs 2 yard line at start of 3rd quarter. The guys knee hit the ground a yard behind the spot. That would have been a huge stop for the dawgs. Instead, OSU scores on the next play. Third – the personal foul call on R. Jones in 4th quarter. Two things – 1. the receiver actually had the ball on his fingertips when Jones hit him, 2. Neither I nor the commentators saw anything illegal with the hit. It was simply a hard, clean looking hit. Don’t understand the call. Also, very similar hit on Chappas earlier in the game was waived off. Anyone know what the rule is?

Bottom line – Dawgs learned alot about their strengths and weaknesses, and the loss has absolutely ZREO bearing on conference play. I look for the dawgs to come out and roll on USC!!

Go Dawgs!!

Gee, I thought UGA would roll and bark on Saturday. What a surprise that our team looked unprepared and was out played when the game was in doubt. We had a shot and had a chance to take control of the game and FAILED. There is work to do for staff and players. Come on Dogs, get some spirit!!

Coach Richt needs to get into the 21st century of how football is played in college. His offense is boring, plodding and predictable. You think I didn’t know the first play from scrimmage would be a handoff to the running back, so did Okie State. We need a quarterback that can run with the ball and show some deftness with the ball or slight of hand if you will. If the quarterback turns and pitches the ball to the running back, then the defense surely knows and can see that and they know where to run to the ball carrier who is not going very far.I am a georgia fan but I have to say I like the Tech offense very much. Georgia needs to go there. Richt needs to make some changes, or else. The dogs might win five this year.
