ESPN reports that even Jerry Jones has had it with Terrell Owens’ one-man sideshow, resulting in the Cowboys releasing the star wide receiver after a tumultuous three seasons in Dallas.
While cutting T.O. rids Dallas of mega-locker room drama — after exiting his first team, San Francisco, he insinuated in a Playboy interview that then-49ers QB Jeff Garcia was homosexual; claimed Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was soft while in Philadelphia; and reportedly feuded with fellow Cowboys receiver Jason Witten — it comes with a hefty salary cap hit to the tune of $9 million. But Owens caught 235 passes for 3,587 yards and 38 touchdowns in 47 games with the Cowboys and led the NFL with 13 TDs receiving in 2006, his first season in Dallas. Over his 13-year career, he’s a five-time All-Pro and ranks second in career touchdowns, fifth in career yards receiving and sixth in career receptions.
Falcons starting WR Roddy White hauled in 88 receptions for 7 TDs and 1,382 yards during the 2008 season. In Dallas, Owens posted 69 receptions for 10 TDs and 1,052 yards in 2008. White is 27; Owens is 35.
We’re just asking: Would you like to see Terrell Owens in an Atlanta Falcons uniform when the 2009 season starts? Or is he just too much of a locker room distraction for a team forging its identity behind a new young QB, Matt Ryan, and a WR (White) whose stats have steadily improved over his playing days?

No. One of the things that made the Falcons work last season was chemistry. TO ruins chemistry of a team. He is an incredible player, but the Falcons are fine without him. He would bring more baggage than this young team could carry.

Two words : HELL NO. This guy is nothing but a disruptive presence in the locker room. We don’t need that on a young team coming off a playoff year. Besides, he’s what, 36? Most people agree he’s lost a step. We don’t need his kind of bad air around Atlanta. We’ve almost put the Vick thing behind us, let’s not bring in more negativity.

My opinion would be yes. Give him a fair incentive based salary based on his production, which would make him actually work hard to earn his money and produce. Also, add a clause that states if he becomes any time of disruption to the team or through the media, his contract would be null and void leaving him out of a job……PERIOD!!!

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!! He is a cancer on any team he plays on!!!!! The Falcons was actually fun to watch last season since they got rid of their previous cancers: DeAngelo Hall, Algie Crumpler and Michael Vick!

T.O. is great player so you need to way the pos. and the neg.. Atlanta’s chemistry was great last yr., but remember Atlanta is young and still evolving. The addition of vet. T.O. could push the recieving core to the top. But with media instigating and or blow-up everything T.O. does off the field might cause a degree of turbulance in the locker-room. If Atlanta tweeks up the offensive line with 350lbs. plus to protect Matt Ryan……the passing and running scheme would be unstopable and the Atlanta Falcons could have there long awaited Championship.

He is not a real leader and throwing T.O. into the mix at his age and stage of his career would absolutely ruin the offense’s chemistry. Can you really conceive of T.O. and Matt Ryan being sucessful for more than a half-season. I think that if the Falcons were to sign T.O., I’d quit being a fan of the team.

It would be nice to add another quality WR to play alongside Roddy White, while playing Douglas in the slot. Although, with T.O. comes a laundry list of problems. The Falcons are on the verge of much success and any distractions could destroy the chemistry they are building. If T.O. agrees to accept the direction and discipline of Coach Smith and Mularkey and keep his mouth shut and play football, then yes! (That’s a stretch!) If not, then the Raiders are always willing to accept the antics of a player T.O.’s caliber.
Brandon

If the Falcons get T.O., the defense will have to play a a cover two and defend against the deep ball to T.O. which will leave Roddy open all day long. When the defense plays man on Roddy and T.O. it will leave Finneran open in the slot. Our WR core would be ranked up there with the N.E. Pats and they have how many titles. I could stomach T.O. for a couple years if the ATL get a couple rings out of the deal.

First: Why does anything have to be about Mike Vick. He never had any real Team incidents. You people are simply ungrateful.
Now to the question: Yes, bring T.O. in… If Mike Smith is the coach you think he is, if Matt Ryan is the QB you think he is AND if any of you fans want the team to win, you try and get this guy. T.O.’s issues are always with the QB position. jeff Garcia – punk; NcNabb, almost a punk… Romo and Jason Witten, punk times 7… This guy T.O. is, at any given time, the best WR on the fiend. He has played injured and produced. No one has ever looked at the QB’s in his past being inadaquate.
Inagine T.O. and Roddy lined up on opposit sides with Douglas or Finneran in teh slot AND Turner in the backfield. That will spead defenses thin and widen the field.
IF YOU AND THE TEAM WANT TO WIN, bring him in. Woudl any of you not want a michael Jordan type at his position???

Not only NO, but HECK NO. Great player, but I am sure eveyone sees what type of “team” players the Falcons are now using to build this franchise. No longer will you see the T.O. types “ME ME ME” coming into Flowerly Branch. While the T.O. types make good highlight films, they dont win championships. The Falcons are now playing together and winning together as a TEAM. Dont screw up a good thing

No way will the Falcon even consider going there. It would be too much like the Mike Vick circus all over again. TO has caused problems on every team he had been on. He would be too much of a locker room problem. The Falsons made way to much progress last season to go backwards. With a good draft and FA, they can probably make it further in the playoffs.

Yeah… don’t think so.
For all the idiots who think ATL should give him a one year deal… what fantasy world are you living in? Do you clowns TRULY believe an ego the size of Terrell Owens would even consider accepting a one year deal? And if for some bizarre reason he actually DID sign for one year, by mid-season he would be disgruntled and ticked off that he hadn’t been offered a multi-year extension yet.
As for the claims that if “Atlanta signs T.O., they go to the Super Bowl”… where the hayell does THAT come from? 13 seasons… one Super Bowl… and he missed the four games prior to that game due to injury… so it’s not like he led them thru the playoffs to the big game.
Highly overrated and too much of a jackleg for a young team like Atlanta to need to deal with.

T.O. would work in the ATL. He lives there, and the is use to the environment. This would be a situation that would bring the Falcons to the next level. I know that some people might relate him to the Mike Vick situation, and drop a bomb on the idea. But T.O.has never had off the field issues.

Terrell lived in Lithonia for years-and the Earth didn’t shatter because of it. He may have some personality quirks, but he is experienced and focused when he gets on the grass. The Falcons could use a little real star power and TO might be the catalyst to really push the team to newer heights. Its an idea worthy of consideration at least.

Ruel, no he hasn’t off the field issues in the sense of felonies. He has had off the field issues and behind the scenes issues in regards to the teams he has been on and some of the players on those teams. He causes locker room and chemistry problems. Philly and the Cowboys come to mind.

For a team to be successful every team member must share three attributes: a common goal, a willingness to help, and a willingness to be helped. TOs history indicates that he is mainly interested in himself and using his team mates to further his goals, not the teams. He’s 0 for 3 now and no matter what team he ends up on he will be 0 for 4.

Who really cares about his off the field issues if any, on the field and in the locker room he is a team killer, he leaves scorched earth where ever he goes, as for Mike Vic, he is guilt of just being dumb, risking a 100 million dollar contract on $35,000.00 dog fighting, the Falcons would never win with him.
He was a great athlete but he should have paid more attention to his arithmetic in Grammar School, the Flacons would never win with him and they wont win if the bring in TO. They both should be in Oakland with Big Papa.

I think that T.O. actually would love to come here and play, I think he used to live or still lives here, one or the other. These jerks at the AJC should be fired for even thining this is a topic to discuss. Not just no, but HELL NO!!! In case these interns who run the AJC haven’t noticed, the Falcons have a Pro-Bowl WR in Roddy White, a very nice 2nd receiver in Jenkins, an excellent slot receiver in Harry Douglas and a great possession/leader in Brian Finneran. That’s 4 receivers who aren’t going anywhere. All of them are younger except for Finn, and all of them are cheaper than TO. Plus NONE of them are lockerroom cancers like TO.
I reiterate. Not just no, but HELL NO!!!!
