The Falcons and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority want to raze the Georgia Dome and build a nearly $1 billion stadium. A hotel/motel tax in Fulton County would help fund it.
Today, an advocate for limited government says there are better ways to spend public funds.
And a Minnesotan whose state is debating a new stadium urges support for a new Falcons’ nest.

There is nothing wrong with the Georgia Dome. I’ve never left a game thinking that the Georgia Dome should be replaced. The Super Dome in New Orleans is 20 years older than the Georgia Dome and been through a heck of a lot more (Katrina). The Super Dome hosts the Saints as well as premium events like Super Bowls, the BCS National Championships, and the Sugar Bowl.
The Dome would simply be a waste of money now. If it were 50 years old , I would consider it. At 20 years old, its simply too new to replace.
When you throw in the fact that we are doing things like cutting back HOPE and freezing state workers salaries, it would be a gross waste of funds.

if we build it with our tax dollars then we should OWN it. i’m sick and tired of seeing private this built with public funds and the public only gets the shaft in the end. pun intended.

NO, NO, NO. . .now what about NO, do those folks in Atlanta not understand? We cannot afford to properly educate our kids, pay or keep teachers in the classrooms, take care of our sick and injured [Grady], the potholes and bridges need repair, we need sidewalks and new street lights and these idiots want a new stadium!? A stadium, I have yet to enter because the tickets are way too expensive and so are the consessions. The parking is not cheap either. If the PRIVATE company wants a new stadium, let them find a site and build it themselves. This is one government-private partnership that is definitely NOT in the best interest of the community as a whole.

All we need is a clown from Minnesota telling us what to do. He gloats about “his” Twins beating the Braves in the World Series yet fails to mention the call going vs. Gant being pulled off of 1st base in Game 2 & the wind fans being turned up in the Metro Dome when “his” players came up to bat.
When I think of Minnesota I think of the clowns that they have elected: Keith Ellison, Al Franken, Jesse Ventura, etc., etc.
This guy needs to worry about attracting people to move to his crummy state as opposed to a stadium in Atlanta.
