The big problem is that development in the region has been piecemeal. Older cities like Chicago had transit in place and the development followed in many of those transit areas. We have developments all over the place and no central way to easily access even with transit. Mass transit in Atlanta will not work because for the most part there is no way to get from point A to Point B in a reasonable amount of time so the only folks that use it are the ones who are too poor to have a choice.
