9/28: Meriwether’s cloud lifts

The jobless rate of Meriwether County in west central Georgia — just south of Coweta County — hovers around 12 percent. So recent news that a global auto parts supplier plans to open a facility there arrived at an ideal time.

Today, business owner Virginia Hill and Robert Moreland, chairman of the Meriwether County Industrial Development Authority, share their joy.

A young man got saved at the local church last Sunday.

Our football team has not lost but one game so far this year.

The beauty of nature here is important and offers much hope for humanity.

Ps. Please dis-regard Skip’s comments. I knew his parents, and I’m sure he knows better.

Rick, you need to spend some time in Meriwether and Greenville, I’d be willing to bet not more than 20 local workers get hired. We’re a reason Georgia is winning the race to the bottom in education.
