Atlanta Falcons Joke of a Season Comes to Merciful End

Comedy of Errors Sees Rival Win Division at GA Dome

Nice Moment (AJC)

It’s over. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The end has come to the Atlanta Falcons trainwreck-boatsink-planecrash-disaster-of-a-season, and most fans couldn’t be happier. There will be a time when the angst and deep-seated pain will wash away and some bright light will shine in…..maybe. Considering no major changes will be made, than maybe not. But this post will serve as a cathartic chance to rid yourself of any and all negative and bad feelings about, arguably at least, one of the worst Falcons teams in recent memory. In fact, fans always reference the 2007 season as one of the worst with the whole Michael Vick federal dogfighting ring and Bobby Prictrino sneaking out in the middle of the night episode. Guess how many wins that team had? And the QB was a mix of Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich, and Chris Redman. Now that should give pause to anyone who says there should be fundamental, deep, and major …

What’s Your Level of Hope in Atlanta Falcons Future?

Hopeful or Depressed in Falcons Immediate Future……..

Davis with a Nice Game (AP)

***Apologies for letting post expire.

As the Atlanta Falcons get ready to end one of the worst seasons in recent memory, most of the talk, discussion, and thoughts about the Falcons has turned to the upcoming off-season and 2014. Most fans are completely expecting their team to fall to the next two opponents, the Niners and rival Panthers. Two teams that are the exact opposite of the red and black team: tough and physical. The question now turns to whether or not the Falcons can actually fix all that ails this team in one season. Theory would have it that since the team from Flowery Branch has been so successful the last 5 out of 6 seasons, that it would be like riding a bike and they could easily slip back into success.

Trufant and DB's a Strength (AJC)

However, as Lee Corso might say, “Not so fast my friend.” If you look at the Falcons problems in a one-season vacuum, it would be easy to chalk …

Atlanta Falcons Squeak By Lowly Redskins

Another Weak Showing

Needed Tipped Pass to Win (AJC)

It’s a win. That’s about all fans can say after this one. If ugly wins are still wins, than this has to be one of the ugliest the Falcons have played in a long time. As will be mentioned in the post, the Falcons had 7 takeaways and needed a last second tipped pass on a failed two point conversion to win the game. The Falcons found a team that was as bad or worse than them and barely managed to beat them. Problem is, one of the teams had it’s backup quarterback and the other did not. The Falcons sit at 4-10 and have two more games before this season comes to it’s merciful end. A look at the bad game that was.

How is this Play Justified?

Happened a Few Times (AJC)

Injuries, injuries, injuries. That’s why the Falcons are playing so bad right now, correct? It’s true that the Falcons have had their share of injuries throughout the year, but trying to chalk up the entire season’s collapse to a handful of injuries is just a flat …

Atlanta Falcons Find a Way to Lose in Green Bay

Another Game, Another Loss

Falcons Fumble Another One Away (AP)

It looked the Falcons of old for a half. The offense was moving well and the defense came up with some turnovers and the Falcons looked like the team that had done so well the past 5 years. And then the second half started. The Falcons ugly habit of blowing leads, regardless of how big or small, continued yet again on Sunday. Atlanta’s team seemed to be in a good position to win their 4th game of the year vs. an Aaron Rodgers-less Packer team, until halftime at least.

Second Half Collapse

Must Have Been 1st Half (AP)

Fans are sick of this. The argument can be drilled down to why a thousand times over, but the simple fact is this: Mike Smith the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons Football team. He is the person charged with fixing things that need improving on the field. The Falcons have been a disaster coming out of halftime since he has been head coach and there is literally no improvement. If anything, it’s …

Atlanta Falcons Show Guts in Win Over Bills

Not Pretty, but a Win’s a Win

Gonzo with a Good Game (AP)

Even though the season’s long been lost, the Atlanta Falcons showed some grit and found a way to win against a very talented Buffalo Bills team. It took some big strokes of luck at the end of the game (recovering not one, but two fumbles on possible game-winning drives), but the Falcons will take any breaks they can get in a season full of woes and faceplants. In actuality, the Falcons probably shouldn’t have won, but there’s quite a few games they probably shouldn’t have lost earlier in the year either. Going out and winning games such as this when the season’s over in terms of the postseason shows a toughness of character that the Falcons can use next season. There’s still a long, LONG ways to go, but there are some signs of life in this team and that couldn’t be said a few weeks ago. They have a good schedule in terms of difficulty, where they can use as a possible jumping off point for 2014. At this stage in the …
