Introducing The Falcons Cage Podcast!

The Cage's Very Own Podcast!

As many of you know, we’ve started our very own podcast about our Atlanta Falcons here in The Cage. We have already completed 2 episodes and they have included our very own members from our blog. We aim to start doing 2 episodes a week, set for Sunday and Wednesday evening. You can go listen to them directly from the links below, or you can go to the second link and download them to your i-tunes or i-pod.

We want this to be a shared experience including as many different Cage members as possible. Each show can have up to 5 guests at a time. It’s really easy to do. All that’s required is to call a set number from your landline or cell phone (just make sure to have unlimited long distance) and it’s essentially a conference call. There will be topics for each episode and I will send out an outline before hand so you can prepare if you want. If you’d like to be on a future episode, please shoot me an email at dawsondevitt@hotmail.com

Enjoy!!!! Will be back with an all-new post later today.

Even the Cage is on the podcast bandwagon? I approve of this.

Just now had time to listen to the podcast and ya’ll done it again. Great job and convo from all. Our DT situation is plumb terrible. How can a player ranked 85th out of 85 even get on the field? Looks like all we can do now is pray for a miracle or hope someone doesn’t get re-signed that is better than what’s out there now.
What’s the next topic? Do we have anything good to talk about?

SW, looking fwd to our esteemed colleage “Cocca Mel” making his first appearance to the world this wed!!! I will keep it short so he can have the xtra minutes to opine. Although I was star struck with the all star cast on sun., cocca mel is truly a treasure of the Cage! I joke and smack about ffl, but not cocca mel!

Working on a great intro for him if I can find it, and if I can remember the movie title. Its the intro befor salyma hayake (misspelled) comes on stage with a snake around her body before she turnsinto a vampire? Well, her intro would be perfect for Cocca Mel, with a few gender changes, lol.

JAW – Try this link:

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-falcons-cage/2013/07/14/the-falcons-cage-podcast–2–2013-falcons-draft

When the page opens, look for a link middle of the page that says, “Play in your default player”. Click that and your computer should do the rest. You won’t need a username or anything else.

After that, if you click the main link, “The Falcons Cage Podcast”, it will take you to a page that has all the previous cast and the time and topic for future casts.

Hope this helps.

Well, this post has been up for 53 hours and has 15 comments. Hmmm.. I suppose if the entire podcast was typed out and posted on here that would help the cause but would defeat the purpose of the podcast.
My guess for the lack of comments is that just ain’t nothing going on worth talking about. The Atlanta Falcon home page has some good reviews of what we can expect from each player on the team. I think there might be a jail break from the WPP this year. I can see it now with some Bonnie and Clyde music with the players scampering out to the field. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_Y3mnj-8lA

THERE IS AN OPEN SPOT ON THE NEXT PODCAST, WHICH IS TOMORROW NIGHT AT 6:30 PM.

It’s really easy. All you have to do is call into this certain number (just make sure you have unlimited long distance) and it’s just like a conference call. If you feel intimidated or something, please don’t. It’s just like talking here on The Cage or just talking Falcons Football at your local sports bar. I send out a show outline if you want to prepare as such.

21, I feel the same way and almost did not graduate high school because I missed an oral book report. It was “do it or fail” so I picked out the thinnest book I could find. It was about DNA, in 1967. I found it interesting and st–st-started to, to ex– explain it to the class and found out that they didn’t know sh!t about DNA. There were no questions afterward and I got the only thing I ever wanted out of high school, me. My only thing is, the cage members know a heel of a lot more about football, the players, etc. than I do. When it comes to enthusiam and optimism I’m you’re guy but when it comes to analyzing the game and with the stats and all, I’m in the dark. I had no idea that Peters, I think it was, was the 85th worse DT out of 85. I look more at potential and unseen trends as to what might happen next year. The secret to sucess, I believe, in an age old acronym, PMA&OPM. That would boil down to a Positive Mental Attitude and risking Other Peoples’ Money(paycheck)
I expect to see a Falcon team this year like never before. We have a group of physically competent players to take the whole tater home because they have an “attitude.” Remember PMA?
“What you BELIEVE, you can ACHIEVE.” I have been told that I am full of “cliche’s” and BS but old sayings don’t get to be old by being untrue.
The podcast has brought out, and discussed, a lot of our weaknesses but I am more of a “run what you brung” kinda person. TD and Co make millions to research, years in advance, the future and concistency of this team and I have no choice but to contribute the only thing I have to offer, and that is to continue to be the best fan that I know how to be. I love the podcast and am looking forward to the next one but someone on there saying “Damnnn, I didn’t know that!” would not contribute to what ya’ll have going on. As 21 said, maybe later.

I have nothing but the highest respect for each of you. Looking forward to the day when you both feel comfortable and ready to hit the airways.

As JB F said so well, we all are fans first and foremost. And I pray that we never forget that. No matter what I say on the Pod-cast, no matter how critical I may be at times, it is all in love for my desire to be able to stand with my Cage Family, with the Queen looking down from heaven, as our Super Bowl parade passes by and the cheering cries of the masses dominate the central city.

Please listen into the show and keep THIS guy honest and humble with your feedback. This is a learning experience for me and I am really loving working with D3, JJ, Coop, Big Ray, and whomever else joins. We are just beginning but I have a feeling, a solid gut feeling, that we are on to something here.

Birdman,

I’m surprised. If you do not mind, could you go into a little more detail? I certainly hope that I have not done anything to change your view of the forum. All I have ever done was just tell it like I feel it is, being as honest and open as I can. I have always tried to be respectful in my posts.

If the “negative tone” I seem to have in regards to the Falcons has offended, I am sorry for that. But I can not be sorry for the truth as I see it in regards to the state of my team as I see it. If am I wrong, I promise you I will admit it for God knows I certainly have been wrong before and will most likely be again in my life.

This is nothing more than a forum to me to have a little fun, discuss Falcon football, both positively and if needed, negatively. I can only speak for myself…I am not here to impress anyone, to be the headliner, or to steal anyone’s place in any hierarchy. I am here simple to have fun and express with other Falcon fans.

If I have offended anyone in any way, I am not aware of it. And if I have, I am sincerely sorry for it. It is not the way I roll.

Please stay the course, brother. Your points mean more than you are giving yourself credit for. At least in my point of view. But if you feel you must move on, I will respect that wish and extend my best wishes now and for all times.

South Georgia brothers we shall always be….. but I want you to stay the course. Thanks, friend.

Birdman, my man. Best I recall, you got two years on me, right? Anyway, I think the podcast is, or is not, a good idea at this point. It is an experiment, if you will. It takes away from the blog but it allows “some” to express their opinions more than they could do on the blog. The reaction to the most recent post was nil. I guess everything was said on the podcast.
I understand that the podcast was JJ’s idea but he has already bowed out. I’m kinda wondering where this is going. I talk on the telephone all day long because that is my job but I enjoy getting my thoughts together at the end of the day and contributing something to the blog that other people might enjoy and respond to. I guess you can join the podcast for 30 mins twice a week and forget about the blog? This blog has been going on for years years and it allows ALL Falcon fans to participate. I can’t understand why everyone has deserted. I am going to keep on monitoring and will participate on any discussions on here but am really sad that our main key posters are not participating. Even still, there’s not a lot of room for newcomers who might think this is an open blog. Perhaps we will get some new fans who don’t like to talk on the telephone. I know that the participants on the podcast had a forwarning about the subject and had time to get their ducks in a row but it’s, like you said, “people don’t hear you” on here anymore.

I have learned so much from this forum and I appreciate all the views. Again, well said. And again, I can only speak for myself. I have not been as active as I have been in the past due to a number of things, personally and professionally. But, like you, I get here when I can and add my thoughts to the mix.

I really appreciate what D3 puts into this forum in terms of content and access. I will roll with him as often as I can for a long as he continues to stage this forum. Likewise, I will be there in any way he desires for any new ideas that he or anyone else wants to float about our Falcons.

Not that it’s necessary, but this is the deadest time of the year for Falcon Football Fans… hang in there Birdman… it’s going to pick back up once training camp gets cranked up…

And I’m not into the podcast thing… I’m just not going to get around to taking thirty minutes to listen to it… One of the things I like about the Cage is that I can read it at my leisure… Let me add that I’m not opposed to the podcast, for those that participate and enjoy it, I think it’s a really good addition… but I’m really looking forward to getting the Cage back up as the Falcons get more active in August…

Maybe I am making too much of this but I simply do not get it.

What are we doing/have done in two editions of the Pod Cast is the VERY SAME thing we have done in nearly six years of the Cage Blog. We have had discussion after discussion after discussion about all things Falcons.

We have debated drafts, free agency, coaching moves, stadium issues, Marta, etc. We have mourned together, laughed together, prayed together, etc. We have done it in agreement as a mass and when appropriately decided, we, collectively AND individually, have opened fire on the team when they fell short of our goals and expectations.

Again, maybe I am making too much of this but I simply do not get it.

On a side note…

Here is one to think about?

Forbes stated that the Falcons are worth a tad under $850 million dollars. AB is about to invest, between his own and loans, $700 to 900 million of “his controlled” cash into the new stadium.

Do you feel that this move is needed or a high risk move for AB given the sometimes fickle nature of the Atlanta fan base?

Here is a little interactive exercise that you can use to gauge the potential in the ATL market once PSLs come into play. I chose St Louis as it is a market similar in size to the ATL though the metro ATL area has more population than STL.

And remember, PSL costs ONLY covers the right to purchase the rights to tickets on that particular seat or seats. You STILL have to pay for the ticket costs at a later date and time.

More info on PSLs:

A personal seat license, or PSL, is a paid license that entitles the holder to the right to buy season tickets for a certain seat in a stadium. This holder can sell the seat license to someone else if they no longer wish to purchase season tickets.[1] However, if the seat license holder chooses not to sell the seat licenses and does not renew the season tickets, the holder forfeits the license back to the team. Most seat licenses are valid for as long as the team plays in the current venue.

Seat licenses have been given various names. The most common term in North America is Personal Seat License and in Europe is Debenture. The primary reason sporting venues offer PSLs is that the proceeds are used to help pay the debt incurred during the construction of the stadium or arena. Opponents of PSLs see this as another way to extract money from the sports fans.

Bridman – I wouldn’t worry about researching. I rarely research. I just say what I see and what I feel. There are other times when comments intrigue me so much I do some digging to learn. I never understood the 3-4, but after listening to so much talk about it, I started to read up on it and look for it in football games. For me, it is the ultimate in being a fan. I bring my point and when someone brings something I don’t know, I ask to learn more. I may agree or disagree.

So say what you feel. Be like Barry and his heartbeat or MB and blame Matt Ryan for everything.
