Atlanta Falcons: Birds Lock Up Home Field

Our Birds wrapped it up and they did what they had to do tonight.  We dominated early and often and it’’s time to make waves in the off-season! Much more to come very soon……….

Sorry. It flipped so fast I missed this.

falcon21,

I hope you’re right about the score. My Mo’ is motivation, not momentum, that tends to ebb and flow throuhgout any given game. My Mo’ is hustle and hit football full blown. Both sides of the ball. That’s what I look for on any given game day

keys to tomorrows game., getting there early with my 6yr old to enjoy the Landing. Relaxing in the dome knowing we have bye, kicking back and just enjoying the feeling of a great regular season and more importantly, we can afford no injuries.

I realize 5 years does not equate to an era, but I think the Falcons are now the model franchise. I just hope we game plan our opposition wisely in the upcoming post season. and, I hope we don’t play somebody we’ve already played previously this year. they seem to learn more about us than we do about them. although, our defense does appear to be very flexible. savvy flexible.

“The key is to run from the shotgun formation, which would keep the defense on its heels. You can fake the run and throw, run sweep, check down, reverse, quick slant… the list goes on. Not to mention, you give Ryan a better chance to survey the field.”

The Falcons ran a ton out the shotgun in 2006. It never worked straight up.. When it worked, it was because of Vicks presence. This was the 2 1000 yard rushers team. Dunn struggled while Norwoods abilities made him a beast, maybe better than Foster. It worked until they stopped surprising people. In 2007, the wildcat madness resurfaced in the NFL. Emphasis on faster ball carriers. Today, Antone Smith is the closest you’re getting to the 2006 backfield. This same Antone Smith has 1 carry and 2 targets in 3 seasons of football. Smith=Sproles but Jaquizz Rodgers=a slower and shorter version of Addai.

Pretty sure they didn’t draft a fullback to run out the shotgun. Im sure they drafted Ewing to make 2 back personell dynamic, not to run away from it. Otherwise, they probable could’ve ran away from it without wasting a pick. They also didn’t bring back Snelling because of his quickness to get outside. They didn’t draft Rodgers because he was a Sproles type, they drafted him because he was the best running back available. I hate badmouthing him, but he is not the answer and the coaching staff knows it. If they were to draft a RB with a first round pick, it would be a big fast guy like Foster or Turner once was. None of our runninbacks limitations are surfacing for the first time. The fact that Turner, Snelling and Smith are still together should explain a lot. I have a feeling you’ll see a heavier dose of Turner this offseason.
