Falcons will go to superbowl this year and win.
Im a firm believer that the Falcons will be focus during there time of, if you risk any injury when there is and opportunity of getting to superbowl then many pointing the fingers will go around including Arthur Blanks and specially the Bird Cage, who support this team to fullest and will not settle for anyting less than a superbowl ring.
GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We rested the players in 2010 and how did that work out for us?
I think it’s straight up dumb on the FANS for wanting to rest the starters for two weeks. Momentum, people… momentum! Peyton Manning learned from this.

I wouldn’t rest the starters for the entire game against the Bucs. Have them play at least a half, or maybe three quarters. We know what two weeks of rest can do for the team (see @Philly), but they need to be both healthy AND sharp for the playoffs. Putting them in the game on Sunday will ensure that the post-Carolina drive and focus stays in place for as long as possible.

There’s a difference between the fans being fearful of this possible opponent or that one. As long as the CS and the players aren’t scared, who cares if WE are scared. I know THIS much – our guys don’t play scared. They might play uninterested, unmotivated, or unprepared…but never scared.

I’d like to hear the most fired-up and focused leaders on the Falcons’ squad answer this question– “How much of the TB game do you want to play?” I’m sure Smith has his plan, but I wonder how the team leaders factor in.

Anything can happen on any giving play.

Alright, so, I wouldn’t say it’s ‘fear’ or anything of the sort…
It’s more like being prepared.
Despite all the great QB’s we’ve shut down, Cam showed in both games vs. Carolina this year that mobile QB’s make this defense vulnerable. I’m not putting Wilson in the category of the greats in the game or anything, it’s strictly a strength vs strength thing. I think we matchup more favorably vs. GB than we do against a team like Seattle. You can reference what we did to RG3, that’s fair. But, I’m focused more on what Cam did to us. They also have Marshawn Lynch, which makes the task of stopping them tougher.
Again, it ain’t about being fearful, it’s about being prepared. This team has been ill-prepared the past 2 seasons for that ‘hot team’ that they were about to run into. 2 season’s in a row, we’ve run into the ‘hottest team in the league’, and as of now [and things can change], Seattle’s right up there as one of the hottest in the league.
I’m living on the side of caution. It’s not about being fearful, it’s about being prepared adequately. You have 3 weeks, and that’s 3 weeks to get things squared away. ATL isn’t reacting like ESPN Big Lou, fans see what they’ve been seeing the past couple years. A team that’s getting hot at the right time. This time, I wanna be prepared. I get you can’t play cupcakes in the playoffs, but you can be prepared.
Like I said, I don’t care who we see. I just want these guys to be on point and rollin’ when the time comes.

man if you don’t play the players this weekend at all, you’re talking about them being without real football action for 3 weeks…
and then you expect them to just be on point come playoff time?

BM, the good Lord don’t make appointments, so we pray every day.
Wabe, I agree that we don’t sit and lose our attitude or let our physical condition rest. As far as who we play in the playoffs, it’s like stopping for ice cream with two kids. Don’t bring back a vanilla and a chocolate. Bring two of either, no arguement and they still get ice cream.

I say rest the starters. They get plenty of reps in practice without the risk of injury. I don’t believe they will gain anything from playing the dirty, lowdown Bucs. If anything, this is the game that our backups can prove their worth/worthlessness.

Merry Christmas, Cagers!
Just finished off a fine Christmas Eve dinner here with the kids and their families. We don’t have standing rib roast very often, so I picked a terrific wine for $17.89, and it was superb. Wines above $20 are really iffy. Tomorrow, we’ll visit my rich in-laws in Savannah. That’s my annual indulgence in wines above $100 — and they buy.
I gave my wife (myself?) a sous vide machine for Christmas. She speaks fluent French, so she knows sous vide means “under vacuum.” She’s still trying to figure out what the thing is. I’ve spent weeks researching and planning. Gonna soon cook up the tenderest, moistest meat we’ve ever tasted.
A sous vide machine BTW, is sorta like a $400 hybrid of a crock pot and convection oven. Some hotshot restaurants have commercial versions that cost $thousands. Mine was $329. I figure these home versions will sell for about $99 in 2014.
Oh, wait! This ain’t a food blog! Go, Falcons!
And Happy New Year!

It just burns me up when I hear someone say that RB JRogers isn’t capable of being a featured RB. No, he isn’t the type of RB that can carry the kind of run heavy power rushing OFF Smitty wants desperately to run. But he’s the ideal RB for Koetter’s pass heavy OFF.
Loyality is a fine trait, but Smitty needs to get past the loyality issue and realize RBs JRogers and JSnelling are much more effective and productive runners than MTurner. He must also realize that with VanGorder gone, we don’t need a dominant rushing OFF that’s designed to keep Nolan’s ball hawking DEF off the field.
Smitty needs to back the hell off and let our OFF and DEF reflect MNolan’s and Koetter’s personalities and philosophies. With the speed, quickness, atheticism, and overall talent we have on both OFF and DEF, there shouldn’t be a single hint of CONSERVATISM in the way the Falcons play.

UNCA BOB-I’ve tried several times to correct that error, but to no avail. I did a check of the various 2013 mock drafts, and most of them had us taking a TE. Regardless of how we do this yr, I’d love to see us go with a 1 RB(JRogers) 3 WR set(White, JJ, Douglas).
I’m all but certain we’ll see either Konz or Hawley replace McClure at OC. OG was the 2nd ranked highest ranked position among the mock drafts. Konz is certainly skilled enough, but not strong enough at this point to be consistently effective at RG.
We need to draft an OG that’s capable of starting on day one, which would require us to utilize a 1st rd pick to acquire one. With the return of a healthy WSivtek, LHolmes could replace a SBaker, who likely won’t be resigned. These 3 OL moves could end up making us bigger, stronger, more athletic, as well as much younger and better.
