Need Your Input

Well Bird Cage Family Members, this is one of the toughest times of the year and especially so with no end of the lockout in sight. The draft is over and there’s no indication that there will even be a season when August rolls around. With that being said, there should be some things we can do to keep our Falcons and Football appetite satisfied. So it’s that simple, while a new post is getting finished simply throw anything you’d like to discuss during this insanely difficult period.

New post coming soon.

To get you going today, go ahead and give your “ridiculoulsy and entirely too early” 2011 Atlanta Falcons depth chart with all 53 roster spots and 8 practice squad spots.

Nude pictorials of the Falcons chearleaders should suffice until football resumes. Unfortunately nothing else is going to help much if any. Thanks in advance for making that happen.

All 53 roster spots AND the practice squad? lol… I think that’s a tad ambitious for my task, before FA even starts.

How about we start a pool on when the lockout ends? Each person gets to pick one specific calendar day.

I think we grab a DE in FA or trade. I liked the thought of Jenkins for Edwards assuming he’s still restricted. In that case, Harvey replaces Jenkins on the WR squad. The interesting part would be who goes from the DE? Do we cut Sidbury? JA98? Or leave Matthews unprotected on the PS? I say no way to the latter. So I’d have to part with Sidbury. JA98 has versatility playing the DT as well as DE.

D3: I will come back with squad after I stop screaming about this comment from DOL column
(asked about J Jones)
Ryan is not sure how the Falcons plan to integrate Jones into the offense.

“It will be interesting to see,” Ryan said. “He’s a big physical guy. I think he can do a lot of things for us. I think he’ll play a big part. He’s really good at blocking in the run game. That’s important for our offense.

Dear Lord we did not use those draft picks for a blocker. Mularkey… Oh Mularkey… if we wanted vanilla I would have went to dairy queen

QB- Ryan, Redman, Wilson
RB- Turner, Rodgers
FB- Mugheli, Snelling
WR- White, Jones, Jenkins, Douglass, Meier
TE- Gonzalez, Peelle
LT- Baker, Reynolds
LG- Johnson, Hawley
C- McLure, Hawley
RG- Dahl, Jackson
RT- Clabo, Svitek
Okay, so i’m a huge fan of the 3-4 defense, and i really don’t think VanGorder has really done anything impressive, so i’m putting what i would get if the Falcons had a 3-4 defense
DE-Babineaux, Anderson, Peters
NT- Jerry, WILLIAMS, Lewis, Peters
ROLB- Abraham, Sidbury, HERZLICH
ILB- Lofton, Weatherspoon, Dent, HERZLICH
LOLB- HALI, Biermann, HERZLICH
S- Moore, DeCoud, ZBIKOWSKI, Schillinger
CB- Robinson, Grimes, Franks, Owens, Priest
K- Bosher
P- Koenen
So basically, once this retarded CBA Lockout crap is over, i say the falcons should sign Mark Herzlich, who was unforgivably passed over by every team in the draft. he would add fantastic depth to a linebacking corps who really need it, possibly taking one of the starting positions. Then the Dirty Birds should go after Tamba Hali, who was the pass rushing guy for the Chiefs last year, having at least one rusher that has worked the 3-4 would be important. Zbikowski from the Ravens also adds to depth for the safety position and it really needs it.
Although the Falcons don’t have a real player for the nose, i think that Jerry and Trey Lewis could pullit of with some help from free agent superstar Pat Williams. Yes, i understand that he’s really really old, but experience and size are necessarey for a defense, so this would be a good one or two (i say half a year) year fix until they would be able to draft a true nose guy.

LRD, remember that Mularkey is a “genius”. Right, a $50 meellion dollar blocker. I don’t think so. The first offensive play of the first game will be a go route to Julio off of play action to Turner. Roddy will probably set a pick on the play too just to free him up more. Touchdown.

How about we take a poll on who won’t re-sign for the Falcons. Maybe Clabo and/or Dahl? Williams? Bryant and Koenen should be obvious. At least Koenen. Bryant may just want to play for a winner. Like us. I think Peterson signs cheap and Nicholas leaves.

Coop, you were awful quick with that roster & I liked the players you plugged in. I can’t understand why everyone wants Edwards over Charles Johnson who is younger and had more sacks. Edwards is regular while Johnson is up and coming, plus I don’t think Edwards will pass the locker room test. Johnson is from here and knows what we expect. We’re looking pretty darn good without any FA’s at all so I am excited to see who, if anyone, we will go for. I think that Namsunji, or whatever, guy will be going to TB. I’m thinking a kick azz safety would be our target.

Does anyone think it is possible that we let Redman walk via cut or trade leaving JPW as the backup? Wilson looked pretty good in pre-season and should know the system well. We pay Redman some big bucks to be the backup.

21, interesting thought about Redman. His salary is getting on up there from what we signed him for,
however (UB), he has pulled our butt out of the fire a lot of times with good solid back-up. I think Wilson was an UDFA when we got him and has played a minimal role. Scarey thought! Imagine, 14-2, in the playoffs, Ryan gets hurt, do you trust Wilson to pull it out?

falcon21,

With B Musgrave leaving the FO and moving to Vikingsville, my thought has been, Redman goes there to be a buffer for their rookie QB. Musgrave is smart and has spent years in this league developing QB’s. It would not surprise me to see a deal involving Edwards and Redman. Predraft, we were looking at QB’s and there was a reason for it. What the reason was…?

JB FALCON,

Perhaps JPW is seen as our #2 QB? What happens then? Sorry ’bout the “however” thing. LOL.

I personally would like to discuss the young talent on the defensive side of the ball… whats up with sidbury? This guy looks explosive… any chance he gets some reps b.c. i dont think ray edwards is what we need… we need someone talented enough to take over once the predator retires or leaves via f.a.

Sorry folks buy I must vent…

It’s a great night to be a Falcon fan, because I hate beating myself up by trying to back these sad one-on-one hoop hoggers, the Folding Chair Hawks, and the new baseball version, the Charlie Brown swingers, are equally as irritating to watch with every player competing for the Menoza line. Don’t get me started on the annual hockey free agent “team”, The Rehashers, who every time they realize they have a good player, they let him go to a contender, which is every other team except us.

Yea, I used to go downtown for DECADES and spend money and root for these basketball, baseball and hockey teams. They collectively gave me ONE nut in 1995. Now it is some other suckers turn to be embarrassed on national TV and then sent into one-way downtown jail by uninterested traffic cops.

Thank God for football.

It would be nice to take a flyer on Gholston. A 4-3 could bring out the best of him. It would have to be a painless and edible contract though, considering his past “achievements”. I am sure he would love to shed that odious label to be sure.

Now that the Hawks get bounced in a fashion that’s come to be expected of them, by getting their doors blown off, we can move on and look forward to a real team in Atlanta that seeks championships…

Not just being good enough.

To the NFL and the Atlanta Falcons in particular, don’t let me down this season.

High expectations usually doesn’t bode well, but nonetheless, my expectations are already relatively high. And we haven’t even addressed the defense yet.

Have all sport-less summer long to dive into that though.

I have to plead guilty to pushing the Redman to MINN trade but with one caveat: we’d have to get Pat Devlin in udfa. Otherwise, I’d be extremely leery of letting Redman go before his deal runs out next year. Devlin is the only QB remaining that I really like although we didn’t work him out as far as I know. JPW is probably ready for the #2 job but unless shipping Redman is the only way to get Edwards I’d have to err on the side of caution and keep CR around for another season…..

How about a Falcon Fantasy Draft Team. Pick any players we’ve had in the last 10 years to make an Ulimate Falcon Roster. Which WR, RB, QB, TE combos would you pick?

CBrass, thanks for the vid. Just think, Tony will be even more wide open this year with our new WR in the mix. A lot of love for the Falcons coming from the NFL Network gang, once they finally figured out that we didn’t just “fail” on grabbing defensive help in the first round of the draft, and that in fact Mr. Blank and TD have major intentions on finding the best free agent DE available.

My thoughts exactly. Also Turner should top 1100 yrds easily!!! Opposing teams can’t put 8 or 9 in the box anymore. They have to respect Jones presence.
